Wizard: Starting With the Knights Breathing Method Chapter 2775: 568: Edmund’s True Form, the Twenty-Four Supreme Seats!
Previously on Wizard: Starting With the Knights Breathing Method...
"The Earth Demon Lord cannot be slain without Level 11 power, can he?" The Shadow Demon Queen’s inquiry plunged the gathered demons into a heavy silence.
In truth, the Earth Demon Lord had already attained the peak of Level 10. Even formidable entities like the Fallen Star Lord or the Succubus Queen of the 660th layer could, at most, suppress the Earth Demon Lord, but never truly kill him. This reality explained the Earth Demon Lord's immense arrogance in challenging Edmund to a duel; with his profound realm and his status as the Arcane Terminator, defeat seemed impossible.
"Withdraw for the time being. We must await reinforcements from the Water Demon Lord. Level 11 strength may be required for our next phase. This has evolved beyond a mere blood battle; it mirrors the cataclysmic events of the Ancient and Antiquity eras... it is the final war."
The Earth Demon Lord's demise cast a grim pall over the demonic host. Following this, no one dared to act without caution. This upcoming ten millennia might mark the conclusion of the thirty-million-year Near Ancient epoch. Despite the current setback, the demons remained steadfast in their belief that the Abyss would endure, just as it has for billions of years.
...
The Dark Temple.
High above, the stars loomed while the ancients remained hushed. Being well-connected, they were naturally aware of Edmund slaying the Earth Demon Lord. In fact, they were the ones who had capitalized on the situation to spread rumors of Edmund’s potential death.
In comparison to the mighty Abyss Demons, the Amethyst Saint was the only member of the Ancient Elder Council capable of standing as an equal to the Earth Demon Lord. The End Dragon Bird was merely at the Late Stage of Level 10, while the others fluctuated between the Early and Mid Stages of Level 10.
If Edmund survived and possessed the power to kill the Earth Demon Lord, he could essentially dismantle the Council of Ten Thousand Clans by himself. If that were the case, what point was there for this council to exist?
It was no wonder the Nora Council had largely ignored the Council of Ten Thousand Clans until now; perhaps Edmund never viewed them as worthy adversaries.
Am I actually the clown here?
While the previous Master of the Dusk Palace had caused some ancients to feel uneasy, the current Edmund was truly terrifying.
Several strategists were already plotting their retreats, hoping to scatter like disciples after a master's fall. However, given that Edmund’s status remained unconfirmed, they stayed their hand, still harboring a flicker of hope that he might be finished.
In a dark corner, the heart of the Dark Sun Sovereign sank.
"Is this my defeat?"
He whispered to himself, feeling a sense of despondency. Long ago, Edmund had issued a wager through the Black Sun’s mouth, and it appeared this protracted bet was reaching its conclusion.
Frowning slightly, the Amethyst Saint spoke up:
"I am aware of your thoughts. However, do not forget that once you boarded the massive vessel of the Council of Ten Thousand Clans, there was no path back. Do you honestly believe the Nora Council will grant you mercy during their inevitable reckoning if you desert now?"
Nevertheless, his threats carried little weight with figures like the End Dragon Bird or the Void Emperor, who were not Plane Sovereigns.
As a Level 10 being, if I hide in some desolate corner of the cosmos and never resurface, Edmund surely cannot find a single needle in such a vast haystack, can he?
The Void Emperor had already resolved to depart. He planned to find a moment to sever the bonds of the Covenant Sword, lead his people far beyond the Pan-Plane, and vanish into seclusion.
The End Dragon Bird felt even more resentful.
He hadn't even consumed many true dragons, yet he was nearly turned into a sacrificial lamb for the Council of Ten Thousand Clans. If the Fire Sovereign hadn't intervened last time, Edmund’s sun probably would have turned him into a "roast chicken" by now.
Suddenly, a sense of instability gripped everyone within the Council of Ten Thousand Clans. This great power, which had stood in opposition to Nora for two thousand years through both cold and hot wars, was now on the verge of collapsing.
...
On the Ancient Dragon Continent.
Figures were scurrying about, tidying the ruins of the battlefield and hauling away the remains of demons. As a silver shuttle touched down, the crowd offered their salutations.
"Welcome back, Hall Master."
Levi offered a smile and replied:
"It brings me great pride to see you all hold your positions during such a brutal conflict on the Ancient Dragon Continent. I am increasing the war merit rewards for everyone by 5% over the standard rate."
"Excellent!"
"Our thanks to the Hall Master!"
Upon returning to the Dusk Holy Temple, Levi’s grin widened after reviewing the Green Bird Knight’s report on the bloody struggle. He couldn't help but offer praise: "Well done!"
Despite the ferocity and danger of the war, the casualty rate for the various battle groups on the Ancient Dragon Continent was under ten percent, and civilian losses were almost non-existent. At the war's onset, all mortals had been successfully evacuated to the 49 Star Castles.
Even without the official tally, Levi suspected that the losses sustained by other wizard organizations were significantly higher than his own.
From what he gathered, the Burning School of Thought had seen two sky cities from the Nine Cities Alliance plummeted after being struck by demons. While not a total wipeout, it was enough to effectively erase two premier wizard organizations. Notably, one of these was Norn City, the birthplace of Simon.
The damage to other Schools of Thought was equally severe, with hundreds of wizard groups flickering out of existence during the conflict.
Among the alien races, dozens of newly established continents were completely decimated.
Naturally, given Nora's massive population today, the percentage of casualties in this war was actually lower than the previous two Great Wars.
The Ancient Dragon Continent's success was largely due to the protection of top-tier experts like the Guardian Four Dragons, but the contributions of Bright Sun and the Mechanical School were the most critical factors.
For instance, had the elite Fish Demons not been eradicated early on, they would have certainly inflicted devastating casualties in the later stages of the battle.
Furthermore, every "supernova" of the Ancient Dragon Continent had survived.
In contrast, the Fire Dragon Knight had been severely wounded. His aggressive nature led him to engage two Level 8 Early Stage demons despite only having a Level 7 Peak body. Consequently, demonic Qi had invaded his system, and he was currently undergoing a process of purification and healing.
