Merra found herself trapped and defenseless against a powerful girl from the Sword Squad after Adam's attack created an opening to kill her companion. Meanwhile, Zargos battled Morok and two others, his enhanced strength from Adam's influence holding them at bay despite his growing frustration over the prolonged fight. A devastating comet-like force crashed into the basement, revealing Zargos's fierce sister who brutally interrogated and executed the girl, extracting confessions about their mission to capture or kill Adam Vinter. Towering over Adam, she seized him by the throat, declaring her intent to eliminate those who trouble her brother.

A primary motive for Zargos assisting Adam and pulling him from Morok's trap lay in his ambition to outshine his sister.

He held no desire to shame her or usurp her role as clan leader. Rather, he merely sought to playfully mock her and behold her reaction upon discovering his greater might.

Such peculiar incentives seemed fitting, given their sibling ties and the nature of Zargos's character.

Even after engaging in multiple extended discussions with Zargos, Adam gleaned only scant information about his sister, Keranda.

The single definitive remark Zargos made was that his sister proved a formidable woman.

At that instant, Adam grasped exactly why Zargos had voiced that opinion.

"Miss Keranda!" Merra cried out in alarm. "Please release him! Mr. Zargos acted this way because he and Adam struck a bargain!"

Merra's plea reached her ears, yet she refused to face around, persisting in compressing Adam's throat.

"Is that true? How did you encounter my brother?"

Adam labored to utter words, but retained a grin across his features:

"That jerk abducted me... then... it became evident he truly rescued me. Rather than offering remorse, he proposed to enhance my power... served me fruit and a cocktail, instructed his servant to wear a swimsuit, and then hurled me into inner space without permission..."

Keranda's eyes briefly expanded in surprise.

Devising a sharper depiction of her brother bordered on impossibility. She entertained no disbelief.

Tap.

She eased her hold, permitting Adam to tumble onto the floor.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

He gasped, gripping his neck. A handful more moments and oxygen would have eluded him entirely.

"That's correct, but... How were you able to strengthen him?" Keranda arched an eyebrow.

Adam let out a chuckle.

"Huh, apologies, but you'll need to inquire with him about that. It's his stipulation."

Saying no more, she inclined her head and proceeded toward the doorway.

"Trail after me. Keeping within my view will simplify my efforts to safeguard you."

She passed by the youth. Blood streaming from his neck drenched the earth below, yet even that gash failed to end him.

Tap.

Borne on a sudden breeze, he surged upright, katana gripped in one fist. He channeled every ounce of his vitality to move covertly and with haste.

Should an opportunity to eliminate Keranda present itself, he needed to grasp it!

"Miss!" Merra shouted, yet Keranda appeared unaware, not bothering to glance back.

Whooooosh!

Via an abrupt pivot, Keranda's punch collided with the youth's chin. Her gravitational surge and raw might surged through the impact.

A resounding snap of shattering bones and splitting meat reverberated as the youth's head severed from his shoulders, hurtling against the barrier.

Thump.

The headless form crumpled to the earth, adjacent to his katana.

"Now, onward. I must assist my brother." She gnashed her teeth in quiet fury. "No one dares to harm him!!!"

Adam quivered.

'Damn, he spoke truly. His sister is genuinely terrifying. Gee, I can't fathom the chaos when these two clash.'

He offered a wry smile.

'It's a blend of comedy and drama combined.'

...

Keranda's directives demanded compliance, applying equally to Adam and Merra, both of whom trailed her.

The moment Keranda emerged, the entire scenario flipped. Beyond now possessing two premier combatants from the Flaming Eye Clan as allies, Keranda's conduct shifted the dynamic.

In contrast to Zargos, she shunned jests. She operated with gravity, resembling a soldier. Her prowess ensured she never halted her advance, irrespective of perils ahead.

Step.

Keranda advanced one pace before coming to a halt, her gaze broadening.

Concurrently, Zargos clashed with Morok alongside two fellow Lords. He held his ground, yet the unrelenting assaults of lightning and golden flames hampered him, particularly Morok's.

Morok's shadows loomed thick and domineering.

"Is that the limit of your flames?" Morok scowled while balling his fist.

A chill raced along Zargos's spine as he vaulted sideways. The scarlet blaze chased him, rapidly consumed by the gloom.

TREMBLE!

The dark surge shredded the terrain, obliterating towering jungle trees to dust. The foliage disintegrated into fragments, as though poisoned.

"Hah, you once brimmed with more assurance!" The woman declared, flashing a cunning grin.

The burly fellow inclined forward, poised to unleash another blow.

Oddly, Zargos disregarded them entirely.

With a subtle grin, he spun and gestured casually.

"Hey, long time no see, huh?"

Morok and his companions whirled as well. This development caught them off guard.

The woman swallowed nervously.

"Wait... Is that her?"

The burly fellow nodded.

"It's Keranda. Boss, what's our play? Two chiefs from the Flaming Eye Clan... Is Adam Vinter truly worth the risk?"

Ere Morok could reply, Keranda elevated her arm and slashed it downward fiercely.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

An immense force bore down on them, fracturing the ground underfoot.

"Tsk!" The woman snarled, her legs quivering.

Had lesser Lords stood there, they'd have crumpled, utterly immobilized against the soil.

Step. Step. Step.

Each stride from Keranda amplified the force until the woman buckled to one knee and blood seeped from the man's nostrils.

She positioned herself beside Zargos, staring down the three fiends with blazing intensity.

"Morok, you dared strike my brother? Has the darkness finally corroded your mind over these years?"

He creased his brow.

"What do you mean? I'm obeying commands. Can't you grasp how perilous Adam Vinter is? Nobody wishes to discover his might five years hence!"

Shadows masked Keranda's visage.

"What concern is that to me? From what I know, Adam Vinter stands as my comrade. Why should I fret?"

Morok cast a final glance at Adam before shaking his head.

"I see... Then, we're withdrawing."

This wasn't a calculated pullback. It constituted outright flight. They dissolved into shades within an instant.

Tap.

Zargos rested his palm on Keranda's shoulder.

"Hey, sis. My battle persists."

He flashed a grin.

"How about pursuing three prey? Like old times?"
