Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 1882.5 - All chaos (4)
Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
"Gurui Star Race." Ji Ruiguang smeared the blood from his face and gave a nod.
One couldn't deny that, likely due to his elevated status even prior to the apocalypse, the head of the Resistance Zone carried a commanding presence in every word and gesture. Ye Zhongming fell short in this regard.
The Cloud Peak King possessed a deeper sense of composure, particularly during moments of slaughter.
"I've heard that a seed of the Sacred Tree resides within your bodies. As it expands, it permeates every part of your limbs and skeleton. It establishes a symbiotic bond with you, granting immense power."
While speaking, Ji Ruiguang guided his group to merge with Ye Zhongming and He.
"What's truly astonishing is how this entity within you not only boosts your strength but also bestows an extraordinarily extended lifespan."
"Do you realize? Back on my native world, eternal life belonged solely to those who had achieved immortality. The pursuit of a longer existence was the greatest aspiration harbored by countless aged citizens in the nation."
"That's why I'm immensely intrigued: if we extract the Sacred Tree from inside you and implant it into some other creature, would it take root as well? Should it succeed, bringing it to Earth, I believe plenty of folks would gladly surrender all their wealth to acquire it, wouldn't they?"
The final remark targeted Ye Zhongming.
Ye Zhongming gave a shrug, signaling his concurrence.Even though they grasped only parts of Ji Ruiguang's words, the trio of Gurui Star warriors sensed the malice behind them. Fury boiled up. A pale green tint emerged across their features, while dark streaks began weaving over their forms.
This marked the telltale indicator of their species gearing up for combat.
"See, mere conversation sparks conflict. Yet in truth, I genuinely plan to slice into your forms and examine the appearance of that tree within."
With those words, Ji Ruiguang swiftly grabbed a bundle from a creature trailing him and tossed it carelessly to the earth. The bundle unfurled, exposing three severed human heads.
"Wuwukar Star people?" The Gurui Star Race identified this species instantly; their traits were far too unique. At their temples and ear backs, each bore four crimson flexible tendrils, typically draping beneath the eyes and under the nose, as though partitioning the visage.
These three heads showed that Ji Ruiguang and his allies had slain those full-grown fighters who had dropped from the skies before.
The Gurui Star individuals, poised to strike, felt their momentum falter a bit.
Though the Wuwukar Star people didn't rank among the top species, they maintained a steady intermediate level. The fighters they dispatched downward, while perhaps not matching the Gurui Star's prowess, came quite close.
Now, with three combatants of comparable might eliminated, it at minimum revealed one fact: the foes possessed the capability to eliminate them entirely.
Success remained uncertain.
Still, the very prospect warranted serious deliberation.
Engage in battle or hold back—that dilemma arose.
Yet a abrupt gleam of icy brilliance resolved it for the Gurui Star Race.
Ji Ruiguang's left hand unleashed that chilling flash.
His previous statements weren't mere empty threats, nor an attempt to intimidate through displayed might.
He was dead set on clashing.
The foremost Gurui Star fighter bellowed, his eyes shifting to a verdant shade. Abruptly, a green tendril erupted from the soil beneath him, lashing at the frosty gleam.
Ji Ruiguang's move ignited the fray. The score of followers he brought divided into three squads without delay, lunging at the three Gurui Star figures.
On either side, just three assaulted each path. But straight ahead, against the one who had spoken earlier, seven charged as one!
Evidently, Ji Ruiguang employed a strategy of isolating and overwhelming, targeting each Gurui Star member separately to fell them.
"He." Ye Zhongming uttered a single term. He nodded right away. She moved past Ye Zhongming to position herself behind Ji Ruiguang's seven-strong unit. A soft luminescence flickered in her palms, ready to unleash water chains whenever needed.
With Ji Ruiguang opting for battle, Ye Zhongming—whom he had rescued—couldn't simply stand idle. Though Ye Zhongming was sidelined from combat for now, he could at least deploy He to assist.
The Cloud Peak King scanned the skirmish briefly, then dropped to sit on the dirt, eyes half-shut, and surprisingly started to recuperate.
The primary Gurui Star fighter kept snarling, fending off assaults from every angle.
Encircling his frame, over a dozen tendrils now coiled thickly, thrashing outward with him at the core. At the same time, one arm morphed into an elongated wooden spike, the other into a pliable vine, seizing every chance to strike back at the adversaries.
Power nearing 2,000 Fureila offered dominance over a lone beginner fighter, yet against seven, it left him overpowered. Mere scores of seconds in, this Gurui Star warrior sported two fresh gashes on his body.
Naturally, he had wounded two beginners too, with their hurts proving graver.
A handful of tiny fruits burst from Ji Ruiguang's spatial storage, detonating upon impact with the ground and releasing a rosy vapor. The Gurui Star warrior failed to identify it initially but soon wailed and pulled back.
He noticed that the tendrils he depended on began contracting and drying out where the rosy vapor touched.
He remembered a type of toxic fumes—Stinging Dream Mist—employed by numerous species against the Gurui Star Race in ancient times, back when cosmic wars raged before Slave Races turned into the chief danger.
Eventually, this tactic lost its edge and faded from practice.
He never imagined this foe would wield such a weapon!
The cause for its abandonment was that Stinging Dream Mist barely affected more robust Gurui Star individuals. And as the most basic kin, they inevitably dreaded it to some degree.
This appeared to cue an escalation. Ji Ruiguang and his team pressed their assault with wilder fury.
He started summoning water chains, as she perceived these opponents were battling tooth and nail. Right from the outset, they scrapped with utter desperation, obviously determined to slay the foes. He comprehended this too. Given their power, it demanded five to scarcely manage one Gurui Star warrior. With merely three per side, they guarded fiercely with everything they had. Thus, those on the offensive had to strike with equal abandon.
Roughly twenty seconds into the clash, the initial shift happened. A beginner on the left side, taken by surprise, suffered a vine spearing through his shoulder and got yanked toward the adversary...
