A conversation regarding the fate of Wang Yue’s long-lost Second Aunt leads to a momentary loss of control, causing his hovercar to crash. While his cousins attempt to comfort him with the possibility that she is living a respected life within the Yang family, Wang Yue secretly vows to grow strong enough to protect those he has already lost. Meanwhile, in a distant, frozen palace, a powerful woman who bears a striking resemblance to Wang Yue’s mother monitors her family from afar. Despite learning of a looming threat against the families of Jinling by the Zhang family, she decides to withhold her intervention to test the capabilities of her nephew.

The lady dressed in white gazed at the figure in blue with a hint of bewilderment, secretly pondering: Why would the Palace Master take such an interest in the mundane technologies of the secular world?

Despite her curiosity, she remained silent, not daring to question the Palace Master’s supreme authority. After waiting for further commands that never came, she respectfully withdrew.

Once the woman in white had departed, a shadow of regret returned to the blue-clad woman’s features. She lamented the limitations of modern technology, which required manual installation of software for remote surveillance.

Because the agents she dispatched could not get close enough to the members of Jinling’s three great families to access their personal devices, she was forced to settle for placing bugs in their vehicles and other locations. This only granted her intermittent glimpses and sounds of their daily lives.

In truth, she had the power to order her disciples in Jinling to plant surveillance inside the very bedrooms and residences of the three families. However, she refrained from doing so, wishing only to watch over her family’s well-being without violating their private lives.

She believed that once the remote tracking system was perfected, she could monitor their every movement in real-time—an experience that would feel just like living by their side.

“Mother, Yan’er, please wait just a bit longer. In less than a decade, I will shatter that barrier. At that time, nothing will stop our reunion,” the woman in blue whispered to herself. She then shut her eyes and entered a state of meditation, drawing upon the frigid, pure energy emanating from the Xuanbing Throne.

Meanwhile, Wang Yue and his companions had planned to catch Chu Mo off guard with a surprise visit. However, upon reaching the gym, they were shocked to learn she hadn't been seen for three days. Knowing how much she prioritized the gym, her absence was a major red flag.

Su Xiu immediately pulled out her device to call Chu Mo, but the call failed to connect.

“Could something have happened to Mo Mo?” Su Jin asked, her voice trembling as she gripped Wang Yue’s arm. “What is our next move?”

“We are going straight to the Chu family estate,” Wang Yue declared without hesitation.

At this stage, his bond with Chu Mo was delicate. Visiting the Chu family as a mere friend would be simple, but as a potential son-in-law whose status wasn't yet official, his presence might be seen as intrusive. Nevertheless, with Chu Mo missing, Wang Yue threw caution to the wind and drove the three women toward the Chu residence.

The Chu family lived in a gated villa complex near the heart of the city, protected by walls that marked it as private land. Since Su Jin and Su Xiu were frequent guests due to their bond with Chu Mo, the guards allowed them through the gates without incident.

Guided by the twins, Wang Yue parked directly in front of Chu Mo’s villa. The group of four hurried to the entrance and rang the bell.

“Jin’er, Xiu’er, you’re here!” Xu Yanran exclaimed as she opened the door, her face lighting up at the sight of the sisters.

“Auntie Xu, we’d like you to meet our cousins, Wang Yue and Su Jiaojiao,” Su Xiu introduced. “Xiao Yue, Jiaojiao, this is Mo Mo’s mother, Auntie Xu Yanran.”

“Greetings, Auntie,” Wang Yue and Su Jiaojiao said in unison, offering a respectful warrior’s salute.

“Hello there, please come inside,” Xu Yanran invited. Her gaze lingered on Wang Yue with deep interest. Her daughter had spoken of this young man from the Wang family incessantly, showering him with praise. She was naturally curious about the boy who was five years her daughter's junior.

Her initial impression of Wang Yue was excellent; he appeared sincere and well-mannered, lacking the arrogant air often found in pampered Young Masters. This was a rare trait, especially considering that the three great families dominated Jinling and Wang Yue was the sole male heir among them. Despite being spoiled by his environment, he remained grounded, which convinced her of his good character.

As the saying goes, a mother-in-law finds her son-in-law more charming the more she looks at him. Wang Yue’s combination of kindness and handsome features left Xu Yanran very satisfied.

“Auntie Xu, where can we find Mo Mo?” Su Jin asked once they were settled in the parlor.

Xu Yanran’s face clouded over as she gestured toward the upper floor. “She’s locked in her bedroom. Her father confined her there and confiscated her phone. He declared she won't be released until she agrees to marry Zhang Qingtian.”

“How could Uncle Chu do that!” Su Xiu cried out in frustration. “In this day and age, how can he lock up his own daughter?”

Looking slightly flustered, Xu Yanran added, “I’ll call her father and tell him to let her out. He will surely listen to your requests.”

“That won't be necessary, Auntie. Uncle Chu will likely arrive shortly on his own,” Wang Yue remarked. “Sisters, let’s head upstairs to check on her first.”

Wang Yue knew that while the Chu family staff hadn't blocked them, they would certainly alert Chu Kuo to their presence, and he would arrive soon enough.

“Going up won't help much. The walls and doors of her room are reinforced; they can't be opened without the key,” Xu Yanran sighed. Secretly, however, she felt a sense of relief. Wang Yue’s obvious concern proved his feelings for her daughter were genuine. If Chu Mo chose him, even as a mistress, it would be a far better fate than marrying into the Zhang family.

If Zhang Qingtian weren't such a degenerate, Xu Yanran might have preferred him for the sake of her daughter’s social standing. No mother wanted her child to live without the status of a legal wife. But Zhang Qingtian’s character was beyond saving, making Wang Yue the far superior choice.

As for Wang Yue having a fiancée while pursuing Chu Mo, Xu Yanran had some reservations, but she wasn't overly bothered. She had grown accustomed to such complicated dynamics in their current society.

“It’s alright. Even if the door is locked, we can still talk to her through it,” Wang Yue said with a reassuring smile before standing up.

Su Xiu quickly rose to lead the way, while Su Jiaojiao followed close behind, unwilling to miss the drama. Su Jin remained downstairs to keep Xu Yanran company.
