My Celestial Ascension Chapter 871: A Huge Uproar In The Lawless City

Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
In the Lawless City's southern district, controlled by the Dark Society Syndicate, news spread that Cassius and his men were slain in Lady Nyx's territory. Morgana Duskborne, the syndicate's leader, was shocked by this event and began preparing her organization for potential chaos, while also seeking information on Nyx's daughter. Meanwhile, Nyx retired from her leadership role and joined Yuan and his wives on their journey back to the Elven Kingdom, where they were greeted by Miss Zara and Little Zoe.

"Lady Nyx, given that you have stepped down as the head of the Green Viper Organization, won’t this negatively impact the group's standing and its day-to-day business?" Valeria inquired with courtesy, a light smile gracing her lips.

"Not at all. I have been preparing for this transition for quite some time. Every detail has been calculated," Nyx replied, returning a confident grin, her demeanor remaining poised and certain.

Despite her assurance, Yuan and the others harbored doubts. After all, the Green Viper Organization stood as one of the four dominant criminal powers within the Lawless City.

Overseeing such a colossal entity was no simple feat. Should the successor prove incompetent, the entire structure risked total collapse.

Furthermore, the Red Dragon Syndicate would undoubtedly seek any opening to dismantle the Green Viper Organization—particularly since their own leader, Cassius, had been slain by none other than Emma, the daughter of Nyx.

Noticing the hesitation written on the faces of Yuan and his companions, Nyx offered a comforting smile before addressing them again.

"There is no cause for concern regarding my organization. I have installed a highly gifted and efficient individual as the new leader. From this point forward, she will manage everything."

"I see... that is exactly what I would expect from someone of your caliber, Lady Nyx," Vanessa remarked, nodding with a smile. "On another note, what are your thoughts on wiping out the Red Dragon Syndicate entirely? Wouldn't your organization benefit greatly from their destruction?"

"I don't believe so," Nyx replied after a short pause. "Annihilating the Red Dragon Syndicate would disrupt the local power balance and plunge the city into turmoil. Moreover, I doubt the remaining two organizations would permit such a shift."

"Ultimately, no one is reckless enough to trigger a war that merely allows a third party to seize the spoils," she explained, a sharp glint flickering in her eyes.

Later on, Mireya escorted Nyx to her guest quarters, situated immediately adjacent to Miss Zara’s chambers.

Having never visited the Elven Palace before, Nyx found herself captivated by the unique elven design and the sheer grandeur of the estate.

After inspecting the room Mireya had readied, she took a brief stroll through the palace grounds and was thoroughly impressed. The entire residence was a work of art; every corner held a beauty that defied description.

Meanwhile, back in the Lawless City, a rumor was spreading like wildfire, leaving many who heard it utterly stunned.

It rapidly became the primary topic of conversation throughout the Lawless City. Every organization, regardless of size, was debating the news, as many found the report hard to swallow.

"How can this be? It makes no sense for the leader of the Green Viper Organization to quit right after such a massive event!"

"Could it be that she feared the Red Dragon Organization? Perhaps she was terrified of Lord Commander Ragnar?"

"It’s possible. Though I find it hard to believe, considering Ragnar’s strength is significantly lower than that of Lord Cassius."

"She wouldn't simply flee without a reason. There has to be a hidden motive behind this move."

The city was filled with the sounds of hushed whispers—it seemed as though everyone was preoccupied with the news.

Many speculated about the true reason for Nyx’s abrupt exit from the Lawless City. Was it perhaps linked to her long-lost daughter, with whom she had only just been reunited?

A flood of theories, both optimistic and cynical, surged through the streets. Some went as far as to claim that Nyx had run away out of cowardice, fearing retribution from the Red Dragon Syndicate.

At the same time, Darius, the head of the Sky Eagle Syndicate, was struck with total disbelief upon learning of Nyx’s departure from the Green Viper Organization.

He found it inconceivable that a woman like Nyx would abandon such a prestigious station without warning. She had, after all, dedicated years to forging that organization from nothing.

She had survived countless conflicts against rivals and spilled the blood of thousands to establish the Green Viper Organization as one of the premier powers on the Beast Continent.

"Curse it!" Darius roared, slamming his palm onto the desk and leaving a deep crater in the wood. "I command the most extensive intelligence network on the continent... yet I have no idea where Nyx has vanished. This is an embarrassment!"

"I'll be mocked for this failure... what a disaster." He let out a heavy sigh, his heart torn between irritation and a burning desire to know why Nyx had chosen to quit so suddenly.

Shortly after, he dispatched several of his most reliable and elite agents to the eastern district to dig up any clues regarding the disappearance of the Green Viper leader.

Already, a multitude of people were inquiring about Nyx’s location, with many prepared to pay hundreds of thousands of gold coins for even a hint of her whereabouts.

Aside from Cassius, who had been vocal in his pursuit of her, Nyx had many other secret admirers. However, because of Cassius's presence, none had dared to make a move.

With Cassius now dead and no longer an obstacle, these suitors began to emerge once more. In the past, Cassius had ruthlessly executed anyone brave enough to approach Nyx, and many had perished by his blade.

Now that he was gone, suitors swarmed the Sky Eagle Syndicate, desperate to find out where Nyx had gone.

Regrettably, even Darius was in the dark; it was as if Nyx had vanished into thin air, leaving no trail behind.

Observing the crowd of hopeful men outside his doors, Darius gave a cynical chuckle, shut his window, and sat back down.

"A pack of idiots thinking they have a shot at Nyx... how delusional. Hmph!" He snorted with disdain and returned to his paperwork.

Elsewhere, at the Red Dragon Syndicate, Ragnar’s fury intensified when he heard that Nyx had passed her leadership to a successor and fled the Lawless City.

"Where did that woman go?! After everything she did to us, she just slinks away like a coward?!" He hurled his wine glass to the floor in a fit of rage, his eyes bloodshot.

"What a pathetic display! I never imagined the leader of the Green Viper Organization would be such a weakling—running off to save her own skin!" he hissed through gritted teeth.

With a murderous look, he grabbed a fresh glass and growled, "Flee all you want, but I will track you down and slaughter you all eventually."

"I will make sure I personally execute both of you to avenge that idiot! Only then can he truly rest..." With those words, he drained the wine and shattered the glass once more.

Morgana Duskborne was in the process of sketching a massive magic circle within her private sanctum, the very room where she refined her arcane formulas.

The walls and supports of this chamber were constructed from specialized materials designed to endure the violent energy discharges that occurred when her experiments failed.

Seated at the center of the room, Morgana watched as a sprawling magic circle took shape above her; complex geometries expanded as the array grew.

Thick waves of Mana radiated from her body. Her eyes and nails began to darken, and obsidian veins marked with cryptic runes started to spread across her skin.

These symbols pulsed with a violent crimson light, causing the atmosphere around the circle to vibrate. Despite the lack of windows, a localized gale began to swirl within the stone room.

"Only a few more moments and this circle will be complete... my ultimate masterpiece," Morgana whispered, her jaw clenched as she etched delicate details into the shimmering glyphs.

As she funneled more Mana into the array, it began to throb with power. Arcs of black lightning crackled through the air, striking the reinforced walls and floor.

'Truly, my finest work... it isn't even finished, yet the power it displays is staggering. This is magnificent! Just a little longer!' she thought, smiling as she focused every ounce of her will on the finalization of the magic circle.

She continued the flow of Mana, her concentration absolute as more sophisticated patterns integrated into the glowing array above her.

Moments later, Morgana sensed that her Mana reserves were nearly exhausted, reaching a precarious level.

With a practiced motion, she pulled a Mana Recovery Potion from her storage pouch and swallowed the contents in a single gulp.

'I need this to work, otherwise, the circle will destabilize, and all my work will be for nothing. Not just the effort—the materials as well!' she thought, her expression tense as she swallowed hard and continued to feed the circle.

After using two more Mana Recovery Potions and nearly thirty minutes of intense focus, the magic circle was finally perfected.

The array cast a lethal, heavy pressure that made the very air tremble. Every person within the headquarters could sense the massive surge of energy leaking from Morgana’s sanctum.

"What is this incredible energy? Has the Mistress made another breakthrough?"

"The density of this power... it feels even more potent than legendary-tier magic! Simply amazing!"

"It appears our Mistress has perfected a new spell! And the power is immense!"

"I must see the glory of this new magic for myself!"

"I agree!"

The members of the Dark Society Syndicate were filled with chatter as soon as they felt the heavy energy coming from the underground training area.

Most felt a sense of pride and excitement for Morgana, their leader—a genius and a master of spell creation.

Down in the training grounds, Morgana was meticulously transferring the new magic circle onto a high-grade scroll used by mages to archive spells.

Just as she finished the final stroke, she heard the sound of footsteps and felt a familiar presence. Then, she heard Clara’s voice.

"Congratulations, Mistress! You have once again achieved the impossible."

"I appreciate it, my dear Clara," Morgana said, smiling as she stood up gracefully without turning around. "Tell me, did anything happen while I was busy?"

"Indeed, Mistress. An event has occurred—and it is quite significant."

"Oh?" Morgana arched her eyebrows, finally turning to face Clara. "Go on then. You have my undivided attention."

"Mistress, Lady Nyx and her daughter have vanished from the Lawless City without warning," Clara reported immediately. "Prior to her departure, Lady Nyx also gave up her role as the leader of the Green Viper Organization."

"She did what?!" Morgana shouted, her eyes wide with shock as she stared at Clara in total disbelief.
