Wizard: Starting With the Knights Breathing Method Chapter 2804: 573: Supreme Council 25th Seat, Descent of a God!

Previously on Wizard: Starting With the Knights Breathing Method...
While researching the paths of poison and plague, Levi receives an urgent visit from the Despair Monarch within the Black Dragon Territory. The visitor reveals a dire conspiracy: multiple Nightmare Monarchs are plotting a remote invasion of Nora to exploit the chaos of the ongoing Abyssal war. Seeking to avoid being used as cannon fodder by Nightmare natives, the Despair Monarch expresses a desire to defect from its realm. Levi must now weigh the validity of this intelligence as Nora faces the threat of a coordinated assault from two fronts.

"I wish to enlist with Nora. Sir, would you be willing to introduce me?"

Levi: "..."

Pausing for a moment in hesitation, he questioned:

"Is this a serious request?"

"Completely serious! I harbor no false motives!"

After reflecting for a short while, Levi responded:

"Very well, I shall make the attempt."

This decision exceeded his personal authority; it was a matter that had to be handled by Edmund and the Supreme Council.

What if the Snake of the End was acting as a double agent? He might feign loyalty to Nora while serving as a mole for the Nightmare World. Therefore, extreme vigilance was required!

The Despair Sovereign stated: "I shall await your word, Sir."

With that, he departed in great haste.

...

Inside the Supreme Council.

The atmosphere around the round table was far more vibrant than usual, with over twenty figures assembled. A palpable sense of dread filled the air, as everyone was clearly conscious of the looming Nightmare incursion. Before long, Edmund walked in, draped in a red robe and maintaining a calm demeanor.

"Everyone, the purpose of today's gathering is clear to you all. At this point, an invasion by the Nightmare is inevitable. We must make preparations beforehand. The primary objective of this assembly is to determine if the Despair Sovereign should be permitted to join our ranks."

Following his opening remarks, Edmund invited the others to share their perspectives.

The barbarian lords were the first to speak up.

"The Nightmare Monarchs are full of deceit; we believe they are even more troublesome than the demon lords. This gesture from the Despair Sovereign is highly unusual. It feels like a weasel offering greetings to a chicken—I fear there is a hidden agenda to infiltrate us, dismantle the Nora Council from within, and allow the forces of the Nightmare World to march in unopposed."

"I agree, one simply cannot trust the words of such creatures."

"By refusing, we might lose a level-10 powerhouse, but accepting him without a way to control the situation invites a major threat. The risk is simply too high."

The barbarian lords were largely in agreement with one another.

Several of the legendary wizards offered slight nods of concurrence.

Edmund acknowledged them and then asked:

"What are the thoughts of the Barbarian Ancestor?"

The Heavenly Will appeared deep in thought as he pondered the situation:

"I do not believe an outright rejection is necessary. My suggestion is for the Despair Sovereign to appear before us in person... Often, a face-to-face interrogation makes it much simpler to discern one's true motives."

The barbarian lords were startled by this, immediately shifting their stance:

"The Barbarian Ancestor is truly wise; that is exactly what we were thinking."

The Daydreamer added:

"I concur with the Barbarian Ancestor. Should a meeting be required, Levi and I can facilitate the contact. We ought to hold a private discussion first before reaching a final verdict."

Consequently, the Supreme Council reached a unanimous decision to interview the Snake of the End, given the unique nature of its identity.

...

Black Dragon Territory.

"Sir Levi, what is the news?"

The Snake of the End waited for the outcome, appearing somewhat anxious.

"The Supreme Council wishes to meet with you. If your desire to join is genuine, I can assist you in descending into Nora in your true form. The real question is: do you have the courage?"

Levi challenged.

The Snake of the End answered:

"Grant me a few days to deliberate, Sir."

"As you wish."

After withdrawing, and despite being physically drained, the creature meticulously simulated the encounter over a dozen times. Only after confirming it was not a setup did it finally relax.

"It seems there is a chance."

The Snake of the End sought out Levi and committed to descending into Nora in its true form half a year later.

...

Inside the Supreme Council.

Edmund and the others nodded upon receiving the update.

The Heavenly Will stroked his beard, remarking:

"Willingness to descend into Nora in true form suggests a level of sincerity; it appears this is more than just a performance. Nevertheless, we require a highly secluded location to prevent other Nightmare Monarchs from sensing this meeting, which could jeopardize our future strategies."

Dealing with the Nightmare is far more complex than the Abyss. As a Spirit Plane similar to the astral world, the Nightmare World is far more pervasive.

Edmund suggested:

"We shall use the Metal School. They possess a formidable supreme treasure left by an ancient Nora sage, which is more than enough to keep our meeting hidden."

...

Nora Continent, Metal Domain.

Roger Mountain.

Levi's silhouette descended slowly. He still held vivid memories of the Roger Gathering, where countless prodigies competed on this very peak. Time had passed, and he had returned once more, though this time to deliberate on the fate of Nora.

Just as the legends claimed, Roger Mountain was a treasure in itself—perhaps even a supreme treasure. Roger had left a tracking seal here that pointed to a Legendary Artifact, which was now in Levi's possession.

Chanting an incantation, Levi's form vanished into the mountain. He reappeared in a realm shimmering with iridescent starlight, akin to a Sea of Rainbows. A round table floated in the center of the void, surrounded by more than twenty powerful beings. Looking around, Levi noted he was the only person present who wasn't level-10.

Edmund spoke: "Please, take a seat, Levi."

Levi didn't hesitate, sitting in the chair belonging to the Survivor of the Vast Sea. That legendary wizard, a long-time protector of Nora's Will, had already departed to stand guard and prevent an early Nightmare breach.

Shortly after, as space warped and vortices formed, a massive, coiled serpent descended from above. Its reptilian eyes swept over the assembly, feeling a primal sense of dread while observing Edmund, Gullwig, the Barbarian Ancestor, and the others.

Every individual here possessed the power to clash with mighty Gods.

Edmund, in particular, was rumored to be halfway to Level 11, having already ended the life of the Earth Demon Lord. Seeing him in the flesh confirmed his unfathomable power.

Like a head examiner at an interview, Edmund smiled and asked: "I have but one question: are you truly seeking to join Nora, or are there other motives at play?"

The Snake of the End replied with honesty: "My desire to join is sincere, for I realize that only here do I have a chance at survival."

A rigorous and intense interrogation followed.
