Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2739: 1504: Repelled and Restarted

Explosive magical blasts roared without end from every corner of Observation City, illuminating the shadowy battlefield in vivid flashes and revealing the endless barrage of arrows streaking relentlessly through the chaos.
While Leo Ray had successfully pushed back the foes' assault, the conditions on the remaining city walls grew far more dire.
Sheltered beneath enormous energy barriers, hordes of “Corrosion” and Parasites managed to draw near to our Barrier Wall, their countless thin tentacles writhing ominously in the air as they desperately clawed toward it.
Our defending troops and powerhouses, bolstered by Divine Stone Weapons and Stone Spirits, kept fending off one assault after another.
Still, the adversaries showed no signs of letting up; exuding waves of terror and hopelessness, they poured forth endlessly from the subterranean depths, like a never-ending horror, striking both the Barrier Wall and our soldiers' spirits with physical and mental blows.
Moments ticked away relentlessly, and over the course of the entire day, the section of the wall under Leo's command stayed relatively calm, but the other three walls and the Underground Fortress seemed increasingly strained, with the Barrier Wall's glow noticeably fading.
In the midst of this, as the other walls started to falter, Leo kept shuttling Moli and Sheila, plus the other Stone Spirits, to rally spirits there, yet he couldn't be everywhere at once, leaving him with few choices.
“If things continue like this, I fear we can't last much longer.”
Leo observed faint fissures starting to form on the Barrier Wall overhead, his forehead creasing deeper.
Regardless of how steadfast his own defense was, it could only safeguard one out of the four walls.
If any of the remaining three walls crumbled and faced a frenzy from “Corrosion,” the Barrier Wall would break apart quickly, especially with the Underground Fortress in equal jeopardy.
Without this vital protection, our position would turn even more vulnerable, and should the Underground Fortress collapse, allowing the enemy to merge their assaults, the burden on us would skyrocket.
With these thoughts racing through his mind, a growing urgency gripped Leo as he scanned the nearby city guard troops.
Following a full day of holding the line, the elite Tier 4 fighters had depleted their strength and been pulled back, while Tier 3 soldiers had cycled through multiple shifts; their battle prowess and resilience against “Corrosion’s” mental assaults paled in comparison to the Tier 4s, without question.
Confronted by the relentless tide of “Corrosion” and Parasite forces crashing forward like ocean waves, numerous young fighters turned ashen, drenched in sweat, their grips on longbows and magic wands shaking violently, and some simply collapsed unconscious, only to be dragged off by rear-line soldiers and priests.
On top of that, even Moli and our powerhouses showed clear signs of exhaustion, their reserves nearly drained despite relying on advanced magic potions and the finest restorative methods.
“Space Path!”
After deploying another pair of spatial rifts to redirect our strikes once more, Moli brushed sweat from her pale brow, her earlier enthusiasm vanished, replaced by utter fatigue as her long brows sagged, and she muttered, “Human boy, this is only the first day—won't the next two be the same?”
“I doubt it; the enemies have suffered heavy casualties too, so they probably can't keep up this furious pace forever.”
Though doubt gnawed at him inside, Leo forced a grin and replied, “Maybe outside aid will show up any moment now.”
“I'm not stupid—you don't need to console me. The ‘Corrosion’ are sly beyond measure; if help was coming, they'd have pulled back already. Since they're pressing the attack, it means they're sure they can take the city, and reinforcements won't get here in time.”
Moli patted her now-flat belly, sighing in resignation, “On that note, I'm starving.”
“Weren't you just devouring a load of food from the priests?”
Leo gave a wry smile, dropping the topic as he swung his magic wand to hurl bolts of lightning down at the city, then turned his attention back to the fight.
After twenty-four hours of brutal combat, the Parasites had rotated through several batches, boasting more than ten Tier 4 Legions—actually exceeding twenty in total.
The “Corrosion” numbered in the uncountable millions, still swarming thickly and vanishing into the far reaches of the Underground Space.
However, thanks to the Parasites' heavy mana drain, the massive energy shield had shrunk since the beginning, dulling the foes' initial ferocity.
Having watched for some time and noting the attacks hadn't ceased, Leo sharpened his focus and dove back into the defense with full effort.
On this occasion, the hours dragged on unbearably until Moli crammed her mouth with handfuls of honey bread and sandwiches for a quick bite, at which point the enemy finally withdrew, melting away into the gloom.
“Is it truly finished at last?”
Only after the foes had fully vanished did Leo exhale deeply, easing his strained body.
Those around Leo mirrored his relief, as Moli slumped to the ground clutching half a strawberry cake, abandoning any pretense of spiritual grace or the mystique of a near-Tier 7 powerhouse.
