Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1540 1540: Azure Rush

Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Adam and Alexia faced a horde of Stone Demons in a grueling trial, quickly uncovering that the beasts' horns created illusions of superhuman speed, masking their true vulnerability. With this weakness exposed, Adam tore out the first demon's horns in a brutal display, shattering its head and turning the tide into a one-sided slaughter as the pair dismantled the rest without mercy. Blood-soaked and triumphant amid the carnage, they confronted a new threat: a massive Red Demon crashing through the dome, its single glowing horn radiating real danger, prompting Alexia to shed her restraints and demand the fight for herself.

The Stone Demons behaved like cowards, mainly attempting to overcome Adam and Alexia by means of tricks and mirages.

In contrast, the Red Demon seemed utterly unlike them. Adam needed just an instant to grasp that this creature was genuinely perilous.

Furthermore, this Red Demon possessed a single horn, and based on all they'd observed during the second trial, it stood as the sole element required to unlock the gate.

Thus, he readied himself for combat, a genuine clash, unlike the simple thrashing they'd inflicted on the feeble Stone Demons, which merely pretended to be mighty.

But...

Alexia held different intentions.

"You plan to take him on alone?" Adam questioned. Skepticism rang clear in his tone. He doubted his own ability to swiftly overcome the Red Demon by himself, so he wondered if Alexia could manage it.

Alexia nodded firmly.

"Exactly since you requested it, I won't retreat now. Actually, Adam, it bothers me that I've been taking a backseat in our duo recently. It's high time I showed you I'm no less capable than you!"

At heart, Adam wished to refuse. He firmly thought the Red Demon held enough strength to badly hurt Alexia. Should that occur, achieving their goals for the Third Grand Star would prove far tougher.

Yet, just one path lay open to him.

Step. Step. Step.

Adam retreated several paces and rested his back against the pillar, wearing a casual look. He folded his arms across his torso and grinned slyly.

"Fine, message received. Now you've got to pummel him thoroughly, or I'll mock you forever! Hahaha!"

"Pffft!" Alexia huffed while rolling her eyes. "That's hardly the support I hoped for from my partner, but honestly, I didn't anticipate more from you."

Regardless, the moment for banter ended as the Red Demon advanced. His massive body traversed the shadowy chamber, with just a fleeting sparkle catching in the mirrors.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Crimson energy surges poured into his limb, charging his knuckles with force sufficient to hurl the ice worm airborne in one strike.

"Ghahahah!" The Red Demon laughed ominously, foreseeing his triumph.

What threat did the tiny female in front of him pose? She struggled to master her own abilities that chilled her limbs!

Maybe those thoughts raced through the Red Demon's mind right before he launched his blow.

Whoooooooosh.

The enormous fist crashed onto the floor, rattling the mirror chamber. Fissures spread over the walls, and the ground broke apart into chunks flung away by the blast.

But...

"AH?"

The Red Demon's eyes fluttered as he noticed Alexia absent beneath his strike. What's more, she had vanished entirely from his sight.

Shortly after, the Red Demon dropped his stare, detecting the chill rising from beneath.

At last, he spotted Alexia, her hand pressed against his torso.

"Maybe I misjudged you, and you're as deceitful as the rest of these demons..." She murmured, frosty vapor billowing from her shoulders.

The Red Demon attempted to pull away, but too much time had passed as Alexia unleashed her move.

The fierce azure creature morphed into a unified surge of power that surged like ancient frost down her limb, erupting from her hand at one focused spot.

A burst flashed across her vision, and in moments, ice and chill dominated all. Within this domain, she reigned supreme.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The icy beam, akin to a beam from a frozen celestial body, bore through the Red Demon's torso and exploded outward in a mighty stream.

Arches and columns gained a heavy coating of frost, just like the surroundings, until the force grew overwhelming and they crumbled, reduced to frozen wreckage.

Adam's gaze expanded in shock as he shielded his face with his arms against the onslaught of frost and flakes surging his way from Alexia's sole assault.

Not until moments later did Adam uncover his eyes to survey the aftermath.

The whole mirror hall lay encased in a dense frost layer, icicles dangled from above, and the zone ahead of Alexia stood utterly wrecked, turned into frosted rubble.

Alexia, suspended slightly off the floor, gradually glanced back as their gazes connected.

Her gaze remained serene and profound like timeless frost, mirroring the might she'd unleashed moments ago.

The towering bulk looming over her toppled to the earth, bearing a vast cavity in its midsection.

Rumble!

In a thunderous fall, the Red Demon reached his demise. His stare gaped wide, brimming with terror, frozen from the instant of Alexia's onslaught.

Her icy grip had sealed his fate completely, transforming him into a colossal frozen figure.

The gory injury proved unnecessary, for the Red Demon perished prior to it. It served merely as a stark showcase of Alexia's strength, proving she could vanquish even a horde of such foes if demanded.

"Haaa..."

Alexia breathed out chilly mist while shutting her eyes.

Her presence dimmed rapidly, reverting to its usual state as she ceased levitating.

"Alexia!"

Adam dashed ahead without delay, seizing her just before she tumbled.

"I... I'm okay... No reason to shout so loud," she muttered.

Even so, she failed to conceal the pleased grin on her lips. Her pride in that strike was too great to hide.

"Did you witness it? That's merely a sliver of my full potential!" Alexia declared energetically, despite barely managing to stay upright.

Such words drew only a wry grin from Adam.

"Huh, right, that was just 1% of your real strength, huh?"

"Well," she folded her arms over her chest. "You realize I'm humble. Perhaps 2%, wait, no—only 1.5%! Yeah, that fits better!"

Adam chuckled while eyeing the Red Demon, or more precisely, its throbbing horn.

'At last, the second trial concludes. Tsk, this Ancient Voice brings endless hassle, yet we press forward.'
