Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2740: 1504: Repelled and Renewal_2

Previously on Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong...
Intense magical explosions lit up Observation City as Leo Ray repelled relentless assaults from the "Corrosion" and Parasite forces on his section of the Barrier Wall, bolstered by Divine Stone Weapons and Stone Spirits. While his defense held firm through the day, the other walls and Underground Fortress strained under endless waves of tendrils and despair-inducing attacks, dimming the protective barrier and exhausting Tier 4 and Tier 3 soldiers alike. Moli and the strongmen, depleted despite recovery aids, voiced growing fatigue amid the unyielding siege, with Leo unable to bolster every front as cracks began to form. As the enemies' energy shields weakened and their offensive slowed, the horde finally retreated into the shadows, leaving the defenders to collapse in weary relief.

The regular city guards were sprawled across the floor everywhere, their breastplates heaving up and down, appearing like they'd just escaped a disaster by the skin of their teeth.

Although our forces had managed to protect the city this time, no one had the strength remaining to celebrate; instead, there was just the sense of relief from making it through and the concern over what the upcoming assault might bring.

All present knew full well that merely half the three-day period had elapsed, and the foes wouldn't simply back down.

“Lord Brave, the ‘Corrosion’ forces at the fortress have pulled back too; we've managed to push them away at last!”

Old Book, flanked by a handful of officers, rushed up quickly, offering thanks to Leo Ray: “It's all because of Lord Brave's Divine Stone Weapons that we could keep this position secure!”

“Old City Lord, you're being overly polite.”

At these words, Leo Ray offered only a light smile.

As he'd reflected several days prior, thanks to his Talent's support, despite securing plenty of Divine Stone Weapons that boosted their effectiveness against “Corrosion” in this spot, the defense today hadn't been any less grueling.

Following the end of the second day's assault, the opponents had stayed silent for all that time probably while secretly assembling greater numbers, resulting in the overwhelming onslaught they faced now.

“This whole scenario must fall right into the expectations of that guiding voice. It's no surprise they called me despite realizing I'd strengthen the defenses here immensely; they've clearly schemed deeply on this.”

As these thoughts crossed his mind, Leo Ray guided the powerful allies alongside Old Book to take a break.

No one could predict exactly when the enemies might strike again, so grabbing every second to recuperate was essential for handling whatever came next more effectively.

Back in the temple's lounge area, Leo Ray splashed water on his face first, then headed directly to the strategy room to plan future steps with Old Book and the rest.

The upcoming clash has to be the decisive one. Keeping hold of this city will determine success or failure.

“Lord Brave, you've arrived!”

Spotting Leo Ray, Old Book at once came forward to greet him.

The fortress defense officers, headed by Curry plus the other four Divine Stone Generals, rose from their chairs, directing admiring looks toward Leo Ray.

These officers knew plainly that Lord Brave's presence and the Divine Stone Weapons acquired through him were why they'd endured up to this point.

The adversaries had ramped up their numbers hugely, turning this day's push far more intense than the starting assault, pushing things to a dire edge.

Yet, absent Lord Brave's aid, Observation City could have crumbled entirely days earlier.

“It's a real delight to meet everyone once more.”

Leo Ray gave a small nod, addressing the defense officers.

In the midst of his words, Leo Ray could plainly observe the officers' worn-out conditions, with some faces blackened by soot, fresh from the battlefront.

Though they appeared rather disheveled, their spirits remained elevated, which mattered far more than appearances.

Next, the discussion's core topic, without question, centered on “defense.”

When up against regular foes, perhaps another approach could emerge, like targeted kills or sabotaging the enemy's leadership hub.

However, “Corrosion” lacks any leader. All actions stem from the higher mind known as “Ruins Returner,” leaving such options out of reach.

This creates an impossible challenge for the locals here, since even a minor skirmish involving a single “Corrosion” means facing their ultimate force “Ruins Returner” head-on, a truly terrifying prospect.

Amid the heavy, tense air, they swiftly settled on the following defense plan, which meant continuing to jointly protect Observation City and the Underground Fortress, spreading the attackers' strength as widely as possible to ease the burden on their side.

Once the discussion wrapped up, Leo Ray went back to his quarters and drifted off to sleep, aware the enemies wouldn't allow full recovery, so another strike was probably imminent.

True enough, the sharp toll of a bell at midnight jolted Leo Ray awake, announcing the foes' comeback.

The moment Leo Ray exited the lounge, Old Book approached to intercept him.

“Lord Brave, fresh reports show the enemies have switched strategies, concentrating massive troops at the fortress for a brutal offensive!”

Old Book, worry etching his aged features, informed Leo Ray: “The four Divine Stone Generals have rushed to the fortress already!”

“Got it; looks like they're trying to break us down one section at a time.”

Leo Ray gave a slight nod, stating firmly: “I'll leave the city to the City Lord; I'm heading with reinforcements.”

“In that case, I leave it to you, Lord Brave!”

Old Book pressed a hand to his chest, saying sincerely: “This defense is the last one; handle it with utmost care, Lord Brave!”

“You too, City Lord.”

Leo Ray glanced at his assembled mighty followers, exchanged farewells, then deftly departed the temple, making straight for the Teleportation Array.

Soon after, the team reached the vicinity of the Teleportation Array.

“Lord Brave is here; make way at once!”

The defense officer overseeing the Teleportation Array ordered his troops to part the way for Leo Ray and company the instant he spotted them.

Beneath the troops' worshipful stares, right as Leo Ray approached the Teleportation Array, Moli next to him let out a sudden breath.

“What's wrong?”

Leo Ray sharply picked up on the Forest Elf's odd behavior and asked her directly.

“There was a strange energy fluctuation hanging in the atmosphere just now.”

Moli rubbed her head, pondered briefly, then shook it toward Leo Ray: “It's vanished now, perhaps I'm overly on edge.”

“Keep alert, and let me know right away if you sense anything.”

With urgency pressing, Leo Ray nodded to Moli before entering the Teleportation Array.

A known sense of weightlessness passed through, and the first thing hitting Leo Ray's thoughts was the thunderous boom of the Magic Cannon, trailed by the view of the fortress's drill field.

From prior visits here, Leo Ray felt right at home with the area.

Across the expansive drill field, tension gripped the scene, beyond the Human Clan troops bolstering the City Wall, where Dwarf Elf warriors stood vigilantly in all directions.

“Lord Brave, you're finally here!”

Curry hurried forward, pressing Leo Ray: “The foes' charge is incredibly fast; the City Walls on every side of the fortress teeter on collapse, and we're on the verge of breaking!”

“General Curry, you and the other Divine Stone Generals handle the southern and western City Walls; we'll cover the other two.”

As they moved toward the City Wall, Leo Ray nodded.

This reliable, mature Divine Stone General was no stranger to Leo Ray.

“However, Lord Brave, the remaining three Divine Stone Generals are stuck holding different City Walls and can't pull away!”

Urgency filled Curry's firm expression as he continued: “Things are desperate; we need to divide up to aid the various City Walls, or we can't hold out much longer!”

“General, my powerful allies work in perfect sync; scattering too much weakens our guard.”

Leo Ray sped up his steps, adding: “I'll handle two City Walls first, relieving the Divine Stone Generals stationed there, so they can shift elsewhere.”

“But…”

Curry obviously disagreed with Leo Ray's plan, yet he clenched his jaw and replied: “Alright, we'll follow Lord Brave's lead!”

At that, Curry bolted rapidly toward another City Wall.

“Human lad, he's got a valid concern; even hurrying to support multiple spots, we'd manage just fine.”

As she observed Curry vanishing into the distance, Moli cocked her head, utterly puzzled: “Why stick to defending just two sides?”

“Something feels wrong here.”

Leo Ray's expression grew grave, his forehead creasing deeply.
