Chapter 1424: Strategy and Deployment (Part 2)
“Lord, are you suggesting that the potential fractures in the Magic Barrier are located exactly where the magical leylines are surging?”
Shelly’s eyes lit up with sudden realization. “My Lord, your deduction is flawless! The fissures created during the eruption of the magical leylines, even if they have been mended, are undoubtedly the most fragile sections of the entire magical restriction!”
As Shelly finished her sentence, those among the wood fairies who possessed the most profound mastery of magic, such as Crisis, nodded in fervent agreement. It was a logical certainty that the repaired areas of the Barrier would be more vulnerable than the original structure!
One must remember that the Wood Fairies possess an intricate understanding of magic barriers, much like the Flower Fairies who once maintained the Barrier for the ancient Human Tribe.
“Precisely. Should any new breaches form in the Magic Barrier, they are most likely to appear at these previous rupture points—places like the ruins of the Loren Royal City or the lowest depths of the Dragon Nest at Mist Dream Peak.”
Leo Ray confirmed Shelly’s assessment before adding, “Consequently, we must prioritize monitoring these specific coordinates and station the appropriate Absolute Defense Barrier units there. I will convene a meeting later tonight to finalize these deployments immediately.”
Leo Ray was acutely aware that while King West’s mission implied the Great Catastrophe’s cracks would manifest within the Human Domain, there was no guarantee they would be confined to that region. They could just as easily appear across other territories of the Outer Region simultaneously.
None of these locations could be neglected. As his influence expanded, more and more of the Outer Region fell under his protection. He had to ensure a complete defensive network was established within every territory under his command.
While Leo Ray lost himself in thought, the determination in the eyes of the assembled powerhouses grew stronger.
Thanks to the Lord’s strategic foresight, their confidence in standing against the ‘Corrosion’ had reached new heights!
“Your Majesty, regarding the search for the Great Catastrophe cracks in the regions of the Dimensional Storm and the Dislocated Objects—should we cease those operations?” the Grey Elder asked after a moment of reflection.
“No, I intend to commit even more manpower, resources, and funding to those efforts. Even if our previous investigative directions don't lead directly to the Great Catastrophe cracks, they represent mysteries we have yet to solve. We can adjust our focus, but the inquiry must continue.”
Leo Ray rubbed his chin thoughtfully and replied, “The matter of the Dislocated Objects is vital, and the Dimensional Storms have become increasingly frequent in late years. We have learned how to survive them, yet the cause of their formation remains a mystery to us.”
“Understood, Your Majesty.”
The Grey Elder’s weathered face clouded over as he raised another point. “Your Majesty, there is another urgent matter: the situation at Old Nick’s location.”
“The teleportation portal hidden in the depths of that cave is difficult to trigger, but it undeniably connects to an unknown ruin where ‘Corrosion’ was active—and perhaps still is.”
Ariel Watson immediately agreed with the Grey Elder’s concerns. “Indeed, my Lord. A magical leyline eruption definitely occurred there, and its proximity to Viennas City is worrying. If the enemy repairs that teleportation gate, even a small force could pose a lethal threat to the nearby Coldflame Citizens.”
“That certainly requires our full attention. I will oversee a total deployment for that entire sector, cave included, and move the local population to safer ground. Once my schedule permits, I will personally scout those unknown ruins to purge the ‘Corrosion’ lurking within.”
Leo Ray nodded firmly, his eyes turning cold and sharp.
“Lord, what are your orders for the White Knight?” Shelly bowed and asked. “Should we keep it here to guard against sudden threats? However, this is the very heart of the Coldflame Palace.”
“It would be beneficial to find a location similar to the Lion King Temple, ideally one removed from high-population centers and the seat of power,” the Grey Elder suggested, stroking his beard.
“There is such a place—Crystal Blue City.”
After a brief pause, Leo Ray realized the solution. “The Chasing Light Castle functions very similarly to the Lion King Temple. It would be perfect if it could accommodate others besides Sean Parker and his group.”
“Even though Crystal Blue City is restricted to the Human Domain, it allows us to reach any distant corner in an instant.”
Leo Ray then turned to Shelly and Elder Bing. “I am entrusting the full investigation of Chasing Light Castle to the two of you. As its master, I will provide you with maximum clearance to the Miracle Building to aid your research. Until then, the White Knight will stay in the depths of the Lion King Temple, guarded by the Stone Spirit holder and the Stone Spirits on a rotating basis.”
“As you command, my Lord!” the group replied in a thunderous, unified voice, bowing deeply.
“Very well, it is time for us to depart as well.” Leo Ray began to lead the way out.
Upon his return to Lion Castle, Leo Ray’s first action was to call a massive assembly. He summoned the Seven Kings of the humans, Quinn Serena, various Lord representatives, and Outer Region leaders like Crisis. It was the first time he had gathered his entire coalition of forces in one place to brief them on the intelligence regarding the Great Catastrophe.
After explaining the situation in detail, his second move was to implement a comprehensive monitoring and defense grid across every site in their territory where magical leylines had erupted.
Once the leaders departed with grim expressions to carry out their duties, Leo Ray finally exhaled in relief and retired to the Queen’s chambers with Ariel Watson.
“My Lord, after being busy for so long, we can finally catch our breath,” Ariel Watson said with a sigh of emotion, handing him a cup of steaming tea.
“This is only the beginning. We aren't just facing the coming Great Catastrophe; there are terrifying entities in the deeper parts of the Outer Region that we cannot yet rival,” Leo Ray said with a faint smile, holding the warm cup. “However, we no longer walk this difficult path alone. Our circle of companions is growing.”
“My Lord is right. Seeing so many powerhouses from the Outer Region gathered was truly a sight. Even Queen Catherine was stunned, and Cecilia, Lawrence, Eckhart, Willy, and Phil were incredibly nervous.”
Ariel Watson’s eyes sparkled as she enjoyed this rare private moment with Leo Ray. “The fairies were charming, the Treants were so dependable, and the Dwarf Elves seemed quite friendly. I must admit, the massive Trolls and Minotaurs were a bit frightening.”
“Yet, they all showed such deep respect toward my Lord. It makes me so proud, especially since those races usually look down upon humanity.”
“And that Dragonborn Queen… she looks so much like us, it was quite a shock…”
Leo Ray sipped his tea, smiling as he listened to Ariel Watson’s cheerful rambling. Her melodic voice brought a sense of rare tranquility to his heart.
Still, despite the progress they were making, one concern remained at the forefront of his mind.
He needed a better way to combat the ‘Corrosion.’ Depending entirely on the [Stone of God] felt too restrictive.
During the struggle at the Dragon Nest, he had nearly tapped out the entire power reserve of the Stone Spirits.
“Is there any other force capable of damaging the ‘Corrosion’? Regardless, I must speed up the collection of the other [Stone of God] fragments.”
Leo Ray nodded to himself at the thought.
Furthermore, another critical event was fast approaching.
