A look of concern crossed his face: "What is the status of the Grand Council Chairman?"
Gullwig, who had also been forced into recuperation after the repeated strain of using Giant Power, flew over and spoke: "He should be alright. He understands better than anyone that while other demons might be allowed to flee, the Earth Demon Lord had to be destroyed. If the four Great Demon Lords were to unite, Nora would face a devastatingly difficult struggle."
Meanwhile, on the field of combat.
Within the North Sea region, Levi stood clad in his Blood Battle Armor, his form drenched in Demon Blood. He had kept every enhancement active for an entire month, excluding only the mental amplification. Thanks to his incredibly resilient physique, these continuous buffs resulted in no negative repercussions.
Since the onset of this third full-scale invasion, the number of demons he had slaughtered was beyond counting. He only knew that among the fallen, there were eleven at level 9 alone!
Leon had already gorged himself to capacity, filling a literal warehouse with preserved essence. He had returned to his slumber, expecting that upon his next awakening, he would truly ascend as the King of the Underworld.
Standing beside Levi were four silent figures radiating the power of early level 9: the Shadow Demon, Flame Demon, Wind Demon, and Stone Statue Demon. Having been the first to reach this rank, they were known as the "Four Great Demon Kings!"
Behind these kings stood sixty-six monsters, each possessing a level 8 aura, followed by a vast throng of level 6 entities. In a mere month, the Shadow Dragon Group’s collective power had undergone a radical transformation. They alone were the witnesses to Levi’s path of carnage.
As for the Blood Battle Spirit, its presence had surged to the peak of level 9. It was an indispensable partner in Levi’s successful hunt of so many high-level demons.
It was no exaggeration to claim that Levi was responsible for a third of the success in suppressing the North Sea demon calamity. It was unavoidable; demons relentlessly pursued him wherever he appeared. He had effectively drawn the attention of all monsters to himself.
This distraction allowed the North Sea battle groups the breathing room to reinforce other maritime zones and continents. Through this butterfly effect, Nora’s victory in the ground-level war was virtually guaranteed, provided the upper-level powerhouses held their own.
Levi stared toward the crimson radiance emanating from the Land of Darkness.
He was uncertain of the current state of that conflict, as the power levels involved were far beyond his current reach. While he might have dared to intervene against a standard level 10, the presence of two Demon Lord level entities meant he would likely be nothing more than an encumbrance.
"Everything should turn out fine."
Levi regulated his breathing and deactivated his armor’s effects. Feeling a sense of relief, he began his flight toward the Ancient Dragon Continent. After a month of ceaseless, high-intensity Cultivation through combat, fatigue had finally set in, and he required rest.
...
As the months rolled by.
Word of the Earth Demon Lord’s fall and the subsequent retreat of high-ranking demons reached Nora, sparking widespread celebration. On the terrestrial battlefronts, the morale of wizards and the Nora Wan Clan soared, leading to a string of victories. Realizing the tide had turned against them, the demons fled Nora in a state of disgrace.
Nora Year 1546.
Blood Battle Year 1434.
The third grand invasion, which had raged intermittently for over half a year, finally began to wane. Aside from a few new territories and the Demon Territory Restricted Areas in the Four Seas that remained tainted by Demon Blood, the total eradication of the remaining demons was now only a matter of time.
However, a troubling rumor eventually began to spread among the common folk. It suggested that Grand Council Chairman Edmund had exhausted his very life essence to slay the Earth Demon Lord. Rumors claimed his remaining lifespan was so diminished he might not survive another millennium. The Nora Council eventually released an official statement, dismissing these claims as fabrications spread by demons and the hostile Council of Ten Thousand Clans.
Despite this, Edmund himself never appeared to debunk the claims. The public's reasoning was straightforward: if he were healthy, he would show himself. Yet, since that cataclysmic battle, he had remained unseen.
Consequently, the joy of victory was overshadowed by anxiety and dread. Many feared their peace was a fragile illusion that would shatter upon Edmund’s death in a thousand years, worried that no successor was strong enough to replace him. In a Blood Battle against the Abyss, a standard level 10 powerhouse simply wasn't enough.
...
Deep within the Land of Darkness.
The death of the Earth Demon Lord made this campaign a catastrophic failure for the demons, with losses far exceeding any previous conflict.
The core issue was that the four Great Demon Lords were essential for reshaping the fundamental forces of Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water; without them, they functioned as nothing more than typical ground-level Abyss Lords.
Worse still, the Earth Demon Lord left no clear heir. The most powerful Earth Demon remaining was the Demon Statue King, Kant, of the 400th Abyss layer. Currently only at the middle stage of level 10, he was incapable of assuming the mantle.
Terrified by the sheer power Edmund had displayed, the demon high command relocated their headquarters countless miles away from Nora immediately after the battle, fearing a pursuit by the Council.
In truth, the Council was equally concerned that the demons might receive distant reinforcements and spring a trap, so they refrained from pursuing. The Abyss possessed depths that were far too profound. The demons could afford to fail a thousand times, but Nora could not survive a single defeat.
The Wind Demon Lord and several other wounded, weakened powerhouses gathered with somber expressions, uncertain of their next move.
"So much time has passed without Edmund appearing. Is it possible he has already perished?" the Lady of Desire questioned.
"If that is true, then the Earth Demon Lord’s sacrifice was not in vain," the Demon Statue King remarked with a sigh. Despite his words, the second-in-command didn't seem particularly mournful about his superior's death; in fact, he seemed somewhat pleased.
"Did Edmund finally manage to ascend to Level 11?"
"It is unlikely. If he had attained Level 11, would we have been able to retreat with our lives? Furthermore, had he reached that rank, the Chaotic Servant faction would have intervened, the astral world would have sought his life, and even the Underworld might have betrayed him. Following those massive historical shifts, the Four Great Giants would never permit such a powerful figure to rise. It is an old tradition."
