“The second possibility is quite easy to deduce once you think about it.”
Leo Ray first suppressed the throbbing purple magical glow within his palm before continuing, “Your presence here can be attributed to a single reason—you were left with no other choice.”
“This is the only logical explanation for why you chose to parasitize the White Knight; you simply lacked any alternative options.”
Stepping over the stone tiers of the altar, Leo Ray began a slow approach toward the vacant-eyed figure, remarking casually, “If my calculations are correct, when the magical ley lines erupted a millennium ago, you weren't the only thing that surged from the depths. Weren't there others of your species pursuing you?”
“Forced into it? Followed by others of his kind?”
Hearing these words, the crowd surrounding Leo Ray—including our powerful allies and the Stone Spirits—could not hide their astonishment as they began to trace the logic of Leo Ray’s deductions.
Following this line of reasoning, was it possible that this entity was being hunted or sought by other ‘Corrosion’ at that time? Perhaps it had no choice but to latch onto the nearby White Knight as a vessel to hide and escape its pursuers?
Stunned by this sudden clarity, our team members finally understood. It was no wonder the Lord had maintained such a composed demeanor; he had perceived the truth from the very beginning.
Just as the Lord suggested, if this arrogant foe viewed our side as nothing more than insignificant ants, then this was indeed the only plausible scenario.
Standing directly before Leo Ray, the “White Knight” maintained his wall of silence.
Perhaps because he had not yet perfected his command over the host’s facial muscles, the opponent’s expression was no longer as tranquil as before. Obvious tremors of emotion flickered across his face before being forcibly suppressed.
“Allow me to speculate: in the beginning, before the crystallization manifested, you were capable of hiding yourself silently within your host, weren't you?”
Leo Ray stood toe-to-toe with the “White Knight,” asserting, “Such a concealment method is incredibly difficult to detect, even for your own kind. After all, the location where the White Knight was found was a corpse-strewn battlefield—undoubtedly the perfect sanctuary for you to vanish.”
“However, after you took him as a host, the mortally wounded White Knight lost consciousness entirely. He remained unaware that more of your kind appeared later on.”
Leo Ray peered deeply into the hollow eyes of the being in front of him, his voice steady, “Am I correct?”
Yet, as Leo Ray finished speaking, the adversary offered no rebuttal and gave no answer, standing as still as a strange monument.
Witnessing this, the elite allies standing guard beside Leo Ray did not lower their guard for an instant; while remaining alert, they all began to frown once more.
Leo Ray, however, remained unruffled and spoke again, “Your Excellency, since you claim to be a higher lifeform, surely you consider lying beneath your dignity?”
“Master of the Human Clan, it appears this man’s profound respect for you in his subconscious is well-founded.”
After a prolonged pause, the “White Knight” finally spoke, his voice remaining raspy and low, “You are correct. I have no requirement to lie. If the Great Catastrophe truly descends, not just the insignificant Human Clan, but even those entities who deem themselves peak powers will face nothing but total destruction.”
Having said that, the “White Knight” stated coldly, “I confess, your intuition is sharp. I did have a falling out with my kin, which led to our separation. The White Knight served as my sanctuary. I preserved his life, and in his ignorance, he provided me shelter.”
Upon hearing this admission, our powerful allies were filled with triumph, their faces reflecting joy and excitement.
Indeed, with only a few sentences, the Lord had deduced that the enemy was in conflict with other ‘Corrosion’ and was even being hunted by them.
This undoubtedly signified that our prospects of extracting vital intelligence from the opponent had improved dramatically!
“I am aware of your thoughts, and even now, the White Knight—whom I have completely suppressed—is overwhelmed with a sense of uncontrollable glee.”
A look of contempt flickered in the empty stare of the “White Knight” as he mocked, “I may have disagreements with my kind, but that does not imply you will extract the information you seek from me. If you were in my position, would you divulge everything to a swarm of ants?”
“Do not forget that it was those very ants you despise who gave you refuge, and that your own desperation back then led you to this choice.”
Leo Ray’s voice was resolute as he spoke softly, “Your isolation might be your source of pride, but it means nothing to us. Furthermore, do not forget that I possess the power to easily end your existence.”
“However, I believe we can find a middle ground.”
Changing his approach, Leo Ray suggested, “If you are unwilling to discuss other matters, then let us talk about why you clashed with your own kind. Surely that doesn't wound your solitary pride?”
“Humans truly are inquisitive beings, exactly as I have always observed.”
The “White Knight” reflected for a moment before answering honestly, “There is no harm in telling you. The reason for the rift with my kin is simply that I am a deviation among the ‘Corrosion,’ nothing more.”
“A deviation among the ‘Corrosion’?”
At these words, our elite allies, though still on high alert, could not help but feel a spark of curiosity, while Leo Ray narrowed his eyes slightly, continuing to listen to the entity’s explanation.
