Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 1881: All chaos (2)

Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
Ji Ruiguang confronted the Gurui Star Race warriors, revealing his intent to dissect them for the Sacred Tree seeds within their bodies that grant power and longevity. To intimidate them, he displayed the severed heads of three slain Wuwukar Star warriors, causing the Gurui members to hesitate despite their rising battle aura. The tension erupted into combat as Ji and his group launched a coordinated assault, dividing into teams to target each Gurui warrior individually, with Ye Zhongming directing He to support the main attack while he rested nearby. The leading Gurui fighter unleashed vines and thorns in defense, wounding two attackers, but Ji countered with Stinging Dream Mist that withered the vines, intensifying the desperate struggle. On the flank, a novice warrior suffered a severe injury, his shoulder pierced and dragged toward the enemy.

Back when the battlefield held just beginners, they weren't too concerned and were even willing to support Ye Zhongming's 'I Win' strategy.

Here, they had the chance to grow up, officially embarking on a growth trajectory much like that of numerous Cosmic races.

In time, they would commit to pursuing this strategy deep within themselves.

It didn't count as turning against their own people; this was something Ye Zhongming had settled with them in advance.

However, the circumstances shifted abruptly. Their personal pact didn't guarantee that the races supporting them would endorse a joint effort. The feuds among these races ran deep and tangled.

Upon hearing that every race could send out three fighters, Jie Kui and Helsky chose to seek out Ye Zhongming right away.

These pair consisted of one from the Star-Eye Clan, just like Ye Zhongming, and the other hailing originally from Earth. The 'I Win' strategy equated to the 'Earth Wins' strategy; he was bound to be aware and thus supported it wholeheartedly.

Both of them shared no disputes with Ye Zhongming; actually, in certain ways, their goals aligned closely.

They viewed the issue completely from Ye Zhongming's viewpoint.

Absent any outside pressures, even if various individuals harbored ideas inwardly, they would hold them back, maintaining at minimum a watchful stance.

Yet once the aura warrior's kin showed up in front of them, it dawned on them that numerous matters had slipped from their grasp.

It resembled a chain reaction of falling pieces. One after another, fighters who had come down from higher up located their kin and got escorted off.

There was nothing else to do; all of them carried red names.

Eventually, just Jie Kui, Helsky, and a single other fighter were left.

A fighter from the Luther Race who had arrived from above.

Indeed, the very same race that once attempted to enlist Ye Zhongming as their representative back in the Bright Water Realm test.

Helsky remained their representative in truth. This fellow had been misleading folks earlier, though it was more of an innocent fib. Holding back certain details served as a means of safeguarding himself.

This fighter tracked down Helsky, yet Helsky refused to return. Such blatant resistance left the fighter quite irritated; at one moment, he nearly dragged the man off by force.

However, Helsky's remarks caused him to pause.

Helsky declared: "Dragging me off would surely aim to rack up more points and climb higher in the standings. But is our Luther Race truly formidable? Can we stand a real chance against those dominant races? Even you, or the other two fighters who came down, how sure are you of overcoming warriors from the top races?"

"Your rush to grab me stems purely from my position offering you optimism. You could build on that solid start and keep pushing. That approach would let you fulfill your duty, even if the ultimate rank slips a bit from where I am now."

"But what would that demonstrate? It would only confirm we're stuck in the old rut: average at best, achieving zilch!"

"Let me be direct—what's my showing like compared to previous newcomers?"

"Impressive? Exactly. It highlights my strong potential. But do you grasp how I unlocked this potential?"

"Correct, by wagering alongside the current top-ranked individual."

"I'm heading to join him right now. The larger the group around him, the more secure he'll be, allowing his capabilities to fully emerge and eventually rock the whole cosmos."

"Let's take the risk. Should we fail at the end, it's merely my death. Worst case, you and the other two fighters perish too. It wouldn't hit the clan too hard. But imagine victory? What fate awaits me? You? The Luther Race? Staking something modest for huge rewards—I believe we have to roll the dice on this."

"What's your view?"

Thus, the fighter got convinced. He opted to trail Helsky and observe.

Maybe before locating that fellow called Ye Zhongming, he'd already meet his end?

………………………………

He pulled out a bit of water and gave some to Ye Zhongming.

That's right, the Cloud Peak King at present was utterly drained, not bothering to twitch even a single finger.

"You don't have to be so on guard. Do you honestly believe I'd strike at you?" After giving Ye Zhongming the water, He tapped him with a touch of frustration.

She detected that the guy next to her was nowhere near as frail as he seemed. He might have been that way before, but not anymore.

She marveled completely at this man's recuperative powers.

What a freak he was!

That technique from earlier had surely pushed past his bodily boundaries, inflicting serious harm or at minimum a massive strain on his frame. Yet in merely a brief period, he'd bounced back notably. She figured Ye Zhongming still retained some battle capacity.

"Not exactly. The rewards from sticking with me far outweigh anything you'd gain by offing me." Ye Zhongming gave an uneasy grin.

He had been watchful of He moments ago. His score and gear were genuinely alluring. Should He eliminate him, she'd lock in the top spot solidly, tough for anyone to overtake.

He felt fairly certain He wouldn't entertain such notions, but the world held uncertainties. Ye Zhongming needed to stay alert a tad. Who knew this woman's intuition ran so keen?

The technique Ye Zhongming employed before went by the name 'Ring Mountain Curse.'

This marked the fourth power bestowed by the Mountain King Crown. The prior three included:

Shrinking the Earth to an Inch (a teleportation power);

Feedback Force (an energy-storing boost);

Mountain Press Shadow (that colossal mountain phantom).

This power became available the instant Ye Zhongming acquired the Mountain King Crown. Regrettably, he couldn't activate it.

Upon reaching level nine evolution, his body ranked among Earth's elite. Still, the vitality within fell short of what this power demanded.

Attempting it would cost Ye Zhongming his life.

But in that prior crisis, Ye Zhongming needed to deploy this power. He was taking a chance, wagering that his power surge since entering this place had just hit the 'threshold.'

Though a risk, Ye Zhongming held some assurance. He understood his own progress best. Plus, he'd consumed the pill He crafted—the Advancement Pill—that mended his physical gaps.

Even in failure, thanks to the element spirits as backup, Ye Zhongming wouldn't perish, though the setbacks would hit hard.

Luckily, the bet paid off. 'Ring Mountain Curse' worked. He wasn't too worse for wear, merely profoundly exhausted. For several minutes, he lacked any fighting strength. Fortunately, his streak of misfortune appeared to lift after that half-beast discovered him. Up to now, no further foes had crossed their path.

Following a short break, the pair rose once more. The next red-name update loomed near; shortly, others would pinpoint their location.

Yet after just a handful of steps, they halted in unison, spotting that every descended fighter's position was now visible!

And right there, three green markers for their group sat under a hundred meters ahead in a direct path!
