Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1560: Imaginary Blades
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Adam and Silvana possessed a pair of joint abilities, activatable solely when their energies merged together.
The Imaginary Cut and Future of the Past.
At this moment, one such ability underwent a transformation. Silvana held complete control over the choice. Adam exerted no sway over which power would receive this fresh form. He harbored absolute faith in her judgment.
Clutch. Clutch.
Moments after the pair of blades—extensions of the scissors—settled into Adam’s hold, a gleam sparked in his eyes.
[Imaginary Cut has been changed and transformed into another ability.]
[New ability obtained – Imaginary Blades.]
[Imaginary Blades
[The cut that required the strength of both of you to create brought you many victories, but with your growing strength, the dangers of the world around you became more formidable as well. Now, you need a weapon capable of more than one precise, deadly cut, and that weapon is in your hands.]
True to form, the explanation offered no exact guidelines on the ability’s use, yet as it integrated into his arsenal, Adam instinctively grasped its potential.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
The creatures drew nearer. Those hollow blades edged in violet, gripped by Adam, failed to intimidate them. This wouldn’t mark the initial Phantom swordsman they’d overwhelm and shred. Or so they believed, right up until Adam advanced with his initial stride.
These blades remained linked to the scissors, suspended between pure energy and solid form.
‘This will secure the victory,’ Adam mused, lifting his gaze.
The massive creature loomed above, its mighty jaws agape and muscles quivering. It was the very same that had lunged at Adam before, when he’d countered with his needle in defense.
The beast brimmed with assurance that it could now overpower Adam, yet... the truth proved otherwise.
Step.
Adam surged ahead, his body dissolving into a streak.
Instantly, he positioned himself behind the beast, moving with such velocity that the monster couldn’t process a thing.
Crack. Crack.
A pair of crossing gashes erupted across the beast’s torso, with the initial beads of blood emerging right before its vision.
In a burst of red, the beast’s gaze dulled as it tumbled down. A shudder coursed through its bulky frame, though every eye locked onto Adam and his blades.
Not a trace of blood marred the imaginary blades. The strike had been flawless, denying the beast any hope.
Furthermore, the Black Threat Monsters weren’t fools. They recognized that Adam’s swiftness wasn’t the sole issue, but also the lethal edge of his blades. Uncertainty gripped them—could even the sturdiest shield or toughest skin withstand his strikes?
"Groh!" "Grho!" "Groooh!"
Within the horde lurked a few airborne foes. The broad-winged birds circled high over the fray and, obeying Vaarh’s command, fixated on a single prey: Adam.
Yet this posed no challenge for Adam anymore. He didn’t require energy jumps to close the distance to the birds.
He simply lifted his arm.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
The blade on his right side quivered then vanished.
"Agh?"
Puzzlement washed over Alexia’s features as she struggled to comprehend the event.
"GROON!"
A howl of agony echoed from the skies, compelling every monster to tilt their heads upward.
The imaginary blade, moments ago clutched in Adam’s fist, impaled the enormous bird, unleashing a gush of blood.
Beyond that, the imaginary blade pressed on, slicing through beasts until injuries proved fatal.
In the end, the ravaged corpse plummeted nearby, close to the earlier fallen beast.
Tap.
Slicing the air, the imaginary blade flew back to Adam’s grasp, his expression showing no weariness.
Step.
Adam pressed on as the monsters parted ways. Their boldness in overcoming the solitary Phantom shattered. None desired to become his subsequent victim.
They remained unaware that upon activating this power, Adam resolved to ensure no survivor escaped the snowy field.
"All enemies will be defeated," Adam whispered to himself, crouching low.
Whoooooooooosh.
Resembling a fierce gale, Adam charged ahead, plunging into the midst of the white wolves that had repeatedly attempted assaults on him without success.
At last, the pack seized the chance to swarm him entirely.
"GRH!!!"
The white wolf snarled, its gaze mirroring the purple blade.
Blood sprayed as the wolves’ heads soared skyward. In a single arc, Adam claimed three lives, severing their necks.
Step.
Adam slammed the earth, stirring a surge of snow, then veered elsewhere.
The quintet of monsters blocking his path attempted escape, but prior to grasping the chaos, Adam barreled past, scattering lifeless forms in his wake.
Vaarh squinted.
‘This spells trouble. At this rate, he’ll eliminate every monster here in under three minutes. Actually, complications arise even before that. Once he fells another dozen or so, the survivors will see they stand no chance. They’ll deem Adam unbeatable.’
That outcome clashed with Vaarh’s intentions. He aimed to exhaust Adam and Alexia, paving the way for an effortless triumph.
"I see..." Vaarh murmured while brandishing his spear. "My primary strategy failed, so it’s time for the contingency."
Whoooooooosh.
Like a specter, Adam weaved through the icy spires, spotting his subsequent quarry—the bull, which, for all its bulk, was already fleeing.
In Adam’s current mode, no being dared confront him, not even these mighty beasts.
But Adam proved relentless.
One more instant, and his blades would claim the bull, sealing its fate.
Clang!
Precisely then, Vaarh materialized before Adam, his blades colliding head-on with the iron spear.
"Enough of carnage."
Adam’s eyes tightened.
"I’ve only just begun!"
