The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1822: Taunting Tease

Rex gazed at the severed head of Duke Lorcan before shifting his attention back to Princess Davina.
He had figured this encounter would turn disastrous for him.
Indeed, rage had overtaken him, pushing him to act far beyond his original intentions.
Yet, Princess Davina revealed her fury stemmed not from his actions against the empire, but from his apparent disdain toward her. And to top off the shock, she arrived bearing her father's head in a precious container.
"Did you kill him?" Rex inquired, his eyes expanding in astonishment.
"No and yes," Princess Davina responded. "I granted the approval, and Lilliana carried out the deed."
"He was gathering the dispersed troops along with his loyalists to aid Emperor Dominar." Princess Davina's tone remained steady amid the grave revelation. "Leaving him unchecked would have given him no less than a million warriors aimed at pursuing you—or even negotiating with the Sky City."
"Even so," Rex glanced up at her in shock. "He's your father."
"That's ironic from you," Lilliana chuckled. "Aren't you an emperor yourself?"
Rex found himself speechless.
He served as an emperor in the Mortal Realm, yet his childhood lacked the lavish portraits and vast empty chambers of royalty. Instead, he grew up in modest surroundings, compelled to tread a harsh road akin to a noble's ruthless pursuit.
It continued to astonish him that they would take such a step.
"I wasn't born an emperor," Rex denied with a shake of his head, then eyed the sisters. "But are you certain about this? Beyond him being your father, he's the final male heir of the Castillon House. His death spells the end of the lineage. Without an heir, there's no continuation."
"Oh—that's quite bold of you to assume," Lilliana folded her arms beneath her chest and ran a finger along her lips. "I'm no longer tied to the house, true—but Davina remains a Castillon. Or are you implying she'll become a Silverstar now?"
"That's not what I meant," Rex muttered irritably.
He felt a bit annoyed by Lilliana's scrutinizing gaze sweeping over him.
"It's alright," Princess Davina stepped in. "We understood the implications fully and embraced them."
Rex chose not to pursue the matter.
While he might disapprove of such conduct, another side of him appreciated Princess Davina's choice. The idea that she would eliminate her own father and allow the empire to fall apart for his sake touched him deeply.
Naturally, her motives likely ran deeper than his own.
Disillusionment must have played a key role.
"We won't pretend this wasn't partly for our own wishes," Lilliana drew nearer. Her usually braided and tidy wavy hazelnut hair now flowed freely, swaying against her shoulders. "But it benefits you too, so you need to... return the favor."
"Hmm...?" Rex arched an eyebrow. "What exactly do you mean by that?"
"It means precisely that," Princess Davina moved in closer and bent toward his face. "For removing one of your major threats, you owe us repayment. Specifically for me," She flashed a warm, soft smile laced with a sharp undertone. "I want you to forsake April. Completely forsake her."
Rex hadn't pondered her demand much.
He possessed the System.
Whatever she desired could be supplied effortlessly, yet this request blindsided him entirely.
"Request something different," Rex brushed off her plea.
"Nothing else interests me," Princess Davina refused with a head shake. "That's my sole desire. She's nothing but trouble for you. Consider the recent events; she forced you to endanger yourself rescuing her. How often has that occurred?"
"Face it. You'd fare better without her," She urged in her sweetest tone.
Rex had never heard her sound so alluring.
"She didn't force my rescue. We were both ambushed and captured together," He countered.
"Nevertheless," Princess Davina inched even nearer. "I insist you abandon her."
"And you?" Rex questioned without facing Lilliana.
"As her elder sister, I want her happiness too," She answered with a playful lilt. "Fulfill her wish."
Rex felt trapped.
The pair had arrived with a shared purpose, turning the situation into two versus one.
"Eliminating Duke Lorcan doesn't justify ditching April," Rex spun around to return to his healing pool. "I doubt he'd forge any deal with the Sky City after my interference anyway. Pick another reward. I could grant you both additional powers."
"Refuse our demands," Princess Davina's words lingered. "And you'll forfeit our alliance."
Rex stopped short.
This reaction emboldened Princess Davina further. As a noble—and a skilled one—she excelled in bargaining and interpreting gestures. "An Alpha holds power only over a weaker Beta. But you hold no such dominance over me."
"Are you claiming that I..." Rex pivoted gradually to peer over his shoulder—his presence quaking the earth below. A deep rumble echoed from his throat in a growl, "Can't defeat you?"
Obviously, the direct answer was affirmative.
However, that wasn't her intended point.
In a contest of raw personal might, absent any aids, Rex couldn't prevail.
He remained an Eternal Spirit, whereas she embodied a Divine Spirit.
"Don't glare at me that way," Princess Davina's tone gentled. She avoided provoking Rex's wrath, yet this discussion was essential now. "I'm not challenging you. I just need you to pick me instead of her."
Lilliana nudged her waist from the rear, signaling her to curb her arrogance.
Holding back would only hinder them.
Confronting a figure like Rex with pride and fury proved unwise.
The sole way to sway a fierce, mighty being like him involved a gentle approach.
And that's the advice she had given Princess Davina prior to their arrival.
Princess Davina nibbled her lower lip and averted her gaze. "Please? I'm your fiancée still. And I'm not just asking—I'm pleading for you to leave her. Anything she offers, I can surpass and exceed. Grant me this, and I'll demonstrate it."
Rex tsked and rested both hands on his hips in thought.
Merely hours earlier, he had acknowledged April's place in his life.
And now, he faced demands to cast her aside once more.
It felt as if fate delighted in his turmoil.
"He's pondering," Lilliana linked her arm with Princess Davina's and murmured. "Didn't I warn you against letting him mull it over? Approach and make contact or similar. Werewolves drain both mind and body post-full moon."
"Sister, I've never laid hands on a man," Princess Davina whispered back in protest. "What makes you think I can manage that?"
Suddenly, Rex stood tall.
"Fine," He declared, startling the sisters. He faced them again. "Fine, I'll agree."
"You're truly committing?" Lilliana probed, somewhat surprised.
"Yes." Rex gave a casual shrug and resumed his path to the medical pool's emerald shimmer. "If you'll pardon me now. I was unwinding until a pair of sisters showed up without warning." He immersed himself in the hot liquid up to his v-lines. "Occupy yourselves elsewhere if you're staying out."
Rex reclined against the far side, resuming his prior stance.
His form truly craved this respite.
But his head jerked up at the splash of entering water.
Given their purposeful visit, he assumed the sisters would depart to handle the turmoil. Yet, that appeared unlikely. Across from him, Princess Davina sank in until the water lapped at her chin.
Her garments lay discarded on the floor, indicating her nudity.
"Aren't you a princess?" Rex lifted a brow.
"Indeed, and bathing with my betrothed holds no impropriety," She shot back firmly.
Rex averted his gaze from her and locked onto Lilliana.
A towel crafted from her vital energy served as her only shield—a thin, adhering veil across her front. It scarcely covered from her breast curves to her thigh meeting, exposing the remainder of her figure in the gentle illumination.
Unlike the more athletic Princess Davina, she boasted greater curves.
Perhaps due to her marital status.
Their gazes connected as she eased her extended leg into the pool to test the warmth.
"Eyes ahead," Princess Davina's command yanked him from his daze.
Lilliana laughed softly, her expression revealing delight at momentarily captivating Rex.
Rex cleared his throat and submerged deeper into the liquid.
Beyond that, the Blood Moon's lingering effects left him physically and emotionally exposed. His frame longed for recovery, stirring a desire for the Luna's closeness. With Evelyn absent, frustration gnawed at him.
"So, share details on your empire, Rex," Lilliana prompted, then amended. "May I address you as Rex?"
It served as an overt, sultry provocation. Lilliana overused his name, stretching it in a pitch above her usual, letting it fade into a breathy exhale. Every instance acted as an intentional, seductive lure.
Rex glanced at Princess Davina and noted her utter unawareness of the flirtation.
Only then did he grasp Lilliana's boldness.
Princess Davina proved far too naive in these matters.
"Call me whatever suits you," Rex dismissed with a shrug, quickly regretting it as Lilliana's eyes toyed with his words. "Ahem... My empire governs several racial kingdoms, making it the mightiest force across the continent."
"How dull," Lilliana waved it off. "Describe your wives. Their number? Your children? Any concubines?"
Rex simulated a cough upon hearing the barrage of queries.
"I doubt you'd care to hear—" He halted, noticing Princess Davina's keen interest. She leaned in, eyes alight with intrigue. "No official marriages, but say there are three. Four if pressed. No offspring yet. Actually, one is forthcoming. And no concubines."
"Oh... Such a small number," Princess Davina whispered, clearly pleased by the response.
"Just one child?" Lilliana scoffed skeptically. "A man like you with only one? Unlikely."
"And you?" Rex fixed her with a piercing stare. "Your children? Does your husband approve of your nudity before another male?"
"Four children. Before you, outsider conqueror, criticize—that's scant for my years," Lilliana replied, as she dampened and combed her hair using the healing waters. "My husband likely despises me for aligning with you, so it hardly signifies."
"Unfortunate husband," Rex mocked, still watching her intently.
Lilliana arched a brow, visibly irked by his remark, yet she brushed it aside.
Instead, she oriented toward him.
"Why inquire?" She propped her elbow on the rim, elevating her form slightly to nearly reveal her enticing left breast, then rested her cheek on her fist. "Assessing my availability? At merely three centuries, I'm plenty able to bear you one or two."
"One or two what?" Rex's breathing grew labored.
His chest heaved more than usual, as if air escaped him.
"Kids, naturally," A refined yet mocking grin crossed her features. She illuminated her hand beneath the surface for Rex to glimpse from above and teasingly circled her index finger just below her navel. "I'm highly fertile."
Crash—!
Suddenly, a cavern wall some ten meters away collapsed.
Rex and Lilliana swiveled toward Princess Davina, spotting her flushed crimson face.
"Did you forget my presence? Cease the flirting!"
