Max emerged from the Dimension of Time after thousands of years of intense practice, having refined the inheritance techniques Four Divine Beasts Manifestation, Ice God Hand, and Thousand Divine Swords to near mastery despite their demanding nature. As the Thirty Six Hall Grand Trial commenced, he joined thousands of disciples converging on the central hub of the Thirty Third Hall, blending into the tense atmosphere of anticipation. There, he reunited with Carl, ranked fourth among outer disciples, and Laura, ranked fifth, who introduced him to fellow high-rankers Simon, Drisco, and Flora, all at the peak of Rebirth Realm. Their conversation hinted at brewing tension, as the top three outer disciples—long vying for Elder Virelia's mentorship—neared arrival, resentful of Max's swift ascension as her direct disciple.

"I see." A wry smile crept across Max's face as realization washed over him. Though he hadn't foreseen events unfolding like this, deep down, he felt no real concern about it.

Elder Virelia had chosen him as her disciple on her own accord, and that fact alone filled him with gratitude. The views of the other disciples held no weight with him whatsoever.

Should any of them try to stir up issues regarding this, they alone would face the fallout.

For a bit longer, Max kept chatting with Carl and Laura, where they shared details about the standout talents from various halls and the status they enjoyed in the Black Dragon Palace.

Max paid close attention, etching every detail into his mind. As their discussion stretched on, disciples started flocking to the central area in greater numbers, the assembly growing thicker with each passing moment.

In mere minutes, the count of assembled disciples soared past ten thousand. This sight truly stunned Max. If the earlier gathering of over a thousand had caught him off guard, then beholding ten thousand in one vast hall rendered him utterly at a loss for words.

And this represented just one among the thirty-six halls. Should disciples from all thirty-six halls converge, what staggering numbers would emerge? Plus, these were merely outer disciples, excluding the inner and core ones.

The immense magnitude of the Black Dragon Palace hit him like a thunderbolt, forcing him to grasp the true enormity and might of this formidable stronghold.

"Heh, check it out. The top three have arrived." Laura remarked abruptly, gesturing toward a specific spot.

Max traced her gesture and quickly noticed three young disciples navigating through the throng.

Leading the group strode a man exuding arrogance, his stance and stare radiating an aura of supremacy, as if the entire world ought to yield to his path.

Trailing him closely was a woman with flowing black hair, her movements serene and refined, her bearing poised and elegant, forming a sharp departure from the swagger of the frontrunner.

Bringing up the rear was yet another youth, his face impassive, his demeanor steady and detached, seemingly untouched by the bustle surrounding him.

"The leader there is Dale Feling, who sits at third place among outer disciples." Laura whispered her explanation. "He hails from one of the Black Dragon Clan's seven primary families. The woman following is Jane Lumin of the Lumin Family, another of the seven main families. She's in second position. The guy at the end is Aden Holloway. Though he lacks ties to any of the seven main families, his power reigns supreme in our Thirty Third Hall. He claims the top spot among outer disciples."

Max observed the trio in silence and verified that their cultivation matched Carl and Laura's, each hovering at the Rebirth Realm's pinnacle. However, within the group, solely Aden Holloway stirred a slight unease in him, a quiet menace not born of overt presence but from a profound, tightly controlled depth.

"Are you the guy who claimed the Sword of the Sword Sovereign and got taken as Elder Virelia's disciple?" Dale advanced abruptly and confronted Max with haughty arrogance, his eyes piercing and brimming with clear contempt.

"What of it?" Max responded evenly, his face at ease.

"Nothing much." Dale scoffed with icy disdain. "It's simply that you don't seem worthy of either honor."

Max offered a faint smile. "Yet they picked me instead of you."

Dale's features twisted into a scowl immediately. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Max. Sure, they might acknowledge you, but in the Thirty Third Hall, I'm the authority here. As a mere first level Rebirth Realm disciple, act accordingly."

"Oh, I plan to," Max replied with a grin, then tossed in offhandedly, "But if that's true, how do you hold charge while ranking third?"

The instant Max uttered those words, Carl and Laura almost exploded with laughter. They quickly averted their gazes, shoulders shaking as they fought to suppress their mirth.

Dale's expression froze on the spot. A flicker of shame darted through his eyes, swiftly overtaken by boiling fury. No outer disciple had ever posed such a query to him before. It struck at a notorious sore point, one everyone avoided, and Max had trampled it boldly without pause.

"Max, count yourself fortunate this is a gathering," Dale growled through gritted teeth, his stare laced with poison. "Else I'd shatter your limbs right now."

Max merely chuckled, giving no further response.

That casual laugh only stoked Dale's wrath higher. Being dismissed so lightly after the jab made his temper flare wildly. He glared at Max with pure loathing, his mind swirling with dark schemes as he spun around. 'Better hope our paths don't cross in the trials,' he seethed inwardly before vanishing amid the masses.

"Watch out for Dale," Jane advised with a soft smile while gliding past Max. "He's incredibly petty and arrogant, so keep your guard up near him."

She then continued on her way.

Aden didn't bother looking at Max once. He moved by as though Max were invisible, his gaze remote and vacant, like his thoughts had drifted far beyond the scene unfolding nearby.

"You just had to poke Dale with that question," Laura sighed, shaking her head with a blend of humor and worry on her face. "He's bound to seek revenge on you now."

Carl, meanwhile, just grinned, obviously delighted by the exchange.

Max gave a nonchalant shrug. "Let him try. I'm not scared of him in the least."

Laura eyed him sharply, scrutinizing his look. "You come off so sure of yourself. Do you honestly believe you could take him down, or even handle us?"

Max flashed a cheeky grin, a spark of mischief in his eyes. "Who can say." He let out a light chuckle, evidently carefree.

Right as Laura prepared to press further, five silhouettes materialized high above the central hub, their arrival instantly captivating every disciple below.
