With stars shining in her eyes, Qunnie made a suggestion.
"I have already weighed that option, but you must remember the regulations: only the Lord who secures the treasure is permitted to exit and determine the destiny of the remaining Lords. Do you genuinely believe the winner would show us mercy? We would likely be abandoned here regardless, and nothing positive would come of it—it is practically a death sentence."
Ethan Young shook his head firmly, rejecting the idea: "It is far better to give this everything we have; perhaps we can seize a tiny fragment of hope."
"But what if the victor chooses to let us live?"
The light in Qunnie’s eyes faded as she whispered her question.
"Sister, do you truly believe there is another Lord of the Summer Realm present in this place?"
Ethan gave a helpless smile before adding: "Furthermore, those predators out there certainly won't spare us."
"But what if he is here? He would surely be far more powerful than we are!"
Qunnie clung to her optimism and persisted.
"Are you referring to Leo Ray?"
Ethan caught her drift immediately and gave a slight shake of his head: "Don't forget the details from the previous prompt; multiple Lord Arenas exist, and many rounds have already concluded or are happening at this very moment. The chances of us running into a powerhouse like him are slim."
In truth, Ethan was convinced they wouldn't encounter Leo Ray, but he kept his final comment vague to spare his sister's feelings.
Ever since the beginning, Qunnie had been completely fascinated by Leo Ray, who had secured numerous global firsts. She relentlessly polished her talent and skills every day, driven by the dream of standing by his side. It served as her primary inspiration.
As time went on, however, the siblings realized they had not spawned on the same continent as Leo Ray. This meant there was no possibility of fighting together, as Lords from different lands are unable to connect via the Chat Channel.
Ethan vividly recalled the look of extreme disappointment on Qunnie's face when she confirmed this; his sister had never looked so crushed, even when facing death in battle.
Yet, the knowledge that Leo Ray was still progressing provided the siblings with immense strength. Even if they were separated by distance, they were walking the same path as him.
Still, Ethan felt a growing concern because news regarding Leo Ray had completely dried up lately.
As the Lords advanced, the option to toggle world broadcasts became available, and no Lord—including Leo Ray—was using them anymore.
Because of this, Ethan had no way to verify Leo Ray's status; he even secretly worried if the legendary Lord had met his end somewhere.
Naturally, despite his internal anxiety, Ethan never voiced these doubts to Qunnie, fearing she would lose her sense of purpose.
"Sis, if it were Leo Ray, do you think he would ever stop moving forward?"
Ethan composed himself, his expression turning grave.
"Of course not; if Leo Ray were the type to quit, how could he have stayed at the very top, leading everyone else?"
A look of resolve appeared on Qunnie’s delicate features as she stated firmly: "He would undoubtedly push on without a second thought. If even a spark of hope exists, he won't retreat; even if there is no hope, he would forge it from his own heart to bring about the dawn."
"Exactly. That is why we cannot stop either; it is the only way we can dream of keeping up with Leo Ray."
Ethan brought the conversation back to the point, his eyebrows lifting slightly.
"Brother, when you put it like that, I really can't argue."
Having no other choice, Qunnie gripped her Magic Wand tightly, her eyes sparkling with renewed intensity.
After a short period of travel, Ethan suddenly received a report from their scouts: "Reporting to My Lord, a large number of Magic Traps have been detected in the cabin ahead—most are Tier 5, with a few Tier 6. They appear to have been recently placed using Magical Scrolls."
"Are there any alternative paths?"
Ethan asked after a moment of thought.
"My Lord, we have checked thoroughly; it is a central hub deep in the ship, but there is a small side passage. It looks empty, though we cannot be certain if more advanced Magic Traps are hidden there."
The scout's voice replied promptly.
"Understood; do not act recklessly; wait for us to arrive."
Ethan’s face grew serious as he shared the update with his group.
Before long, the party of over fifty, including Ethan and Qunnie, reached the location identified by the scouts.
A massive ship cabin lay before them, flanked by a narrow, pitch-black corridor where the darkness was so thick it was impossible to see one's own hand.
"What are your thoughts?"
Ethan consulted the powerful experts accompanying them after surveying the area.
"My King, while the small path looks clear, it may be the most treacherous; its narrowness prevents us from maintaining a proper formation."
Stroking his white beard thoughtfully, the Tier 6 elder Bishop remarked, "I recommend the main route—at least there, we can face the threats head-on."
The other experts nodded, clearly in agreement with the Bishop's assessment.
"Brother, the elder Chancellor is correct; I agree with him."
Qunnie nodded after sensing the environment: "We merely need to neutralize the Tier 5 Magic Traps as we go to keep moving into the heart of the ship."
"In that case, let us begin."
Ethan leveled his Long Spear and commanded: "The Magic-type experts under the elder Chancellor will disable the Magic Traps. The rest will serve as guards and sentries to ensure our progress remains uninterrupted!"
The experts saluted by placing their hands over their hearts and began their work with disciplined efficiency.
The group moved quickly through the wide cabin area, working in perfect sync. The Magic Traps—positioned on floors, corners, and ceilings—thrummed with hostile Magical fluctuations before being rendered harmless, clearing the way forward.
However, as they reached the center of the cabin, the atmosphere shifted abruptly.
The elder Bishop turned back, looking confused, and reported to Ethan: "My King, the Magic Traps ahead are weakening. They seem to be deactivating on their own, as if the path is being cleared for us."
"Deactivating on their own? How can that be?"
Ethan was stunned for a second before the realization hit him. He shouted in alarm: "Retreat immediately! The Magic Traps aren't the real danger—the entire cabin is the trap!"
Before Ethan could finish his warning, massive surges of Energy erupted from every side. Dark shadows flooded the hallways, completely surrounding Ethan and his followers.
"Heh, you only realized it now? Unfortunately, you're too late."
A thin, flickering male Lord stepped out from the darkness, his voice sounding eerie: "If you lacked the wit to see through such a simple trick, you don't deserve to live. Allow me to remove you from the world."
"Acting so high and mighty after using such cowardly tactics—how pathetic. Don't think for a second that the Lords of the Summer Realm will submit to you!"
Qunnie's wand glowed with a purple light as she let out a cold snort.
"Oh? I didn't expect to find such a prize here."
The lanky Lord looked down with arrogance, his sunken green eyes narrowing as he scanned Qunnie's figure. A crude smile touched his lips as he sneered: "A Lord of the Summer Realm, is it? Let's see if you actually have any skill."
Listening to the man's malicious words, cold sweat began to pour down Ethan’s forehead.
He could sense with terrifying clarity that their opponent's strength was at least ten times greater than his own.
