Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1474 - Capítulo 1474: Bowling
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Bowling was a universally recognized pastime. While it demanded considerable space and generated noise, it offered an excellent avenue for individuals seeking active recreation that could also be team-oriented and competitive.
Moreover, in contrast to more physically demanding sports, bowling was accessible to everyone. Even without particular skill, a player might, by sheer luck, send the ball down the lane to topple all ten pins simultaneously.
Certainly, bowling featured competitions and tournaments. Many professionals dedicated years to training, earning their livelihoods from the sport.
However, for the most part, it remained a form of entertainment, frequently enjoyed with friends in the evenings.
Adam, Alexia, Silvana, and Louis were no exception to this. Unlike previous games, such as poker, none of them possessed a significant advantage over the others here.
True, Adam and Alexia could effortlessly achieve a strike with every throw. However, they intentionally minimized their power for this exact reason. Currently, their auras were almost indistinguishable from those of ordinary humans.
Curiously, Louis and Silvana also needed to follow suit. Louis already understood how to regulate his power, but in Silvana’s case, Adam had to explicitly instruct her on the precise method.
It wasn't a complex skill, and Silvana quickly grasped it. Soon, the four of them began their game.
At this point, their physical capabilities were on par with those of well-trained individuals. While they were still taller than the average person, despite their ability to limit their energy, they could not suppress their reflexes, experience, and memories. These aspects would remain with them indefinitely.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Silvana twirled the ball in her hand, preparing for her next shot, immediately following Adam.
She herself had suggested bowling and had some prior experience, yet she still felt a sense of nervousness.
‘How strange…’ She mused, observing Adam knock down five out of ten pins on his first throw in the frame. ‘I’m not typically a very competitive person, but now… Damn, the main thing is not to finish last!’
Step.
Silvana stepped forward, bent down, and confidently rolled her red ball.
Adam and Alexia watched the ball intently as it collided with the pins on the right side. Seven pins scattered, and a faint smile appeared on Silvana’s face.
It was an excellent outcome. While it wasn't a strike—where all ten pins fall in a single roll—if Silvana could knock down the remaining pins on her subsequent throw, it would be a spare, earning her bonus points and providing an advantage over the other players.
Certainly, the optimal outcome for any bowler was to achieve a strike with every roll, culminating in 300 points—the maximum possible score in this game.
However, even for professionals who bowled constantly and relied on it for their livelihood, achieving a strike every time was an impossibility.
If someone were bowling for the first time, they might, with luck, achieve one strike per game.
The fact that Silvana began her game by knocking down seven pins was already commendable, especially since Adam only managed five pins in his initial two rolls, and Silvana still had one more roll remaining in her turn.
“Not bad.” Adam nodded deeply. “Do you think you can knock down the rest?”
At that moment, a confident gleam flashed in Silvana’s eyes, but she wished to avoid appearing overly confident.
“Hah, you’re overestimating me. As I said, I’ve only bowled a couple of times in my life, so if that happens, it just means I got lucky!”
However, her internal thoughts diverged completely from her spoken words.
‘Shit! Of course I want to knock them down!’ Silvana exclaimed internally before making her next roll.
Yet, despite her best efforts, she couldn't knock down the remaining three pins; her ball only struck one.
“Damn it!” Silvana clenched her fist, her eyes burning.
A moment later, she altered her demeanor, quickly regaining her calm expression, but it could not escape Adam’s perceptive gaze.
‘Hah, it seems she’s found a game she enjoys. She’s definitely having fun. Well, that doesn’t mean I’m going to lose!’
Louis was next after Silvana. He didn’t consider himself a bowling pro, but like Silvana, he had played several times. Not only here, but even before he became an Operator. His family was wealthy, so as a child, he frequently visited establishments offering bowling, billiards, roulette, and various other forms of guest entertainment.
“I hope I’ll be as lucky here as I am at poker.” Louis smiled as the ball slipped from his fingertips.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
The three pins flew to the sides as he nodded deeply. He had one more try in the first frame and didn’t seem upset.
Sometimes, the number of pins a player knocked down with a roll wasn't as crucial as which specific pins they were.
A player might knock down eight out of ten pins, yet the two remaining could be standing opposite each other, at the extreme edges of the triangle formation.
This presented the most challenging scenario, requiring one of the two pins to be struck so it would then fall sideways and bring down the last one. Clearly, even with a high degree of skill, such an outcome could not be guaranteed.
As in any game or endeavor, bowling demands a touch of luck. This undoubtedly eased certain moments and could elicit a surge of positive emotions.
Adam narrowed his eyes, observing the remaining seven pins clustered in the center and on the right.
“Hmm, if the ball hits the center, it can knock them all down, right?” Adam pondered as Louis made his next roll.
The purple ball rolled down the lane, striking the two pins on the right, which in turn took down two more.
This left three pins in the center, and Louis had knocked down a total of seven, which was not a bad score.
“Alright, next time I’ll aim for the center,” Louis hummed.
Step!
Alexia stepped forward confidently, holding the heaviest ball in her hands.
“Pffft! You guys don’t know how to play. Watch how it’s done! I’m going to get a strike right now!”
The others exchanged glances as Alexia overexerted her strength, and her ball simply flew off the lane to the side.
“NO! Shit! My hand slipped! I swear!” She exclaimed.
