Wizard: Starting With the Knights Breathing Method Chapter 2906: 590: Sauron’s Golden Finger

Previously on Wizard: Starting With the Knights Breathing Method...
Levi delved into a vast mithril deposit in the silver-white mountains of the Dark Ancient Tower, deploying his shadow army to mine relentlessly and awaken the slumbering Ancient White Dragon, Frost Wings Sethelde, a level 8 peak pure-blood guardian trapped by a mysterious limit. Overwhelmed by Levi's formidable forces and the illusory horde of ten thousand dragons, Sethelde submitted and joined the Dragon Palace, bringing its kin and a trove of treasures, including the rare Sun Refining Artifact known as the Silver Order. In the following months, the Hound and Jin uncovered further riches—a massive Tai Stone Mine yielding over 80 billion Aether Stones, a vein of level 9 ore rich in Heiger’s Gold, and the non-sequential artifact Thunder Dragon’s Heart—fueling Levi's ceaseless pursuit of ancient bounties across the Ninth Layer.

Resources hold the utmost importance, much like in fishing.

...

Time flew by.

Six months had elapsed.

Levi reached a frozen wasteland.

The icy winds roared fiercely, while Jin perched proudly on the hound, reveling in its triumph.

It had uncovered this valuable site; midway through the journey, Levi had already obtained a Sun Refining Artifact from the Frost Faction known as the [Frost God Chapter].

"Up to now, I've located the temples of the Father, Holy Mother, Lord of Storm, and Eternal Fire within the Ninth Layer.

Of the seven orthodox gods, the Snow Goddess, King of Ten Thousand Dragons, and the Star Beast are left, showing a somewhat more favorable stance toward Nora compared to the earlier four."

In the midst of the swirling snow, an icy temple emerged faintly.

Levi observed it steadily, then thrust the door wide open. No sense of threat came to him; the interior lay silent, with a withered form seated solitary on the elevated throne.

It possessed twelve wings as well, its icy crystal-like feathers having faded long ago. Its stature loomed large and robust, evoking in Levi the image of a colossal being.

Clutched in its grasp was a lengthy spear, surrounded by swirling divine radiance.

Truly, it was a divine weapon.

Levi's eyes narrowed sharply; this angel held a high rank. Even numerous intermediate gods lacked such a divine tool. Detecting no peril, he extended his hand to claim the armament.

Abruptly, the corpse shimmered with a subtle glow.

Its sealed eyelids parted, fixing a piercing gaze on Levi standing there.

"You've arrived."

For three hundred thousand years, it had remained voiceless; its tone rasped deeply and gravely.

Levi's eyes flickered, and he replied steadily:

"You expected my arrival?"

"Indeed, had you delayed further, the final remnant of divine power I preserved in this divine weapon would have vanished completely."

"What reason did you have to await me?"

"I obeyed the divine decree of my Lord, lingering here in death's grip. How many years have elapsed since the Frost Giant Ancestor's downfall?" it inquired.

"More than three hundred thousand years."

"Such an eternity."

"Your lord is the Snow Goddess?"

"Correct."

"Fascinating, it appears you chose to let Sauron confine you here. If my guess holds, prior to your ascension as a divine servant, you were once a Frost Giant."

"I am Olson, King of Giants."

"Thus, after the Ancestor of Giants' defeat by the gods, you Frost Giants turned against him in the end and aligned with the Snow Goddess?"

At the mention of 'betrayal', a chilling laugh escaped its voice:

"Giants prefer death on their feet over life on their knees; the notion of betrayal never suited our nature.

When we clashed with the gods and lost, the Ancestor of Giants fell, his mighty form carved up and devoured by the deities in a vain bid to seize the Frost Blood and bolster their God's Authority.

Yet supreme might isn't easily tamed by these false divinities. The Snow Goddess, who took the largest share of our ancestor's essence, has transformed beyond her former self.

Her mind was overtaken by the Ancestor of Giants ages ago. We are bold, dauntless, and mighty, yet no fools among us.

Facing defeat, we feigned allegiance, biding our time for the right moment. Hope for our revival lingers in the days ahead."

Levi stayed composed upon hearing this, as though he had foreseen it: "So the Ancestor of Giants lives on? Why share this with me?"

Olson responded:

"Because you serve as Sauron's backup scheme. My lord and Sauron forged a pact. After three hundred thousand years, with conditions aligned, we will rise once more to challenge the gods!"

Levi mulled this over silently, harboring doubts about Olson's full truthfulness.

He remembered the Frost Witch, who had gained the Ancestor of Giants' power and could suffer from his will's insidious influence.

The Ancestor of Giants appeared to pursue rebirth through possession, perhaps dividing his essence into two paths—one in the astral realm, the other in the mortal plane—not risking everything on a single throw?

A strategy born of sharp caution.

"Given that the Giants ally with Nora, why has your Church of Snow suppressed Nora since the Near Ancient era? Was it mere pretense?" Levi pressed.

"Of course, only by mimicking them could we evade suspicion from the astral realm. Sauron calls this the profound art of [Harmonizing with Light and Dust], merging seamlessly without drawing notice in the astral world."

Olson explained.

Now persuaded that Olson spoke honestly, Levi still felt a twinge of doubt and wandered the temple's confines.

Olson simply whispered to itself.

"No need for shock. A being who ascends to the Supreme Realm defies total annihilation; they sow safeguards throughout the Multidimensional Plane.

After the Giants' loss to the gods, they weren't wiped out entirely. Some yielded to the astral world, transformed into angels to serve it.

Others concealed themselves in a unique dimensional realm crafted by the Ancestor of Giants across the Multidimensional Plane, the [Ancestral God’s Land], multiplying in secrecy, shunning the world, awaiting vengeance's hour."

As Levi searched for treasures, he lifted his gaze and questioned:

"Where lies that domain?"

Olson concealed nothing from Levi.

"The gateway resides in the Land of Oblivion."

With those words spoken, it sealed its eyes once more.

"What next?" Levi probed.

Regrettably, Olson offered no reply.

Its final breath faded away, the divine corpse crumbled to dust, and solely the spear-like divine weapon tumbled to the floor with a sharp clang.

Levi retrieved it, spotting inscriptions in the Star Realm Language etched upon its surface.

"Shattered Jade."

This ancient divine relic's might rivaled the [Dusk Moon] closely; it had once been Olson's, the mightiest Angel Leader under the Snow Goddess.

Insights from the Shattered Jade Divine Spear flooded into Levi’s thoughts.

"This divine weapon serves as the key to the Giant Kingdom."

On the matter of the Snow Goddess's true alliance, Levi required further proof. In time, he discovered a azure ancient tome on a shelf inside the temple.
