Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1621 1621: Brother and Sister's Hunt

Morok took what might have been the smartest move available—pulling back.
Uncertainty clouded what unfolded at the mansion, yet with Keranda present and the auras of the girl and the young man vanished, he grasped the grim truth.
Step. Step. Step.
Just the trio lingered now, forced to exert every ounce of effort just to stay alive.
"Boss!" The burly guy shouted, as jungle foliage whipped by his features. "We can dash across the canyon. Beyond it lies another clan's domain! They won't risk wrecking their own turf!"
Morok harbored reservations about the scheme, yet alternatives were scarce.
"Fine. Then we head that way. Clashing with Zargos and Keranda together is pointless. If our elders aim to eliminate Adam Vinter for good, they'll require a far more intense strategy."
The woman gnawed her lip until it nearly drew blood.
"That wench... She burst in and flipped the whole script! DAMN IT! Someday I'll rip that wench apart!"
Actually, the Befallen Crown deployed way more manpower than typical to wipe out Adam. Normally, spotting a threat in a Phantom meant dispatching just one or two assassins in tandem sufficed.
Scenarios like sending a full squad after a K4-Phantom, as with Liliane and the fifth team, proved uncommon. Even scarcer were instances where a Phantom survived after two separate groups attempted and botched the kill.
This benefited Adam in a way, keeping him breathing with plenty of supporters poised to shield him, each for their own motives.
However, the instant the Befallen Crown got another shot at him, they'd unleash a beast of such might that aid would prove futile.
This dread would haunt him for ages, persisting until the fatal encounter or until his strength grew sufficient to dismiss the fear.
Tremble!
A shudder rippled through the atmosphere, spinning the three around as the woman's eyes bulged.
"What the…?"
Keranda, expression serene, trailed them, leaping off the air like solid ground. She wore lofty black-iron boots, violet energy surges tracing their razor edges.
Whenever her velocity dipped a bit, she triggered a gravity wave. The purple surge undulated in the air, boosting her pace and distorting the surrounding space.
"Hold on, she's aiming to—!"
Before the woman could complete her words, Keranda materialized between her and the burly man.
With icy, ruthless eyes, she seized their shoulders and bore down with full force.
TREMBLE. TREMBLE. TREMBLE.
The crushing weight upon them felt capable of shattering every bone.
"ARGH!" Crimson spurted from the burly man's mouth.
Regrettably for them, this marked merely the start.
"Nobody escapes this place. This domain follows our laws."
BAM!
In a fluid strike, Keranda bashed their skulls into the earth, carving two furrows from the forceful impact.
Morok whirled about, summoning shadows around his form. He needed to aid them. Already, two teammates had perished.
"Not quite!"
Zargos bellowed, materializing directly before Morok. His vivid blaze scattered Morok's shadows.
"You see, my sister forever chases the mightiest and riskiest foes, but this time it's mine to claim!"
BAM!
The blazing eruption hurled Morok away. His shadows attempted to regroup, but the scarlet flames scorched them relentlessly, blocking any return to battle readiness.
Like a plummeting comet, Morok smashed through jungle branches until colliding with a boulder.
"GHA!" Agony wracked him as the blazing fist gleamed in his gaze.
The shadows shielded him from the initial blow, sparks erupting before Zargos's golden eyes. With no others around, Zargos could unleash his true might.
"Hahaha! What's the matter, Morok? Dislike the thrill of the chase?"
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Fiery blows hammered down on Morok relentlessly, leaving him only able to block and evade, powerless to counter.
"You scum...!" Morok clenched his jaw, squinting fiercely. "You have no clue what you've stirred! Your clan and all mean zilch against the Befallen Crown!"
He roared, erecting a shadowy barrier around himself, repelling Zargos into retreat.
"Agh... Agh... Agh..." Morok panted raggedly, scorch marks marring his frame, with just a fragment of his shadows lingering.
Prior to his advancement, Zargos would have struggled to match Morok evenly, but now a vast gap separated them. He hadn't faltered in the 1 vs. 3 skirmish, so solo, Morok was doomed.
His sole chance rested on his comrades' aid, which demanded they overpower Keranda—an improbable feat.
Whoooooooosh.
A figure soared from the flank, shredding broad jungle foliage. Moments later, a second silhouette hurtled from the same path.
Two forms crashed nearby, right in Morok's view.
His complexion drained of color.
The burly man bore no wounds beyond his heart ripped free with brutal strength, exposing his ribs.
The woman endured a far graver end. Nearly all her bones lay fractured, her neck wrenched so severely that skin tore open.
Death claimed them both. Their auras had dissipated entirely, beyond any salvation.
Step. Step. Step.
Solemn footfalls resounded from the side as Keranda's outline emerged.
Her breaths came even and composed, blood streaking her features, her stare icy.
She viewed these two not as worthy rivals. To her, it resembled slaying wild creatures—no, more like purging vermin.
"So what next, Morok?" she inquired. "You realize my brother retains plenty of vigor, while you're fading. Even solo, he'll reduce you to cinders."
Morok scowled, recognizing the stark reality.
Luckily, as squad captain, he possessed a unique asset.
'I must deploy it for getaway. Screw the consequences. I gave it my all!'
