Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2011: Too much of a good thing

Just before the orc managed to approach the qilin, an extra barrier of peculiar energy blocked its path.
A broad grin spread across the orc's face as it got halted in this way, like it actually relished being confined like that.
I understood exactly why they reacted this way, thanks to the transformations I could observe in their forms.
It looked like only moments remained until they advanced to the following stage of their evolution, no matter what form that might take.
The issue lay in how much more powerful they would grow upon hitting that next evolutionary step. Letting them continue building strength unchecked posed a real threat.
That's why I lifted my hand, readying myself for a strike.
It made sense to strike them down before things escalated further.
Or at least, that would have happened if a voice hadn't suddenly echoed in my mind.
"Let me take care of them."
At first, I had no clue where this voice originated, but then it hit me—it came from the freshly hatched creature. It emanated from the qilin beneath me, gazing up at me.
I'd been correct about the egg possessing its own consciousness; I just hadn't anticipated the qilin communicating right after breaking free from its shell.
Exchanging thoughts with this newborn entity, only minutes old, felt truly odd.
Even though I harbored uncertainties about how the qilin planned to handle these orcs, I ultimately stayed silent. Deep down, something in me simply trusted that the qilin could manage the orcs by itself.
So I held back, curious to witness the qilin's actions.
This trust felt inexplicable, yet an instinctive faith assured me the qilin could act despite our first encounter.
Words failed to capture it fully, but if pressed...
It truly seemed like some bond linked me to this qilin.
I couldn't fathom how this link had formed, but its presence felt undeniable.
Initially, the qilin appeared idle, merely watching the orcs suspended by the energy it had unleashed.
Yet change arrived swiftly.
More of that energy began pouring forth from the qilin.
My brows furrowed slightly upon sensing this, uncertain of the qilin's intent. But soon enough, its purpose became clear as the orcs' faces twisted.
At first, their looks showed delight from savoring the energy's influx. Now, though, fear gripped them, and the energy seemed to torment them.
This shift defied easy logic, but the obvious cues left no room for doubt.
"Squee!"
The orcs cried out in agony, desperate to flee the bizarre energy they'd welcomed moments before.
As this unfolded, bizarre alterations twisted the orcs' bodies.
These weren't like the prior enhancements that boosted their might.
Rather, sections of them ballooned unnaturally, as if overloading on power turned harmful against them.
This scene evoked a balloon stuffed with excess air, inching toward bursting from the strain.
The orcs fought desperately against this fate, thrashing against the binding energy. Yet no matter their efforts, they couldn't shatter its hold.
Indeed, their strength drained away with each passing second.
Evidently, this mutation offered them no benefit.
It twisted them in the exact reverse direction.
I squinted at the orcs, trying to decipher the phenomenon, until a old proverb from my previous life surfaced.
Even something beneficial could turn toxic in excess.
Like those who indulged endlessly in overeating or laziness...
Recognizing boundaries mattered, and unchecked greed led to ruin.
For these orcs, the forced surge of evolutionary energy fueled their changes. But they couldn't process it all, causing their bodies to inflate like overfilled balloons.
Eventually, after what felt like ages, they exploded.
I'd foreseen this and encased the orcs in a shield of ice beforehand. So when they burst, no fragments flew toward me.
Once the orcs detonated, the qilin turned its gaze to me, as if anticipating approval.
I shot it a puzzled glance in return.
This newly born qilin had obliterated the orcs without a second thought.
The ruthlessness in how the qilin achieved this chilled me...
Yet what baffled me most was the resemblance between the qilin's peculiar energy and my own divine energy.
