Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2006: Strange attraction
Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
I shook my head, signaling my complete ignorance, though a grave expression lingered on my features too.
After all, the Mark of God wouldn't simply respond to every little thing.
For the Mark of God to stir like this, some form of divine energy had to be nearby.
Yet this also indicated that the divine energy present wasn't feeble in the slightest. If it were weak, it never would have provoked such a response from the Mark of God.
I couldn't stop myself from pondering exactly what lay hidden within this cavern...
Still, this hardly seemed the moment for idle speculation.
The horde of monsters clustered before the cave entrance appeared to be sensing the power emanating from its depths. Their restless movements suggested they were scheming some kind of action.
Even without knowing the cave's secrets, the Mark of God's reaction made it clear we couldn't abandon this lightly.
That's why I glanced over at Klein, as if anticipating his input.
A deeply troubled expression twisted his features right then.
After all, he fully grasped what this Mark of God response implied.
The fact that the Mark of God was reacting to the energy pulsing from the cave's interior meant we absolutely couldn't abandon whatever was inside to these beasts.
Even if the cave's contents remained a mystery, letting it fall into their hands posed too great a risk.
So Klein looked utterly lost for words in that instant.
His face contorted further and further until it abruptly eased.
It was clear he'd weighed his options and arrived at a conclusion.
The instant he decided, his gaze shifted to me, waiting for my words.
I felt a jolt of surprise that he'd settled on this choice, but deep down, it didn't shock me. In truth, I was the ideal one to call the shots here.
This might have been straightforward if Klein could handle it normally, but with this bizarre energy surfacing, everything veered into uncharted waters.
In such irregular circumstances, Klein truly floundered for a path forward.
I held off on issuing commands, instead scrutinizing the monsters first.
They were clearly affected by this energy, yet they weren't making a move just yet.
Upon closer inspection, they even appeared suspicious of one another. The various monster breeds all seemed to dread the others' potential actions.
However, it was obvious they kept glancing back at the cave, drawn irresistibly to whatever source unleashed this power. They desperately yearned to enter and claim it.
This attraction might well explain why they'd assembled at this cavern from the start.
With this fragile equilibrium among the monsters holding, I gained a brief window to deliberate our next step.
Unfortunately, that respite proved short-lived.
Whatever entity inside the cave was emitting this energy seemed to detect a shift, prompting it to surge forth even stronger waves. The manner of this outburst hinted at an impending awakening or similar event.
As the energy intensified, the monsters grew increasingly frenzied. It looked like they'd soon disregard their rivals and rush inside to battle over the prize within.
Should that unfold, we'd face utter unpredictability.
To seize the upper hand, we needed to strike first.
Thus, I leaped onto Joan's back and pressed my palm to her head, igniting the Mark of God embedded there.
Once activated, I called out to the group, "We have to charge in and use momentum to find whatever it is that’s there."
Klein and the royal guards looked far from thrilled with this strategy, but they had no grounds to object. They'd yielded command to me, so they could only obey my directives.
I'd rather not resort to this, as it was a fresh technique I'd devised alongside Joan, but circumstances left no alternative.
That's why, as we surged ahead, she abruptly unleashed her flames, enveloping her form like protective armor.
Yet these flames weren't merely forming a shield.
As we barreled toward the cave, the monsters were utterly unprepared for our assault.
They stood no chance as we barreled through, shoving them aside with force.
But our momentum didn't merely displace them. The instant the flames touched their hides, the fire raced across their bodies, threatening to consume them entirely.
No matter how desperately the monsters clawed at the blaze, they couldn't halt its spread. It was as though an unseen force guided the flames over their forms.
Joan was the one orchestrating this.
Though I lent a hand by channeling a touch of divine energy into it.
This was the innovative ability we'd crafted together.
