Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2012: Same source? (1)

As the orcs neared evolution through the strange energy barrier, Shota prepared to strike them down to prevent their growing strength. The newly hatched qilin beneath him communicated telepathically, insisting it would handle the threat, and Shota felt an inexplicable connection that stayed his hand. The qilin intensified its energy, overloading the orcs and causing painful mutations that swelled their bodies like overfilled balloons. Despite their desperate struggles, the orcs exploded in a burst Shota contained with ice, leaving him unsettled by the qilin's ruthless efficiency and the similarity of its power to his own divine energy.

Even if the orcs who ambushed us were now defeated, the threat lingered on.

After all, plenty of other monsters remained in the area.

Those orcs had pushed forward the farthest and come nearest to our position, yet that didn't imply the absence of additional beasts. Simply put, our backup forces had rushed in to aid us.

While fleeing and buying time, we'd summoned help from the racial alliance, and at last, they showed up.

Right now, these allies handled the remaining creatures swarming the place.

Still, they couldn't keep the monsters at bay indefinitely.

A good number of beasts had pursued us relentlessly, and even greater hordes arrived as enemy support.

The racial alliance's arriving forces paled in comparison to the monster numbers. They'd stalled the advance briefly by catching the foes off guard, but holding out forever was impossible.

"Are there more reinforcements on the way?" I questioned the figure who appeared to command these racial alliance arrivals.

"We were the quickest to respond, so we got here first. Additional groups are en route, but it'll be a while before they join us."

I'd suspected as much upon spotting this initial wave of help.

The racial alliance had deployed their swiftest transportation options, though such resources were limited in quantity. Thus, only so many troops could deploy via these means.

This approach stemmed from uncertainty about our endurance, prompting them to at least ease the immediate strain.

Yet, no one anticipated the monsters sending their own reinforcements.

"How many of these stragglers slipped away and regrouped here?" I blurted out loudly, drawing the attention of several nearby.

The racial alliance fighters who overheard displayed bitter expressions, yet they pressed on against the beasts without pause.

They understood the need to endure until further aid arrived, or survival would prove impossible. Hence, they stayed vigilant every instant against the threats before them.

I realized too that confronting these monsters fell to me as well, or we'd have no hope of prevailing.

However, amid the chaos of so many combatants, finding ways to contribute effectively proved challenging.

Facing the forces of Destruction was one matter; battling mere monsters was another entirely.

My divine energy only damaged corruption energy-based monsters and spared allies when unleashed against Destruction's troops. Actually, it could even enhance our side if directed toward them.

Physical strikes powered by magic or divine energy behaved differently.

Such blows risked injuring comrades, preventing reckless deployment, even as they formed the bulk of my abilities.

Unknowingly, I'd built myself into an area-of-effect mage specialist.

While pondering my options against these beasts, the qilin spoke up again unexpectedly.

"Let's team up, master. My divine energy alone falls short for dealing with them, so I require your assistance."

A puzzled glance escaped me toward the qilin, as its words struck me as odd.

The qilin's form of address had unmistakably labeled me 'master'.

Yet, I recalled no pact with the qilin that would position me as its 'master'.

Still, this wasn't the moment for dwelling on it, surrounded as we were by hordes of monsters. Any clarification would wait until we'd cleared the surrounding dangers.

"How do I do it?" I inquired of the qilin following a brief pause.

"Simply lift me up. With physical contact between us, our powers can merge."

Doubts lingered in my mind, but I hoisted the qilin as instructed.

The instant I did, the qilin's intent became clear.

Upon touching, a bond instantly linked us.

I perceived the qilin's essence, while my own strength surged toward it.

Clearly, though, dominance rested with me.

Should I choose to halt it, the qilin couldn't draw upon my power at all.

"Let's do this, master." The qilin declared with an upbeat tone, despite the terror of its impending action.

I offered no words, merely a nod in agreement.

With that signal, energy radiated outward from the qilin.

As the monsters detected this surge, they erupted into a mad frenzy, alarming the racial alliance reinforcements. But calm returned when I commanded, "Let them through."

Hesitant as they were, they obeyed and allowed the beasts to meet the oncoming energy wave.

Yet upon collision, the monsters' faces twisted—from gleeful anticipation to sheer terror.

Awareness of their peril gripped them, filling them with dread, but escape remained beyond reach.
