My Celestial Ascension Chapter 870 870: The Southern District
Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
Deep within the Lawless City's southern district, the narrow passages were shrouded in total darkness, lacking even the simplest magic lamps to light the way. A thick, repulsive stench of rot hung heavily in the stagnant air.
The shadows of these streets were populated by beggars and mysterious figures draped in obsidian robes, gliding silently through the gloom. A heavy silence dominated the area.
However, the heart of the district told a different story—it was a vibrant explosion of light and activity. A colossal marketplace stood there, teeming with life as countless people traded a vast array of goods.
While many items catered to magic and sorcery, the stalls also openly displayed cursed artifacts and lethal toxins alongside more common materials.
This was the Black Gala, the premier black market of the entire Beast Continent. It was a place where anything imaginable could be acquired; if it existed within this world, it was surely for sale here.
Provided one possessed the gold, nearly any desire could be fulfilled. Yet, such transactions were fraught with peril. In this lawless zone, safety was a luxury, and many cutthroats specialized in hunting the wealthy who wandered too deep.
The district also boasted the continent’s most prominent illegal auction house. Every week, rare treasures gathered from the far corners of the world were paraded before the highest bidders.
Authority in this sector belonged entirely to the Dark Society Syndicate, governed by the formidable Morgana Duskborne, the organization's reigning leader.
From the darkness, she maintained a watchful eye over her domain. Virtually every soul in the district, including the merchants, had been bought by her and operated under her direct command.
Throughout the Lawless City, the Dark Society Syndicate was spoken of with dread due to their terrifying mastery over darkness. They were infamous for their ability to torture victims through the dark arts.
Furthermore, they were unparalleled masters of curses, capable of weaving spells that brought ruin and misery to any who dared provoke them.
This reputation ensured absolute obedience to the Dark Society Syndicate within the district. No one was foolish enough to invite their wrath.
To cross the Dark Society Syndicate meant a swift and certain death.
Inside a dimly lit chamber, a woman reclined on a massive, opulent sofa that could easily have accommodated several people.
The room was filled with the fragrant, floral aroma of burning incense. Enveloped in this soothing atmosphere, she read a book in quiet serenity.
Suddenly, she snapped the book shut and marked her page. Her brow creased as she detected approaching footsteps—fast and frantic—heading toward her door.
"Madam, may I come inside?" a soft, melodic female voice inquired from the hallway.
"You may enter," Morgana answered, her gaze remaining fixed on the book in her lap.
A woman clad in a black robe stepped inside; a mask concealed her features, though her silhouette remained visible through the fabric.
"Has something of interest occurred today? Perhaps a new priceless treasure?" Morgana asked, finally looking up at her subordinate.
"No, Madam. It is nothing of that nature," the woman replied, shaking her head and capturing Morgana’s full focus.
"Oh? What is it then? You seem as though something significant has transpired."
"Madam, I have received word that Lord Cassius has been killed—along with thirty of his subordinates—within Lady Nyx’s territory today."
The woman quickly detailed the events from the eastern district: Cassius and his entire escort had been wiped out.
Morgana’s eyes widened in genuine shock; the book slipped from her fingers and thudded onto the floor.
"This is impossible… Cassius could not be killed so easily, not with so many men protecting him!" she cried out, her voice full of disbelief.
Morgana was well aware that Cassius was not a man easily slain. His physical constitution was remarkably powerful.
Ordinary blades could not harm him, and even high-tier magical treasures struggled to break his skin; he was a rare master who excelled as both a warrior and a mage.
He had refined both his magic and aura to such a level that he was considered nearly invincible—a man in a class of his own.
Yet now, that very man had fallen at the hands of a woman. While it was a stain on the Red Dragon Syndicate's honor, the news piqued Morgana’s curiosity—she was desperate to know how Nyx’s daughter had achieved such a feat.
'The Lawless City is about to descend into chaos… I must ensure my syndicate is ready for the fallout,' Morgana mused, her expression turning cold as she realized the gravity of the situation.
After a moment of silence, she turned to the woman with a stern look.
"Clara, instruct all our members to be on high alert. The city is going to become unstable—begin preparations immediately," she commanded.
She added, "Furthermore, gather all possible intelligence on Nyx’s daughter. Be extremely cautious; she is clearly very dangerous."
"I understand, Madam." Clara gave a somber nod and exited the room, leaving Morgana to her thoughts.
Once she was alone, Morgana performed a graceful snap of her fingers, causing parchment and a pen to manifest on the table before her.
"I need to send a message to Nyx. I am interested in meeting her daughter." A faint smirk touched her lips as she gripped the pen. "I want to see the person who single-handedly slaughtered Cassius and thirty of his soldiers."
"And that small group of hers… it is quite peculiar, appearing on our continent as if from thin air." She whispered to herself, her face clouded with intrigue.
A few moments later, she finished the letter and summoned a servant to deliver it to the Green Viper Organization.
"I look forward to meeting them and discovering what makes them so unique… It promises to be very entertaining… heh!" Morgana laughed softly before closing her eyes.
Simultaneously, every mage serving Morgana received a voice transmission from Clara explaining the new orders.
In an instant, a massive, invisible barrier began to take shape around the southern district, encasing it within a shimmering dome.
This barrier possessed a unique trait—it was completely undetectable to anyone who was not a member of the Dark Society Syndicate.
While a protective shield already existed, this secondary layer was designed to boost surveillance, allowing every single heartbeat in the district to be monitored from the central base.
With this field active, the Dark Society Syndicate had eyes in every corner. Nothing could escape Morgana’s notice now, as the barrier was a manifestation of her own Dark Magic.

As the sun reached its zenith, Yuan and his wives prepared for their return journey to the Elven Kingdom. Mireya was particularly thrilled, eager to reunite with Miss Zara and the rest of their companions.
Nyx was busy finalizing the organization's affairs. She had resolved to step down as the leader, transferring her authority to a highly capable successor.
Once the transition was complete, she returned to Emma’s side with a bright smile and pulled her into a warm embrace.
"At last, the weight I’ve carried for all these years is gone. Being free from such heavy responsibility feels wonderful," Nyx whispered happily before planting affectionate kisses on Emma’s cheeks.
"Does that mean you’re coming with us right now?" Emma asked, her eyes shining with excitement.
Nyx nodded enthusiastically, releasing Emma to look toward Yuan and the others.
"I hope none of you mind if I join your journey?" she inquired.
"Not at all, Nyx. We are family now, after all," Anna Grace answered with a kind smile.
"You are right. We are family. And I have my foolish daughter to thank for that," Nyx teased, giving Emma’s cheek a playful pinch.
Shortly after, Nyx stowed her personal effects within her Magic Pouch and stood ready to depart for the Elven Kingdom with Yuan’s party.
"Shall we set off? My preparations are complete," Nyx said to Yuan, standing proudly beside her daughter.
"We are ready. Emma will provide you a seat on her flying sword," Yuan agreed with a nod.
Minutes later, they took to the skies on their flying swords. As Emma steered them upward, Nyx looked down at the sprawling city with a look of pure wonder.
She had never viewed the world from such a height, and the sheer beauty of the landscape left her breathless.
From this altitude, the city was a mesmerizing sight, and the inhabitants below appeared as tiny as ants. She looked down at the lands she had governed for half her life and smiled gently.
'I never realized my domain was so beautiful from above… this is a truly incredible experience,' Nyx thought happily.
Before long, Yuan and the group reached the Elven Kingdom and began their descent toward the palace grounds.
Miss Zara, Little Zoe, and Selvariel emerged from the palace the moment they felt Yuan’s presence approaching.
"Big Brother Yuan! I missed you so much!" Little Zoe cried out, racing toward him with a beaming face.
Watching this, Lily rolled her eyes and grumbled, "Hmph! It seems some people have decided I don't even exist anymore."
Hearing the comment, Little Zoe froze. She turned to Lily with wide, innocent eyes, trying to look as adorable as possible as she slowly walked toward her.
'O-Oh no! Big Sister Lily looks really mad! What do I do?!' Little Zoe’s heart raced as she nervously approached Lily.
"Big Sister Lily! I missed you so much!" she yelled, throwing her arms around Lily in a tight hug.
Softening at the gesture, Lily hugged the young girl back, her irritation evaporating instantly. A warm smile returned to her face.
"I missed you too, Little Zoe!" Lily exclaimed, planting a kiss on the girl's cheek that left a faint red mark.
Meanwhile, Miss Zara noticed the woman standing next to Emma. The resemblance was striking—she looked like a more mature, refined version of Emma.
Miss Zara walked up to Nyx with a friendly smile. "Are you Emma’s mother? I am Zara; it is a pleasure to finally meet you."
"The pleasure is mine, Lady Zara," Nyx replied with a polite nod and a gentle smile, accepting Zara’s hand.
With the introductions finished, Mireya guided the group into the palace’s living quarters. Once everyone was comfortably seated on the sofas, she signaled the maids to serve tea for the guests.
