Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2628: 1447: An Unexpected Situation

Previously on Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong...
Leo Ray's forces shattered the enemy's fortress defenses, with catman soldiers surging forward to seize control amid chaos and fleeing foes. Accompanied by Lannis and elite catmen, Leo Ray pressed toward the Medusas' Coronation Ground, repelling a deadly ambush from the snake demon commander and a witch demon expert through the swift intervention of his stone spirits, Little Jie and Xiao Jing. Summoning a stone giant to uncover the hidden entrance, the group descended into a narrow, trap-free underground passage of eerie white rock, emerging cautiously into the silent Holy Land, braced for deception.

Deep within the underground chamber glowing with an odd white radiance, Leo Ray along with his companions had only been delving for a brief period when bewilderment suddenly crossed Lannis's features as he led the scouting ahead, prompting him to signal a halt to their progress.

“Your Majesty of the Humans, something feels off.”

Lannis quickly darted back to Leo Ray's position, brows knitting together as he declared: “Up front, there are several incomplete Magic Traps, and the atmosphere carries a fresh blood aroma, which goes entirely against the Medusa way.”

“The Clan Leader speaks truly; Medusas are famed for their wariness and fickle nature, they’d never leave things so hasty and incomplete, particularly when aware of our potential arrival.”

A fellow elder Catman clad in gray armor lightly caressed his white beard while concurring: “Furthermore, we're buried at least four or five hundred meters below ground, with the tunnel twisting and extending far, so no surface blood odor could possibly drift down to this depth.”

“Those incomplete Magic Traps, plus the fresh blood smell that has no business being here—this is truly bizarre.”

Leo Ray softly stroked his chin, musing: “Might the Medusas who set up to confront us have run into some unforeseen incident, leading to this half-forsaken state? Or were they perhaps assaulted by an unidentified third force?”

His words sparked an immediate stir among the score of robust team members present.

In particular, the Catman warriors still processing it exchanged puzzled glances.

Remember, this spot marks the Medusas' utmost secret zone, where other entrances boast formidable Fortresses, and this concealed Passage itself was guarded by enemy-placed temporary Fortresses beforehand.

Moreover, prior to our entry, those surface temporary Fortresses stood unbreached and steadfast, showing no trace of assault, so how could any group have struck here beforehand?

Given Belinda’s sly and devious character, such a lapse seems impossible, especially as even Lord Leader failed to sense her malicious designs, or else we'd not be in this predicament now.

In that instant, a creeping anxiety started to diffuse through the group, the surrounding luminous white materials already lent a ghostly vibe, yet these baffling happenings only amplified the dread.

This clearly suggests we may face not just Belinda and her adherents, but also that enigmatic third-party presence.

At first, as all had anticipated, confronting Belinda and her underlings alone would prove daunting enough, yet at least the foes were clear-cut.

However, this turn of events has thrown everyone into disarray, rendering the mission far more uncertain and intricate.

“What if Lord Leader's faithful allies detected the foe's scheme and rushed here to aid Lord Leader?”

A middle-aged Catman powerhouse, lacking half an ear, lit up with hope and exclaimed suddenly.

“While we can't dismiss that chance entirely, consider Belinda’s profound cunning; prior to targeting Lord Leader, she'd have taken thorough precautions ahead, encompassing capture and elimination, leaving scant opportunity for Lord Leader’s supporters to intervene.”

The gray-armored elder Catman shook his head, refuting the idea.

“The circumstances do appear odd, yet we must press on without delay.”

Leo Ray interjected, giving a nod to the Catman powerhouses as he stated: “Let's proceed onward; fresh hints might await us further in.”

“Your Majesty of the Humans speaks wisely; all remain vigilant.”

Lannis gave a subtle nod of assent.

With that, the group resumed their forward march.

This vast white Space offered just a single path ahead, yet it brimmed with towering, murky white crystals like oddly arranged stone columns, leaving viewers' gazes swirling in confusion.

Drawing nearer to these peculiar crystals, Leo Ray examined the Attribute Column too, only to find nothing listed, signifying they weren't resources or ores, but rather an unfamiliar material encountered for the first time.

Shortly after advancing, the blood fragrance in the air intensified noticeably, while countless Medusa remains lay strewn in disorder across the floor.

All these bodies lay in disarray, severed enormous snake tails and serpentine locks littering the area, a sight so harrowing that it stunned onlookers and induced vomiting among the less seasoned Catman warriors.

Having scrutinized the scene thoroughly for some time, Leo Ray knitted his brows.

Judging by the insignia on the bodies, these Medusas matched the prior ones as Belinda’s lackeys, though no signs of additional factions appeared beyond them.

Even more startling, almost each lackey bore wide, vacant eyes and expressions of terror and Despair, clearly beholding some horrifying sight right before their end.

“It looks like they were devoured by a colossal Demon Beast; these lackeys stood no chance to resist.”

The gray-armored elder Catman eyed the strewn appendages and shards everywhere, gulping despite himself, for even with his veteran combat history, he'd never witnessed such a chilling, frenzied carnage.

“Perhaps an Illusion Technique ensnared them, sparking attacks among themselves?”

The one-eared middle-aged Catman powerhouse treaded warily over the viscous crimson floor, muttering the thought aloud.
