Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1604 - 554: Steel Dragon (Part 2)

Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
A massive Steel Dragon named Dorick emerged from the depths, its spiked form and blade-like wings marking it as a formidable metallic beast far surpassing the Black Dragon Metheus in defensive prowess. Intrigued by Rein's rare metal-infused sphere, Dorick demanded more as compensation for the disturbance, leading to a tense wager: if Rein and Metheus won the ensuing battle, Dorick would sign a binding contract. The clash began fiercely, with Metheus' claws scraping harmlessly against Dorick's unyielding hide while suffering deep gashes from its swift wings and a brutal tail strike that sent the black dragon reeling.

A resounding "Boom" resounded as it crashed down hard onto the earth more than a hundred meters off, raising a massive plume of dust!

The assailant proved to be the pointed spiked mace attached to the tip of the Steel Dragon's tail.

This left Metheus seething with rage, since enduring two brutal strikes right from the outset felt utterly disgraceful.

Yet, not everything turned sour from this strike, as it at last allowed Metheus to seize the chance and soar skyward.

"Hmm? It really took to the skies." Steel Dragon Dorick gazed at the Black Dragon climbing higher with a hint of astonishment and remarked.

In theory, such an impact ought to have stripped the foe of nearly all its fighting capability by now.

Metheus abruptly parted its jaws wide and unleashed a Breath attack toward the Steel Dragon beneath!

"Shadow Breath!"

A wedge of dark flames burst forth swiftly, engulfing sections of the Steel Dragon's evasive form.

"Sizzle sizzle!"

A unique erosive force stripped away the shine from a broad swath on the Steel Dragon's back, leaving it corroded like rust, which formed part of the abilities in Metheus' Shadow Intense Flame.

The Shadow Breath carried vast quantities of Negative Energy Particles.

"Damn!"

"Black Dragon, you've enraged me!"

"Atomic Breath!" The Steel Dragon Dorick ejected a radiant silver-white ray of light!

"Shadow Breath!"

In a flash, the two Breath assaults smashed into each other.

What?

Atomic Breath?

A spark of insight lit up in Rein's thoughts, grasping that the subtle energy surrounding the Steel Dragon's frame was radiation, tied to its long slumber amid Dark Steel Ore.

Right away, a way to sway the foe sprang to Rein's mind.

Still, right then, he needed to halt the ongoing clash.

"Roar!!!"

Rein swiftly shifted into a gigantic Dark Silver Dragon that materialized in the heavens.

"Particle Breath!"

Rein’s Breath deflected the two colliding energy surges aside.

Abruptly, three potent energy explosions struck the terrain, sending ripples everywhere without end, so much that the Beverly Mountains over a hundred kilometers distant could feel them plainly.

A vibrant orb of light abruptly shot upward from a spot within the peaks, moving at lightning-like velocity.

Once in the sky, the light orb halted sharply, seemingly assessing the exact source of the energy surge.

If anyone peered closely right then, they’d spot a woman within the vibrant light orb, possessing delicate and lovely traits, a voluptuous build, clad in a shimmering feathered gown topped with a multicolored feather headdress that lent an air of foreign allure.

Still, her profound gaze and imperial dignity made approaching her feel distant.

"It’s over there."

With those clear words spoken, the space next to her ripped open suddenly, a pale surge unfurled, and the colorful radiance dashed toward Rein’s conflict zone.

Moments afterward, a sharp sonic boom rang out across the area, showing her pace surpassed the speed of sound.

...

At that moment.

Witnessing Rein’s shift, Steel Dragon Dorick’s expression shifted, and it declared:

"Stop!"

"Human Wizard, we share no grudge, so the fight concludes now."

"Furthermore, the mighty Dorick will cease chasing your intrusion."

Is this a Steel Dragon? Feels more like a 'Soft Dragon.' Rein stood briefly dumbfounded.

"That’s it? And the bet?"

"The mighty Dorick refuses to bow to humans as those frail Five-Colored Dragons do." With that said, Steel Dragon Dorick began burrowing into the soil.

"Hold on, Dorick, I believe I know a way for you to boost your strength even more, far surpassing just consuming Dark Steel Ore and drawing in its power."

Rein uttered hastily.

"What! You’re not tricking me?" Rein’s statement slowed Steel Dragon Dorick’s burrowing pace clearly, and soon after, it reversed course, staring at Rein in shock.

"Of course."

After a quick reflection, Rein reached out his arm, and with dark silver metallic waves rippling out, a metallic sphere rapidly formed before his hand.

"Form a pact with me, and besides revealing that technique, I’ll provide three of these daily."

Dorick’s draconic eyes flicked repeatedly to the metallic sphere nearby, wavered for a second, then let out a sigh and replied:

"No fewer than five spheres daily, no, ten spheres, then I’ll accept."

"Three."

"Eight! At minimum eight spheres!"

"Three."

...

"Fine! Let’s forge the contract, human Wizard!" Steel Dragon Dorick uttered in a somewhat downcast tone.

In the end, the agreement between Rein and Steel Dragon Dorick came to pass, and simultaneously, the system notification rang:

[Ding! Host has contracted Steel Dragon, current number of contract pets (4/4)]

...

Once the system contract took hold, the very next moment, Dorick regarded Rein with an altered look, much like Black Dragon Metheus, free of any pride or resistance.

"Master!"

Rein gave a nod.

Yet, he right away recalled a complicated issue, for in the Dragan Empire, Dragon Knights bond with dragons singly, with no precedent for binding two dragons.

This implied that bringing Dorick along for a flight to the Imperial City would draw too much notice. But leaving Dorick behind meant heading to the Alliance...

"Dorick, are you aware of the other continent?"

Rein mulled it over briefly, then swiftly traced his fingers through the air.

Before long, a basic map crafted from Witchcraft Light hovered in the sky.

"Certainly, master, what task do you assign?"

"In three days, rendezvous here, alright?" Rein indicated the rough spot of Zetaya on the distant continent and stated.

"Understood, master, it won’t require three days, I’ve visited there previously, two days will suffice." Dorick inclined its head and responded.

"Perfect, we’ll link up at Zetaya." Rein grinned, nodding.

"As you wish, master."

...

When Wind Roc Queen Trist reached the scene, the confrontation had concluded, leaving her to merely glimpse the enormous silhouette of the Black Dragon vanishing away.

As if detecting Trist’s approach from behind, Rein glanced back with a faint grin, then stroked Metheus’s flank and commanded, "Time to depart, Metheus."

"Master, won’t you acknowledge this bird?" Metheus’s resonant voice boomed.

"Oh? Metheus, you’ve clashed with Wind Roc Queen Trist before?"

"Indeed, we battled once in the past, though that was centuries ago. Neither of us could overpower the other." Metheus replied with a touch of smugness.

"Got it."

"We’ll handle it another time, the moment isn’t suitable now, but chances will arise." Rein tapped the broad expanse of the Black Dragon’s back with a chuckle.

The instant Trist caught sight of Rein’s features, her frame went rigid. She’d never erase this fresh-faced youth, the very one who bested her skilled follower and seized the Divine Power Crystal of the Nether Sea Goddess, stalling her ascent to Demigod status temporarily.

"How did this fellow’s strength... surge ahead so rapidly!"

"And that Black Dragon earlier, if I’m correct, it’s a Black Dragon at the Extremely Old Dragon tier, scarce even among the Dragan Royal Family, hold on, it’s Metheus!"

"Exactly, it’s 'Mad Wings' Metheus!"

"But how did such a young fellow bind it?" Trist creased her fine brows, baffled beyond measure.

"An Extremely Old Dragon, not even an Advanced Wizard at Dawn Late Stage could reliably earn its loyalty, much less 'Mad Wings' Metheus!"

"Simply astonishing!"

Still, as Trist scanned the ground, her lovely eyes sharpened abruptly.

"This... it’s a Metallic Dragon?"

She had just caught Steel Dragon Dorick gradually sinking from view into the earth.

"Fortunately, the foe probably aimed to subdue this Steel Dragon but apparently failed." With that notion, Trist’s mood lifted considerably, her attractive visage easing into a subtle grin.

"That said, I must hasten my own progress, as events are turning increasingly turbulent."

"Plus, I won’t let this youth outpace me."

Trist, who carried the devotion of countless Wind Roc folk, could begin forging her nascent divine rank, though the endeavor held certain dangers, so she’d held back from that decisive move.
