Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2578: 1421: Confrontation and Dialogue

Previously on Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong...
Leo Ray prepares to confront the "Corrosion" parasitizing the White Knight within the safety of the Lion King Temple. Sarah Shawn readies a secret spell to preserve the knight’s life essence should the entity resist, while powerful allies stand guard to prevent any sudden violence. Upon removing his mask, the White Knight reveals a horrifyingly mutated face covered in sinister blue crystals and withered skin. When the silent entity refuses to communicate, Leo Ray threatens it with a surge of lethal energy, prompting the knight to collapse and rise again with a dark, transformed gaze.

Detecting the White Knight's strange transformation, the elite combatants encircling him went into a state of high alert, their hands tightening around their weapons.

Among the crowd, Leo Ray, Grey Elder, Elder Bing, Crisis, and the Stone Spirits who had previously encountered "Corrosion" understood the danger instinctively, while the other warriors were well aware of the nightmare this entity represented.

Setting everything else aside, the bone-chilling dread radiated by "Corrosion" was sufficient to make any cultivator below half-step Tier 6 lose their mind to terror. Old Nick served as the perfect testament to this fact.

Furthermore, it remained impervious to all forms of magic and physical strikes, even those launched by Tier 6 experts. It possessed the terrifying ability to parasitize massive beings like the Sky Overlord dragons. Our knowledge regarding it remained dangerously sparse.

Facing such a nearly invincible foe naturally caused a cold shiver to run down the spines of many formidable warriors.

“Haha, what a truly magnificent reception.”

A raspy, deep voice—entirely distinct from the White Knight’s original tone—suddenly vibrated from the latter’s throat.

The “White Knight” tilted his head upward; at first, those dull, crystalline eyes rotated slowly, scanning the warriors who stood ready for combat.

His gaze then locked onto Leo Ray, who stood in a commanding position before the altar. He spoke without a trace of emotion: “Lord of Humans, you have exerted much effort to force my appearance. What do you intend to achieve?”

As the “White Knight” uttered these words, a subtle and strange energy ripple surged forth, nearly impossible to detect.

However, Leo Ray, Grey Elder, and the others who had previously faced "Corrosion" head-on recognized it immediately. Though the energy wave lacked overt aggression, it undeniably originated from "Corrosion."

Furthermore, Stone Spirits like Xiao Jing and Little Jie were absolutely certain, signaling their confirmation to Leo Ray with a nod.

It appeared that the Stone Spirits were not only capable of resisting "Corrosion" but also possessed the innate ability to sense its presence. As long as "Corrosion" attempted to manifest on the surface, it could never hide from the Stone Spirits' perception.

Having confirmed his theory, Leo Ray looked calmly at the “White Knight” standing before him.

The previous warmth in the “White Knight’s” eyes had vanished completely, replaced by a cold detachment and defensive posture. This further proved that the enemy was indeed “Corrosion,” having seized total control of the White Knight’s physical form.

“Since my identity is known to you, does that mean you are capable of reading the White Knight’s thoughts?”

Leo Ray chose not to answer the question directly, instead posing his own inquiry with a calm demeanor.

“This should not be termed reading; rather, it is a form of thought-sharing, much like the symbiotic connection you mentioned before.”

The “White Knight’s” eyes remained guarded as he replied: “However, my power is far more dominant, deeper and more frigid. The White Knight lacks the capacity to access my thoughts in return.”

“To be more precise, even if he possessed such strength, he would likely descend into madness while trying to grasp my consciousness, or perhaps suffer a fate even more dire.”

The “White Knight” went on expressionlessly: “It is like the proverb you frequently employ: when you stare long into the abyss, the abyss stares back into you.”

Upon hearing this, the powerful warriors present knit their brows slightly.

Even though the voice was flat, it carried an unmistakable sense of arrogance and contempt.

This was not merely the pride of a strong being looking at a weakling, but a much more profound level of disdain—one that was hard to put into words, similar to a human observing ants from a completely different dimension.

“If that is the case, you must be fully aware of the current circumstances, correct?”

Leo Ray’s face remained stoic as he spoke from his elevated position: “Then why ask a question you already know the answer to?”

“Naturally, I am aware that you have engaged my kind before and gathered fragments regarding the Great Catastrophe from those ancient Wandering Poets. You also believe you have the means to oppose me.”

“But what of it? How can you be so certain that you will force the information you desire from me, simply because you are the Lord of Humans?”

The “White Knight” let out a mocking sneer in response.

At those words, the surrounding warriors frowned even deeper, and a heavy, palpable killing intent began to fill the hall.

Despite being cornered, the adversary remained haughty, displaying total defiance!

Noticing the volatile reactions of his warriors, Leo Ray gave a slight wave of his hand, silently commanding everyone to remain composed.

The survival of the human race and the Ten Thousand Clans depended on squeezing every bit of intelligence out of this entity; Leo Ray would not let such a vital opportunity slip away easily.

The opponent's taunting suggested a sense of desperation; having realized his predicament, he was attempting to incite chaos.

“Your Excellency, there is a question I have been curious about for a long time.”

Leo Ray did not react with fury. Instead, he used a touch of humor to shift the subject: “A millennium ago, when the White Knight reached his breaking point, why did you offer him your aid?”

“It was nothing more than a passing whim.”

The “White Knight” arched his illusory brows, answering indifferently: “I happened to be present, as was he. There was nothing more to it than that.”

“I suspect it wasn't quite that simple.”

Leo Ray stared intently into the opponent’s crystal eyes, continuing: “Based on our clashes with 'Corrosion,' including the incident with Old Nick, it is clear your goal has always been our annihilation. You consistently view yourselves as superior beings.”

“Given that, even if you stumbled upon the White Knight by chance, your natural impulse should have been to drive him deeper into misery or simply ignore him. Choosing to parasitize him—effectively saving his life and remaining hidden within him for a thousand years—contradicts all logic.”

As Leo Ray spoke, the warriors looked thoughtful and began to nod in agreement.

The Lord’s assessment was spot on. Since the enemy was so incredibly arrogant, why would they choose to hide inside a territory they despised without a specific reason? There had to be a hidden motive.

“Lord of Humans, what exactly are you implying?”

The “White Knight’s” expression grew even darker as he continued to stare down Leo Ray.

“I believe you had two possible reasons for your actions.”

Leo Ray shrugged and went on: “First, perhaps you wanted to collect intelligence on us to prepare for the coming Great Catastrophe. However, if that were true, you would have targeted more influential figures rather than a broken Knight.”

“Furthermore, I have found no trace of your kind within any member of the Human Royal Family. Your parasitism is distinctive and cannot bypass the detection of the Stone Spirits.”

“So, it is obvious that wasn't your goal. You, who hold such a high opinion of yourselves, likely never considered it, being a collective of conceited entities.”

Hearing Leo Ray’s analysis, the “White Knight” merely snorted, seemingly in silent admission.

“If the first reason is ruled out, then only the second motive remains.”

Leo Ray’s eyes sharpened, and the words he spoke next left everyone in the room stunned.
