MIGHT AS WELL BE OP Chapter 940: Cosmic Severance
Previously on MIGHT AS WELL BE OP...
The whole isolated realm had descended into sheer insanity and complete destruction. The atmosphere grew suffocating, heavy with crushing force and bitter vapors. The very structure of space had softened somewhat, twisting into irregular folds that wouldn't quite settle back.
Beneath their feet, the ground lay transformed into a boiling expanse of liquid stone, fissures radiating searing white light under flowing streams of blaze. Clouds of ash and venomous gases saturated the entire dimension, clouding all views and burying the landscape in a smothering mist.
The isolated realm's once-swift healing powers had ground to a near halt under the sheer dominance of Anthony's onslaught. The environment failed to rebound as it normally would. Existence wavered, creaked, and protested, like it dreaded mending too soon only to get ripped open once more.
Anthony lingered high above the devastation, drifting calmly amid the destruction he'd unleashed. His stance stayed loose, his aura composed, somewhat aloof. His face held a blank composure, impossible to decipher, as his azure eyes locked onto one spot, as if anticipating some unavoidable event.
In the line of his stare, the fabric of space fluttered oddly, unfolding like a flower's opening bloom. Existence's weave split apart, and out of that twist emerged Lucian, his steps faltering, off-balance.
Agony ripped across Lucian's entire frame. His body appeared mangled and fractured, severe gashes scarring his flesh while crimson liquid flowed from numerous cuts. Still, amid the ruin, his gaze blazed with unyielding resolve and rebellion. Even after retreating into a multi-layered pocket dimension, Anthony's strike had pierced through to him.
Such an outcome came as no shock. Klaus's personal void had already crumbled, so Lucian's inferior spatial hideout stood no chance.
Lucian's survival hinged solely on the fact that he'd relentlessly channeled vast quantities of mana to sustain his nested dimension right through Anthony's incantation. A single lapse would have wiped him from being. That's why he emerged wounded but alive. In truth, Anthony's assault had sliced through the void with ridiculous simplicity.
Lucian's natural healing kicked in at once. Tissue mended, gashes sealed, and shattered bones shifted back into position within moments. Yet the harm to his core being, the heart of his life force, proved too profound for simple recovery.
With a mere mental command, Lucian triggered his Event Rewriting power.
Existence complied.
In a flash, his wounded core mended as if the harm had never happened. He went further, altering his mana levels too, instantly refilling them to maximum. This trick was Lucian's strategy to match Anthony, by perpetually reshaping occurrences, ceaselessly refilling his energy and mimicking boundless supplies.
Body and power back at full strength, Lucian raised his eyes to glare at Anthony, still drifting like he commanded all creation. No more delays, Lucian unleashed a chain of powers he'd mimicked across endless fights.
Dimensional Lock
His words boomed across the fractured isolated realm. At once, the area near Anthony twisted savagely, crumpling shut and clamping down on him, striving to trap him still and render him helpless.
Anthony offered no resistance. He barely acknowledged it. He merely observed Lucian's move with cool disinterest.
Cosmic Severance
Once those terms escaped Lucian's mouth, all motion ceased. It felt like the stars themselves had paused. Then, a massive rift burst from Lucian's spot, slashing across the void as it hurtled at Anthony, intent on splitting him in two right there. Dimensional Lock ensured no way out.
Yet Anthony had no need to flee.
Flee? Ridiculous.
Dimensional Lock did impact him, it confined the space encircling his body, but as Cosmic Severance rushed in, Anthony just lifted a palm and brushed it away lightly, like dismissing a pesky fly. The strike bounced back right away, surging toward Lucian with heightened velocity, its force boosted by Anthony's touch.
Lucian refused to linger and observe. He understood perfectly that Cosmic Severance could slice almost everything. Without pause, he picked the most direct choice: instant shift. In a blink, he disappeared from sight, letting the returning rift carve into the already shaky isolated realm, worsening the chaos of existence.
The instant Lucian materialized again, his eyes bulged.
A figure loomed next to him.
Stunned surprise raced through his thoughts, questioning how Anthony closed the distance so fast. He tried to shift immediately, but too slow. Anthony's strike was underway.
A strike that shook the world landed square in Lucian's gut. The void warped at the collision site, and the blast wave surged out with fury. But Lucian didn't just absorb it. Caught in tight quarters with no evasion possible, he lashed back on reflex.
Reality Erase
It granted him the power to wipe out whatever his fingers grazed from all existence. Yet before his digits could brush Anthony's limb, Lucian sensed terror.
His hand severed from his arm.
Anthony had foreseen the countermove even before Lucian fully executed it.
Crimson burst forth as Lucian's detached limb dropped. His form hurtled rearward, smashing hard into the searing ground underneath. A huge crater yawned open at the crash, his body grinding to a stop amid bubbling magma and broken landscape.
But Lucian wouldn't stay fallen. He surged up without delay, pushing himself to act. Before he managed three strides, Anthony's tone rang out, steady, icy, final.
Cosmic Severance
Where Lucian had loosed just one blow moments ago, Anthony unleashed a storm. Scores of rifts swarmed the sky in a heartbeat, charging at Lucian from every angle, each hungry to carve into him.
Lucian's mouth quirked. He'd deployed the technique initially, but Anthony duplicated it on the spot, enhanced it, and now turned it back with supreme skill.
As the rifts converged like a lattice of death, Lucian blinked out once more, shifting in panic. But to his utter dread, the strikes awaited him.
Ready.
In the blink that followed, the volley crashed into him up close with deadly precision. His frame shredded savagely, skin and muscle ripping as scarlet misted the air in a bloody gale. The rifts tore through without mercy, sowing havoc everywhere.
Lucian wasted no second, firing off yet another mimicked power right away.
Event Rewind
Energy surged wildly, and existence twisted in reverse, lurching to the instant Lucian had fixed his lifeline just before, undoing the wounds and dragging him back to an earlier form before the lethal blows could finish him off.
