“Who’s there?!”
Qunnie Young’s reflexes were lightning-fast. The moment the Brown-robed Lord and the Black-armored Lord manifested, she launched a bomb directly at their position.
However, a spell cast so hastily without an incantation lacked sufficient power for someone of her level. The Brown-robed Lord easily intercepted it using a Giant Magic Shield woven from vines; the impact failed to leave even a faint scorch mark on the wooden surface.
“Is that the best you can do? Just a tickle? You are even more pathetic than I thought.”
A look of pure disdain crossed the Brown-robed Lord’s features as he mocked Qunnie Young, “I assumed you possessed some formidable skill, but it turns out you’re nothing special.”
Following his remark, both the Brown-robed Lord and the Black-armored Lord let out a boisterous laugh, eyeing Qunnie Young and Leo Ray as if they were nothing more than street performers.
“All you know how to do is skulk in the shadows…”
Hearing their taunts, a surge of irritation colored Qunnie Young’s pale face. Just as she prepared to focus her mind and chant a spell, Leo Ray reached out to stop her.
“Stay calm. Observe the environment.”
Leo Ray remained composed, his expression as still as a lake as he gave Qunnie Young a subtle nod.
Tracking his line of sight, Qunnie Young finally detected the thick, peculiar Magic Moss that was stealthily spreading around her and Leo Ray.
This Magic Moss lacked any luminescence and blended perfectly with the surrounding shadows, making it nearly impossible to see with the naked eye.
Upon realizing the trap, Qunnie Young’s heart sank.
Though these strange Magic Mosses hadn't fully matured, it was clear they served as the foundation for the Magic Vines that had lunged at them earlier.
Judging by the destructive force of those previous vines, if these plants were permitted to reach full growth, their position would become incredibly vulnerable, and she might even face instant death.
“It’s a relief Brother Chen spotted this so quickly, or we would have been in grave danger.”
A lingering sense of dread filled Qunnie Young’s pale face as she exhaled deeply.
Leo Ray’s voice rang out next: “Focus on eradicating this Magic Moss. I will take care of the rest.”
“Understood!”
Stabilizing her breathing, Qunnie Young began to brandish her Magic Wand, which was now overflowing with mana.
As bolts of thunder descended from above, the dense patches of Magic Moss were incinerated into ash one after another, though they continued to sprout in a relentless tide.
“Brat, you’re standing at death’s door, yet you still have the nerve to act tough.”
Seeing that Leo Ray had unraveled his scheme, the Brown-robed Lord’s face darkened. He hissed, “You are merely at the Tier 5 Peak. What kind of waves do you think you can make?”
With those words, the Brown-robed Lord slammed his long, cane-like magic wand against the floor. His aura erupted instantly. His brown robes and hair whipped about despite the lack of wind, radiating a suffocating pressure.
“A Half-step Tier 6? Yet that vine strike from before was definitely at the Tier 6 level. It seems he has a Plant-type Combat Talent and uses the Magic Moss to amplify his strikes, allowing him to trade blows with a true Tier 6 Expert.”
Leo Ray narrowed his eyes, silently calculating the enemy's capabilities.
His attention then shifted toward the Black-armored Lord.
The man wore a cruel smirk and showed no signs of energy leakage, appearing completely at ease and confident.
“This one might be the true threat.”
Leo Ray tightened his hold on Rolanddel and Odust, his body coiled like a spring ready to snap.
The battle within the sprawling ship cabin was reaching a fever pitch, filled with a chaotic mix of murderous intent and surging energy.
With the Water Attribute golem puppets suddenly entering a berserk state, the pressure on his allies had spiked, leaving them unable to provide any backup.
Essentially, given the current state of the battlefield, he was forced to duel these two foreign lords by himself.
As for his own hidden elites lurking in the shadows, Leo Ray chose not to deploy them yet. The enemy was clearly holding back their own subordinates and trump cards.
In a standoff this uncertain, revealing your hidden hand first would undoubtedly lead to a disadvantageous position.
“Die, brat!”
The Brown-robed Lord initiated the attack. His wooden staff glowed with mana as massive, knotted magical roots erupted from the floorboards beneath Leo Ray. They formed a colossal cage that began to constrict violently.
“Brother Chen, get out of there!”
Watching this, Qunnie Young’s pale face twisted with alarm.
She could sense the concentrated mana within those roots; they were incredibly resilient and possessed high resistance to magic.
If he were ensnared, escape would be nearly impossible. Even though she knew Leo Ray was capable of powerful spells, she couldn't see how he could survive being targeted like this.
After all, Leo Ray was only at the Tier 5 peak. Unless one possessed the overwhelming physical destructive power of someone like Ethan Young, a Tier 6 Physical-Type expert, this trap seemed inescapable.
Just as Qunnie Young’s anxiety peaked, flashes of brilliant sword light burst from within the closing cage of roots.
A moment later, the supposedly indestructible magical roots were hacked into fragments, tumbling uselessly to the ground.
As the debris settled, Leo Ray’s silhouette appeared once more, blades in hand.
