Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1615 - 558: General Angerik (Part 2)

Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
Rein and the Federation Dawn Wizards unleashed a barrage of Fire Element Dawn Killing Moves on General Angerik, the ancient Goblin Corps Commander, weakening his protective black mist but failing to destroy him. Enraged, Angerik summoned mechanical velociraptors as subordinates, prompting Rein to deploy Steel Dragon Dorick to interrupt the demon and have the dragons handle the minions to avoid corruption. Sword Saint Terrio charged forward, but Rein intervened with his own Dawn Killing Move, 'Blade-toothed Disc,' slicing Angerik in half—yet black mist began seeping from the remains, rapidly reforming into a surging mass.

"Everyone, keep up the assault!" Rein shouted without delay.

As if sensing an imminent deadly blow, the dark fog coalesced more rapidly than during Rein's previous encounter in the jail, accelerating by around three-tenths.

Yet, thanks to Rein's timely warning, the Fire Element Dawn Wizards snapped into action at last, unleashing a barrage of five Dawn Killing Moves against the swelling mass of black mist.

"Hiss!!!"

A tormented screech echoed from the depths of the black mist, sharp and ear-piercing, as jagged dark talons clawed desperately from the inferno, only to be slowly devoured by the blazing fire.

The sight sent shivers racing down the spines of nearly everyone watching!

Once the flames had scorched the area for some time, filling the air with a foul reek, Rein's tense features finally eased, and he declared, "Okay, it's done for now!"

"Hiss~"

"We've finally taken it down!"

"Yeah, that was no simple task."

A heavy burden lifted from their hearts all at once!

Firing off Dawn Killing Moves one after another drained the five Fire Element Dawn Wizards greatly, and now beads of sweat dotted their brows, rendering them almost too spent to unleash even one more.

...

Victory had come, yet Rein couldn't shake a lingering unease deep inside.

After all, this foe proved far more challenging than the pesky Ancient Minotaur back in the prison.

It was easy to picture: if the third underground layer already posed such dangers, how dire would the fourth and fifth turn out to be?

Worse still, nothing guaranteed just a single 'King of Tyrannosaurs' lurked in the Ancient Goblin stronghold on that third layer.

Likely, more chieftains akin to Angerik commanded the higher ranks of Goblins there.

Put simply, the challenges ahead promised a string of grueling clashes.

Naturally, Rein's top concern remained selecting the ideal spot for his breakthrough.

"I suppose I'll have to venture further into the third underground layer, where the Fiend Demon might truly endanger even the Divine Incarnation," Rein mused inwardly.

As Rein lost himself in thought, Haleem approached with a mix of reluctance and shame on his face, speaking to Rein:

"Uh... Lord Rein, might you ask the Steel Dragon to switch its meal for now?"

What?

Rein glanced up and broke into a chuckle.

The Steel Dragon Dorick was devouring the 'King of Tyrannosaurs' corpse with gusto, which explained the troubled look from Haleem, director of the Federation Mechanical Research Institute.

As a premier war construct from the Ancient Goblins, the King of Tyrannosaurs served as a prime specimen for study. Armed with its schematics, the Federation Mechanical Research Institute could swiftly craft duplicates.

"Sure thing."

Rein gave a gesture to the Steel Dragon Dorick, who shot him a grudging glare before setting aside the King of Tyrannosaurs' husk and turning to munch on a Mechanical Velociraptor close by.

"My deepest apologies, Lord Rein. The King of Tyrannosaurs' body is simply invaluable. I'll prepare a special rare metal feast for the Steel Dragon shortly," Haleem offered with regret.

"Lord Haleem, please don't stand on ceremony," Rein replied, grinning.

Haleem's thoughtfulness shone through.

Truth be told, the Steel Dragon Dorick cared little for intricate wiring; its real craving lay in the precious metals embedded in the King of Tyrannosaurs' frame.

With Haleem, the Federation Mechanical Research Institute's leader, organizing a rare metal banquet, it would prove even more satisfying for the Steel Dragon Dorick.

"Fetch ten kilograms apiece of Mithril and Gold Essence, offer them to the Steel Dragon to sample and pick its favorite, then haul out the full reserves."

"But..."

The assistant researcher nearby appeared hesitant, aware that such minerals were scarce across the Federation, with limited yields overall. Allowing this beast to feast unchecked might...

"Follow my orders," Haleem commanded firmly, dismissing concerns with a flick of his wrist.

"Understood, sir." The researcher held his tongue and hurried off to obey.

...

In the meantime, several Dawn Wizards murmured among themselves, soon exchanging a few words with Terrio.

Moments later, Sword Saint Terrio approached, his brow furrowed in gravity, and stated, "Lord Rein, perhaps we should head back for now and plan carefully before tackling the next floor?"

They had all just beheld the Fiend Demon's might firsthand, Terrio included.

Though they'd overcome it in the end, the battle's intensity lingered, refusing to fade easily.

Never before had they faced adversaries of such caliber!

Ordinary Giant Beasts, especially those documented in old tomes or with exposed flaws, usually fell to a single fighter's efforts.

Yet against this Fiend Demon, it took five of them uniting, repeatedly deploying the Dawn Killing Move, to wear themselves down and slay just one.

And that ignored how they'd held back during the King of Tyrannosaurs skirmish, merely preserving strength from afar.

The psychological toll weighed heavily on their minds.

"Oh? Could the Federation muster additional powerhouses?" Rein probed back.

"Heh, Lord Rein, that's a jest. These five Fire Element Dawn Wizards represent the Federation's utmost in assembling such forces right now." Terrio managed a sheepish grin.

"Lord Terrio, unless the Federation plans to summon more elites, I recommend a short break before pressing on with our delve," Rein suggested calmly.

"Debating won't boost our strength; meanwhile, as the energy surge grows fiercer, the Fiend Demons in the Floating City Ruins will stir more vigorously, something I trust we've all observed."
