Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2657: 1462: Surprise and Reversal

Previously on Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong...
Leo Ray and Little Jie encountered a timid stone spirit survivor in the Underground City, who recognized them as allies against the Witch Demon and led them to a hidden command center amid the ruins. The stone spirit revealed a concealed final resort formation, constructed from destroyed Miracle Building materials to evade detection, designed as the alliance's ultimate defense. Too weakened to activate it herself, she transmitted the method to Little Jie, who successfully ignited the sacred array, igniting hopes of reversing the dire battle as they hurried back to the frontline.

In the subterranean chamber filled with roaring clashes and bursts of magic, while Leo Ray ventured along the corridor in pursuit of the mysterious [Stone of God], despite Sina and Loris rallying our powerhouses to restore spirits swiftly, the frontline—already in tatters—teetered right on the edge of total breakdown.

To be exact, it stood merely a single step from utter ruin.

“I’ve seen every kind of battle, faced every kind of disadvantage, and even a second-tier power couldn’t shake me, let alone you half-living folks!”

Right at the front of the defensive line, Loris bellowed at the top of his lungs, struggling to uphold the fighting spirit of his comrades nearby.

Right now, he along with the fellow melee warriors from the Rainforest Fortress Alliance by his side had been mostly isolated by the Witch Demons and Dead Spirits, forcing them into solitary combat.

This was clearly a desperate predicament, as they fought hard to get any backup from our distant attackers.

Over on the opposite flank, Sina found herself more and more swamped. Near her, an increasing number of our long-range fighters suffered heavy wounds, with some crumpling to the earth, doomed to stay down forever.

Moreover, Leo Ray's relentless combatants were starting to pant heavily; plenty saw their protective fields drain to critical lows. The mechanical constructs controlled by Broy and the Dwarf Elves lay strewn across the floor. Many such puppets had been ripped to pieces, mauled by the savage Dead Spirits.

“Hehe, they won’t last much longer!”

From deep in the foes' ranks, the Witch Demon Vice Leader assaulted Frank with frenzy, his shriveled visage twisted in wild delight as he cackled: “Crush all these conceited ants!”

“Nonsense, we won’t give up until the Lord tips the scales of victory in our favor!”

Up against the mighty Crown Dead Spirit, Xiao Jing labored to dodge its unyielding blows, firing back with icy defiance.

Besides the Crown Dead Spirit, a pair of Tier 6 Witch Demons lurked amid the turmoil, launching fatal strikes that drove Xiao Jing deeper into peril. The shield of energy around her just managed to endure a few blasts from the Dead Spirits, hanging by a thread, which left her too drained to execute Shadow Escape and dive through a space tear to escape.

Nevertheless, Xiao Jing clenched her jaw and held firm, knowing full well that falling here would mean a prolonged rest, diminishing the Lord's strength and rendering her helpless to guard him. Therefore, under no circumstances could she drop now!

“So pitifully battered, yet still holding out.”

Watching Xiao Jing's vulnerable form, one of the Witch Demons behind the ambushes jeered with scorn, brandishing his staff while mocking, “Die for me!”

With the Witch Demon's command echoing, a pale, eerie ray of lethal energy erupted from the wand's end, streaking straight at Xiao Jing's torso.

In that instant, Xiao Jing—who had barely sidestepped a brutal swing from the Crown Dead Spirit—hadn't steadied herself when the ray closed in. Though she sensed the looming danger, dodging proved impossible in time.

As this dawned on her, a handful of our close-by powerhouses shouted in panic, yet they too were bogged down too much to offer aid.

The instant after, Xiao Jing sensed a sudden golden radiance blooming beneath her boots, followed by a soft but powerful surge rising to meet her.

Next, a sturdy silhouette dropped from overhead, casually intercepting the fatal ray targeted at Xiao Jing.

“It’s you? How is this possible?”

Letting out a relieved breath after the close call, Xiao Jing's gaze bulged in shock upon identifying the sturdy savior who had intervened.

The silhouette in front of her turned out to be that very Crown Dead Spirit which had almost forced her into dormancy mere seconds earlier!

Without pause after halting the strike, the Crown Dead Spirit whirled its massive blade to savagely hack at the Witch Demon behind the ambushes.

The shift unfolded so abruptly that the Witch Demon lacked even a chance to respond, getting bisected clean through his energy shield.

The nearby Witch Demon, his features resembling a mummified husk, barely registered surprise before the Crown Dead Spirit carved him in two across the midsection.

This astonishing reversal didn't confine itself to Xiao Jing's area alone; it rippled out over the whole field of combat.

Glancing about, no less than half the Dead Spirit troops had flipped their weapons toward the Witch Demons and fellow Dead Spirits, sending scores of caught-off-guard enemies tumbling down amid screams of agony.

In particular, the Dead Spirits that had acted as front-line buffers wheeled around to assault, throwing the Witch Demons hiding in their rear into chaos, with hundreds slain before they grasped the betrayal, their necks severed as they toppled awkwardly.

All at once, the whole scene flipped upside down. Our crumbling, scattered defenses rapidly reformed and held strong, as the surviving Witch Demons and other Dead Spirits fell back in panic, too stunned to press their assault.

No surprise there, seeing as close to ten thousand Dead Spirits switched sides right in the midst of the fray, flipping our initially outnumbered and outmatched troops into a dominant position of power and manpower.
