Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 1905: Sending medicine
Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
Having overcome the last hurdles, the green dots on the edges started marching toward the modest hill.
These forces made no effort to hide their approach. Once they had fully encircled the slope, they kept shifting positions restlessly. In the end, several key leaders clustered on the eastern side, clearly plotting their next moves.
Only an hour and a half remained before the Novice battlefield drew to a close.
"Spacing out? Scared?"
White Robe approached Ye Zhongming, giving a pat to this beacon of hope for his clan's resurgence, while letting out a quiet sigh inside.
He understood that the odds of defending this spot were slim at best.
The sole cause was the overwhelming number of foes arrayed against them.
Be it him, White Robe, or the entire Star-Eye Clan, despite their utmost efforts to shape outcomes in this Novice battlefield, none had foreseen how much the cosmic races valued the Novice standings—particularly amid grand occurrences such as the energy tide.
From a rough count alone, roughly three hundred seasoned fighters and around a thousand Novices now hemmed them in.
As for their allies? Just eleven seasoned warriors remained: Jie Su plus the pair from the Su Clan made three; Yisewei and one other added two; the Star-Eye Clan contributed White Robe and another, totaling two; and the Changxu Water Race brought three. The Luther People had fled earlier upon sensing the dire turn of events.
Things looked even grimmer among the Novices. Helsky and Jie Kui were among the eight badly injured. Though they had swallowed healing meds, their fighting strength was temporarily gone. Only nine could still grasp weapons and battle: Ye Zhongming, Ji Ruiguang, He, Mu Hanyi, the Mechanical Genius, and a few more.
"Just figuring out how many I can take down."
Confidence rarely faltered for Ye Zhongming, yet right now, doubt crept in. Without the protective array beneath his feet, the Cloud Peak King would undoubtedly be plotting an escape instead of standing firm.
"Haha, just take out as many as possible." White Robe spoke lightly, though deep down, he felt far from casual. He and Ye Zhongming stood as the top prospects to carry the Star-Eye Clan's legacy for years ahead. Losing them both here would doom the clan to extinction.
"You shouldn't have shown up," Ye Zhongming gazed at White Robe and remarked.
Guilt weighed on Ye Zhongming for White Robe's arrival. The man could have stayed away. Ye Zhongming would still confront this mess, and it would have been far bleaker. Yet White Robe had come, joining Jie Su, Yisewei, and the rest to shoulder the bulk of the burden, turning Ye Zhongming's utter hopelessness into a faint spark of possibility.
"That's not your call," White Robe grinned, then boasted, "Down there among the outsiders, I might not beat them all, but in this place, I dare say no one can escape my blade."
Ye Zhongming had full faith in that claim.
White Robe had held back his power, just as many others had. Beyond these confines, figures like Pei Cun and Jing Wunan outmatched him for certain reasons. But within this arena, victory hung in the balance, especially against a berserker like White Robe who threw everything into every clash; opponents gained no edge.
"Can you tap into that form again?" White Robe inquired abruptly. "If I'm right, that's the upgraded Double Poison Shadow, isn't it?"
Ye Zhongming gave a nod, replying, "Under normal conditions, no. But if I push through the pain, I can trigger it once. Still, it won't last long, and after, I'll be out of commission for at least an hour."
"Stamina drain?"
"Yeah."
White Robe heard this and nodded. With a subtle motion of his hand, he pulled a tiny box from his spatial gear and passed it to Ye Zhongming.
"This restores stamina right away. With it, could you pull it off twice?"
Ye Zhongming accepted it, his gaze lighting up.
Thanks to the Mountain King Crown and Earth Spirit, his body's natural recovery was already blisteringly quick. Yet the enhanced Double Poison Shadow demanded far too much, draining both mental energy and stamina. The mental side held up well—that was Ye Zhongming's forte; it'd take multiple uses to exhaust it. Stamina posed the real issue. Though his reserves were strong and few peers could match him, the toll was enormous.
Plenty of potions could replenish stamina, but any that worked instantly ranked as rare gems. This lone pill in the box would command a fortune in any market.
Armed with this, Ye Zhongming could indeed unleash the upgraded Double Poison Shadow two times in a row. And since the second activation would follow a full recharge, its might might surge even higher.
"You…"
"Next to what you bring in that state, my own output falls short. Once you 'transform,' you could handle three of me without breaking a sweat."
White Robe faced the truth head-on.
Maybe once they returned outside and his full power returned, he wouldn't dread that transformation as much. But in this space, he recognized plainly that the shifted Ye Zhongming was a devastating force. If sustained in that mode, he alone could methodically eliminate all three hundred seasoned warriors, rendering their aid unnecessary.
"Back when you crushed the Gurui Star Race, that skill you unleashed—did it have a cooldown?"
A voice rang out from behind the pair. They turned to see Yisewei standing there.
"Little Bai mentioned it to me."
To Ye Zhongming's puzzled look, Yisewei clung to White Robe's arm and beamed.
Little Bai...
Ye Zhongming ducked his head, rubbing his nose to stifle a chuckle.
Likely only Yisewei dared nickname the wild White Robe that way.
White Robe flushed a bit but stayed silent.
This time, Yisewei had braved the Novice battlefield to stand by him, even diving into this hopeless fray alongside. He would endure her calling him a fool if she wished.
Still, should they survive this ordeal, he needed to rethink their bond.
Ye Zhongming affirmed with a nod. The Earth Spirit's power did carry a cooldown. Sure, he could override it forcibly, but that would inflict severe damage on the tiny being. Its level would regress to infancy, and future evolution would become all but impossible.
"Here, take this." Yisewei tossed a small vial directly to Ye Zhongming. Inside swirled a clear, unremarkable fluid.
"Cooldown Elimination Liquid." The young heir of the Sheke Star started detailing it. "I have no idea about your ability's exact cooldown. But when you're ready to fire it off, sip from this. The longer the wait time, the more you'll need. Stop once the cooldown clears—you judge the amount."
White Robe and Ye Zhongming both froze at her words. If the stamina pill earlier was worth a king's ransom, this vial of liquid was beyond valuation.
Every fighter's ultimate move came with limits, namely cooldowns. Imagine chaining those peak assaults without pause; it would skyrocket their battle prowess!
Ye Zhongming paused briefly, then nodded and uttered, "Thank you."
Yisewei flashed a warm smile, slapped White Robe's shoulder, and teased, "Way more direct than you."
The man gave a sheepish grin and took the jab in stride.
Ye Zhongming observed as the duo stepped away for now, fully aware of the massive favor they had granted him.
He came closer too at that moment, grinning as he announced, "I've brought some medicine as well."
