Chapter 599: Distribution of Benefits
Night had descended upon the main tent of the Wendao Academy encampment.
Chu Feng was seated, engaged in a conversation with the Dean via the Transmission Treasure Mirror resting before him.
"Little Feng, this seat was certain you wouldn't fail this old man this time around."
The Dean spoke with a grin from the other side of the mirror. Despite remaining at the Wendao Academy, he was fully informed of the events transpiring within the Nine Cauldrons Secret Realm.
"Sir, you praise me too highly. This disciple’s contribution was modest; the credit belongs to the many disciples, with Great Qian leading the way."
Chu Feng was never the type to hoard all the glory for himself.
Throughout this Ten Holy Lands Grand Competition, his primary function had been to maintain the army's morale and intimidate the various rivals.
The Dean chuckled and remarked: "You are as modest as always, kid. Very well, let us discuss the core matter. Tomorrow is the scheduled time to partition the rewards of this tournament. As the champion, our Wendao Academy holds the right to exclusively occupy the resources of an entire continent. Which one do you intend to visit? Or do you perhaps plan to remain at the Wendao Academy and take over as Dean?"
Without a moment’s pause, Chu Feng answered: "In response to Sir, this disciple has always sought out challenges. I wish to travel to another continent and see it for myself."
"Granted."
The Dean continued: "Since your heart is set, you shall select a world that appeals to you tomorrow. Because Wendao Academy secured first place, we have the right of first refusal. Elder Jin will provide you with the pertinent details regarding those four worlds shortly."
"I thank you for your guidance, Sir."
Chu Feng was well-acquainted with the protocols for dividing spoils in the Ten Holy Lands Grand Competition. Aside from the victor, the remaining powers were forced to develop worlds through joint cooperation.
The second and third place sects would share a single world; the fourth, fifth, and sixth would be assigned to another; and the final four Holy Lands would be left with the last world, which had already been picked over.
The more factions involved, the thinner the resources were spread. While no world was ever fully surveyed—making a solo venture potentially risky—the benefits of exclusive access generally far outweighed the drawbacks.
A short while later, an elderly voice echoed from outside the tent.
"Subordinate Jin Feng arrives to pay respects to Saint Qiankun."
Upon hearing this, Chu Feng stood immediately and walked out to greet him, saying graciously: "Elder Jin, please come in."
"I wouldn't dare, I wouldn't dare."
Elder Jin replied, feeling incredibly honored. He had not expected that Chief Chu, despite his lofty status, would still treat an elder like himself with such genuine politeness.
Chu Feng escorted him into the main tent. He did not immediately press for information about the four worlds.
Instead, he took the initiative to pour a cup of tea for his guest before making a welcoming gesture.
"Elder Jin, please."
"This subordinate does not deserve such honor."
Elder Jin rose quickly, his expression one of fear and trepidation.
Seeing this, Chu Feng smiled and said: "We are members of the same Sect, and we are currently alone. Elder Jin does not need to be so formal."
Hearing those words, Elder Jin finally sat down with great care: "My thanks to you, Chief Chu."
As they sipped tea and chatted, Elder Jin eventually placed a jade slip upon the table.
"Chief Chu, this jade slip contains the records of the four worlds being divided by the Ten Holy Lands this time. Please accept it."
"Thank you."
Chu Feng accepted the gift without further ceremony and tucked the jade slip away.
After a period of polite conversation, Chu Feng personally walked Elder Jin out of the tent.
Returning to his seat, he retrieved the jade slip and submerged his spiritual sense into it. The data regarding the four continents flooded his mind, and Chu Feng swiftly reached a conclusion.
Early the following morning.
Chu Feng made his way to the center of the battlefield. A small palace had been erected there, visible from a distance.
As he touched down, two Saints descended from the heavens. He immediately clasped his hands and greeted them: "Chu Feng greets the two fellow Daoists."
"Fellow Daoist Qiankun, you are far too polite."
The two Saints answered in unison.
Following their exchange of pleasantries, the three entered the palace together. Inside, Chu Feng found Saint Slashing God already waiting.
Observing their arrival, Saint Slashing God stood up and offered a bow: "The three fellow Daoists have arrived quite early. This old man got here a step before you and brought out this spirit treasure to enjoy some tea. Please, take a seat."
Chu Feng smiled, saying: "Our thanks to you, Fellow Daoist Slashing God."
The others echoed the sentiment: "Thank you, Fellow Daoist Slashing God."
Once the three were seated, the sages from the other Holy Lands began to arrive. When every sage was present, all eyes turned toward Chu Feng.
Feeling the weight of their collective gaze, Chu Feng cupped his fists and said: "Seniors, this junior is a newcomer to the Ten Holy Lands Grand Competition. I shall leave the hosting of today’s proceedings to my seniors."
At these words, the various Saints showed looks of approval, and their opinions of Chu Feng improved significantly.
It was difficult to dislike a young Saint with such a brilliant future who still maintained such humility.
Saint Slashing God took charge: "In that case, this old man shall break protocol just this once to oversee the concluding matters of this Ten Holy Lands Grand Competition."
"We trouble you then, Fellow Daoist Slashing God," the gathered sages replied one after another.
Saint Slashing God continued: "I presume everyone is aware of why we have gathered. Let us proceed according to the established traditions."
With a wave of his hand, a curtain of light manifested in the air, displaying four distinct points of light.
"These four continents were found by a True God from our Xuantian Continent during his travels. However, the True God only scanned them with his divine sense and did not perform a detailed exploration. I assume you are all already familiar with the data on these four continents?"
The group nodded slightly. The information had been known to them for some time; today was merely a formality.
Saint Slashing God turned his eyes to Chu Feng: "Fellow Daoist Qiankun, I wonder which continent your Wendao Academy intends to select?"
Chu Feng stood up and said with a faint smile: "My Wendao Academy chooses the Hongyuan Continent."
The room fell into a brief, stunned silence at his choice.
Based on reliable reports, the Hongyuan Continent was a world that had only recently been formed.
Such continents were often home to powerful innate spirits whose strength rivaled that of God Kings or even God Emperors.
Any Holy Land attempting to claim such a world would face a grueling struggle, and there was a real risk that even Saints might perish there.
However, Wendao Academy choosing such a dangerous path was beneficial for the other sects.
Saint Slashing God was momentarily taken aback before asking: "Has Fellow Daoist truly weighed this decision carefully?"
Chu Feng smiled and confirmed: "The decision is final."
"Very well."
Saint Slashing God smiled and said: "Then this old man offers his congratulations to Wendao Academy for securing exclusive rights to a continent."
The other Saints joined in the congratulations: "Congratulations to Wendao Academy."
Chu Feng returned the gesture with a smile: "I also thank everyone for their concessions."
The remaining nine Holy Lands soon finalized the distribution of the three other continents.
With the division of benefits complete, the ten Saints returned to their respective camps. They led their disciples out of the Nine Cauldrons Secret Realm, bringing the Ten Holy Lands Grand Competition to its conclusion...
