"Use every one of the 50 Sin Point rewards for the draw!!" Vritra declared, watching the wheel rotate at high speed as notifications started appearing one after another right in front of him.
{Congratulations, you have acquired 10kg rice!}
{Congratulations, you have acquired 1 strength attribute point!}
{Congratulations, you have acquired 100 apples!}
…
Exactly forty-two notifications flashed up before his eyes, and Vritra went through each of them with steady patience.
While he managed to snag a substantial haul of food supplies, certain rewards grabbed his interest more than others.
"Two attribute points—one in strength and one in spiritual! Ha, what a massive gain." Vritra grinned, convinced that spinning the small lottery proved far superior.
After all, with 2,000 sin points, he'd only afford a single attribute point otherwise.
"Perhaps my luck boost hasn't worn off yet…" he mused, soon turning his gaze to the status panel.
Earlier, he'd taken down numerous cockroaches, which had nudged his attributes upward slightly.
『
[Stats]
(Strength: 3.8)
(Agility: 3.8)
(Endurance: 2.7)
(Spiritual: 2.9)
』
{Sin Points: 4}
Slaying those mutants had boosted his stats by about 1 to 1.2 overall, though the spiritual one only rose by a mere 0.2.
'What's the real perk of this spiritual stat anyway? Just sharpening my senses?' he pondered, then shifted his attention back to the other prizes.
'With these supplies, we'll hold out for a while—no more fretting over food or water shortages. Wait, what's this one?' He zeroed in on a particular item in his inventory and withdrew it.
"A smoke bomb?" Vritra examined the device with a hint of astonishment, before stowing it once more.
No doubt, it'd prove useful down the line.
'Divine, while my power can surge fast through wheel draws and mutant kills to gain attributes, won't my wives lag way behind? At this pace, they couldn't even defend themselves properly.' Vritra worried, realizing that in true peril, he might struggle to shield even himself.
"You're right—if they stick to the usual path, they'll fall even further behind folks who've been evolving for more than six months already." Divine concurred, then continued:
"To fix that, form a party with your entire family. That lets them earn benefits just by assisting, even without direct kills. And rest easy—it won't slow your own progress."
'Fine, I'll set that up once we descend.' Relief washed over him at last.
"Foxie, we're finished up here. Let's move out." Vritra announced, glancing over at the waiting Maeve, who had been standing by calmly.
"Master, should we head down now or keep going?" she inquired, keen to boost her own power.
"…We'll scout around first, then make our way downstairs." He answered, figuring they ought to gauge the threats ahead.
Moments later, two shadowy forms slipped from the apartment, blending seamlessly into the enveloping gloom.
Across from them stood two additional apartments, so Vritra chose to investigate those.
The entrance to the first one swung open without resistance, revealing mangled human remains within.
Barely scraps remained after zombies had devoured them.
He prodded a fragment of flesh, yet no sin points came his way—it appeared too damaged.
Next, they approached the final apartment on the level, discovering its door securely fastened.
'Survivors in there?' Vritra concentrated and picked up subtle breaths echoing from within.
The occupants sounded terrified, so Vritra simply departed, heading for the staircase.
They ascended and glanced down the hallway, but darkness shrouded everything too thickly to discern details.
'This isn't ordinary shadow—something hazardous lurks on this level.' Vritra suspected a formidable mutant might dwell here.

"Push forward; this floor's clear of zombies." Two squads, totaling eight men altogether, pressed onward, inspecting every story.
Before long, they reached the twelfth floor without spotting any threats.
They'd skirted just one formidable zombie on the eleventh, luckily since it couldn't hear.
"Search the units on this level." The leader of the pairs commanded—it was the limping fellow.
Ron's subordinate, whose power suited scouting and concealment ideally.
An invisible bubble enveloped the octet, rendering them undetectable and masking their aura completely.
"Got it, lad." They dispersed into smaller units swiftly.
The limper went by Lad, and all obeyed him as Ron's trusted enforcer, known for his brutality.
"Both these apartments stand vacant." Two teams came back reporting.
"Lad, we discovered Lukas and his crew's four bodies in that unit—they got taken out by the deaf zombie, looks like." Another scout informed.
"Seems someone's already ransacked the area; we'll have to deal with that zombie before anything else. Head ba—" Lad eyed the bloody tracks leading in and out of every door and started to pivot.
"Lad, that door's still bolted—could be folks holed up in there." A team member cut in with enthusiasm.
"Huh, did they show up after Lukas's group got slaughtered, or did they set it up?" Lad figured Lukas wouldn't rouse the deaf one.
An ambush seemed likely.
"Let's investigate." He directed, as the eight advanced on the sealed entrance.
KNOCK KNOCK
"Anyone in there? We're military personnel, relocating survivors to a secure camp. We've got provisions too—if you're interested in joining, open up; otherwise, we're moving on."
Lad boomed in a deep tone.
Ideally, they'd eliminate them quietly if they could.
"N-No thanks, I've already been UGHH bitten by a zombie—no chance for me now. Just go." A voice laced with agony replied from within, catching the group off guard.
Yet Lad saw through deceptions of all kinds.
"Open up so we can check; amputation might fix it. We're testing a vaccine too.
Sounds wild, but I can extract the virus with my power—it's rescued plenty. Where's the bite?" Lad pressed, sensing victory near.
"Oh, extract it? It's on my dick—think you can suck the virus out?" The insider quipped, barely stifling chuckles.
"…"
Rage flushed Lad's features red; that fool was mocking him outright.
Within the dwelling, Shitless, Onest, and their companions felt tension mounting. Freshly awakened, their abilities remained feeble.
How long had they been there? Scarcely an hour.
They held a clear edge in familiarity, but the enemy outnumbered—no, sides balanced evenly.
Victory odds tilted heavily their way.
Lad realized his ploy had failed on the trickster inside.
"You scum, unlock this before I smash through and end you! Surrender now, and you might live!" he bellowed.
Silence met his threat; with a curse, he knew combat loomed unavoidable.
"Smash the door and take out everyone inside—spare the women, naturally." Lad instructed, arms crossed in smug anticipation.
He itched to confront the voice's owner. But after long seconds, no one acted on his command, prompting him to whirl around in shock.
