Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1561: Blood and Snow

Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Adam and Silvana's shared ability, Imaginary Cut, transformed into Imaginary Blades at her decision, granting him dual purple-outlined weapons capable of devastating precision. As monsters closed in during the snowy battle, Adam swiftly dispatched a towering beast with intersecting slashes, leaving no blood on his clean blades. He then unleashed a detached blade to fell a giant bird from afar, instilling fear in the horde as he carved through wolves and fleeing foes with blurring speed. Vaarh, observing the carnage, abandoned his plan to exhaust Adam and intervened, clashing spear against blades to halt the onslaught.

Unexpectedly, Adam's single newfound power had elevated him to such formidable heights.

Surpassing even Vaarh's astonishment, Alexia found herself utterly stunned by the unfolding scene.

"He's simply slicing through them..." she whispered, scanning the surroundings.

Dozens of beasts fell swiftly and savagely, their lifeless forms scattered across the ground in a gruesome path marking Adam's rampage.

"Fine, time for me to jump back in. I can't just idle here!" As her vitality reached its minimum threshold, she rose to her feet.

Though it seemed improbable for Alexia to deploy the frost seal again at such depleted strength, it sufficed to call forth her Nexus and engage the creatures in battle.

While Adam's fresh skill boasted remarkable might, Alexia's absorption of the Ancient Frost positioned her ahead of him. Her reserves were greater, and far more concentrated than his.

Eliminating every last monster would propel them nearer to triumph.

"Agh?"

Regrettably, Vaarh grasped this reality too.

For that reason, he stepped in just before disaster struck.

Clang!

Sparks erupted from the iron spear, uniquely positioned to halt Adam's ethereal blades amid the chaos.

Alexia noticed this, blinking repeatedly in surprise.

"He's choosing to shield the monsters?"

"Seize this opening," Louis's voice echoed in her mind. "The beasts fear you and Adam too much to aid Vaarh. Strike him now, two against one."

That encouragement was precisely what she required, prompting a broad grin as she balled her fists.

"Right, let's demonstrate to this haughty dragon our true prowess!"

Step.

She slammed her foot down, creating a deep pit, then propelled herself ahead.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Vaarch whirled his spear at astonishing velocity to parry every one of Adam's assaults.

Despite Adam wielding dual blades and Vaarh merely his spear, the weapon's extended handle proved more than adequate for defense.

Adam's brow furrowed as yet another shower of sparks burst nearby.

'This feels off.' Heightened caution gripped Adam. 'How is this possible? My pace is blistering, my endurance waning fast, but he tracks every motion and counters flawlessly.'

Maybe Adam would shift strategies, pulling back to strike from a flanking angle.

Yet in that instant, a new sensation hit him.

"Hmm?" His gaze expanded as an icy breeze rushed from the flank.

BAM!

A frozen fist collided with the right side of Vaarh's jaw.

Not even he could foresee such a maneuver.

Pain and shock twisted his features as the force hurled him laterally at breakneck speed.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Vaarch's rear crashed through multiple ice formations in his trajectory, then he flipped mid-air to land steadily on his feet.

Adam pivoted to find an ecstatic Alexia positioned in front of him.

"Yes! Solid strike! Catch that blow, Adam?!" She shouted, pumping her fist.

Vaarch's expression soured.

"Tch, you're no Phantom, just a feral creature."

He ejected a glob of blood and flexed his jaw. Though merely one strike, its force was potent enough to trouble Vaarch significantly.

However... Adam refrained from hasty jubilation.

Rather than commanding the monsters to assist or repositioning strategically, Vaarch simply adopted a combat posture.

With a gesture, lightning coursed through his form, infusing him with a burst of power.

Adam and Alexia shared a look. Sly grins spread across their faces at the same moment.

No words were necessary; the glint in their eyes and a subtle nod sufficed to launch their assault.

Whoooooooosh.

Their bodies blurred as they both disappeared from view, charging toward Vaarch.

The remaining monsters, still too terrified to face Adam and Alexia, appeared bewildered. They couldn't fathom Vaarch's bold choice.

Furthermore, they held no faith that one beast alone could withstand Phantoms of Adam and Alexia's caliber.

Precisely for that reason, Vaarch intended to prove them wrong. He recognized his power's boundaries and knew he hadn't approached them yet.

'Bring it on, strike.'

Vaarch's eyes flickered as Adam and Alexia materialized directly before him. Now he faced not just twin ethereal blades, but also Alexia's glacial punches to evade and deflect.

Yet no dread showed in Vaarch's stare. Defeat appeared utterly inconceivable to him.

Clang!

The pair of blades collided with his spear while Alexia surged in. Her punch, enveloped in thick energy, aimed squarely at Vaarch's flank. Such a landing blow could shatter ribs and trigger severe internal damage.

However... Vaarch perceived it all.

THUMP!

He lifted his leg and, in a swift pivot, trapped Alexia's wrist against the earth.

"Agh?" Alexia's eyes bulged in shock.

Without pause, Vaarch twisted his upper body and drove his knee forcefully into Alexia's visage.

Blood sprayed from her lips, but Vaarch ignored her now, refocusing on Adam gearing up for another onslaught.

Clang. Clang. Clang.

The weapons met repeatedly each second, making Adam's grip shake and sweat glisten on Vaarch's brow.

Yielding was not in either's nature.

Adam's gaze sharpened as he thrust ahead, seeking to pierce Vaarch's torso with his blades.

But...

That move was precisely what Vaarch anticipated.

Whooooooosh.

He plunged his spear into the terrain like a pole, clutched the handle firmly with both hands, elevated himself, and then smashed both heels into Adam's midsection.

"GRH!"

Agony etched across Adam's features as the blow catapulted him toward the closest ice spire.

"What's next?" Vaarch's smug tone resounded as he flourished his spear.

Alexia cleared the blood from her nostrils and eyed Adam emerging from the frozen rubble.

A fresh strategy was essential, and urgently.

Fortune favored them both, as Silvana possessed one.

"Adam, I know exactly what we must do."
