Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1591 - 549: Mad Wings_3

Menia guided Rein to the lair of the formidable black dragon Mad Wings Metheus, second only to the Dragon King in combat prowess among four-color dragons. Awakening from slumber, Metheus sensed Rein's dragon bloodline and greeted Menia as the acting regent, but refused to partner with Rein as a Dragon Knight, citing a past tragedy with its previous rider Ignaz and Rein's apparent wizard physique, which lacked the durability to survive its berserk rages. Undeterred, Rein inquired about the requirements and, to the astonishment of both Metheus and Menia, transformed into a massive dark silver dragon of comparable size and purity, proposing a spar to prove his ability to control the dragon's fury.

Upon listening to Rein's statement, Metheus felt no rage; instead, he shook his head and responded:

"No need, I agree to become your giant dragon partner."

"Offspring of Dragon, let’s sign the contract." Metheus turned his head a bit and spoke to Menia at his side.

"Alright." Menia's grin widened even more.

The power of 'Mad Wings' Metheus couldn't be questioned; by forming a pact with it, not just Rein would boost his abilities, but the Empire would also secure a vital ally.

She removed an eye-like pendant from her pale neck, gripped it firmly, and started chanting the incantation swiftly.

Rein recognized this as the Royal Family's advanced witch relic, the 'Eye of the Giant Dragon.'

Before long, a strange and immense magical wave emerged within the Dragon Nest.

Right before Rein and the Black Dragon Metheus, lines of old script in spiritual language materialized from nowhere, outlining the basics of partnership, mutual support, combat side by side, and more.

Once he scanned the agreement details, Rein promptly lifted his finger and aimed it.

As a surge of spiritual energy flowed through, the spot for the contract holder beneath the floating ancient words now included 'Rein Carlan.'

Similarly, 'Mad Wings' Metheus lifted its enormous dragon talon, directing it upward, and a Dragon Clan true name far lengthier than Rein's showed up below the ethereal script.

In a flash, the pact was sealed!

Simultaneously, a system alert rang out:

[Ding! Host’s first contract with a giant dragon, current contracted pet count (3/4)]

[Ding! Host triggered the epic event of transferring to Dragon Knight—contract giant dragon!]

[Preconditions for transferring to Dragon Knight (Epic) are: First, contract with any giant dragon; second, Giant Beast Knight or related profession level 5 or above; third, Strength 50 points or above, Agility 50 points or above, Constitution 50 points or above, Spirit 50 points or above... current conditions met! Proceed to transfer to Dragon Knight (Epic)?]

[Note: Advancing to Dragon Knight (Epic) will replace the Beast Priest (Legendary) profession panel.]

Seeing this anticipated class change prompt, Rein felt a surge of joy and immediately selected "Yes!" without a second thought.

[Ding! Transfer successful!]

[Transfer to Dragon Knight (Epic)! Strength +5, Agility +5, Constitution +5, Spirit +5! Obtained Dragon Knight (Epic) core skill: Giant Dragon Partner (passive).]

Giant Dragon Partner (passive): As a Dragon Knight, when you and your giant dragon partner fight together, you will have the hidden battle aura boost, gaining full attribute enhancement effects.]

(Note: Fighting together means the distance between the two parties cannot exceed the range of consciousness sensing.)

Hmm?

Metheus suddenly sensed something off, like an extra element beyond the Dragon clan's offspring pact.

Yet, after probing deeper, it found nothing unusual and simply shook its head, dismissing the thought.

"Rein, congratulations." Menia, standing nearby, witnessed the moment, approached, and offered a gentle smile of praise.

"Thank you."

...

Minutes passed, and a massive black dragon emerged over the Imperial Palace, climbing into the vast skies before vanishing in a shimmer of hiding magic.

"Roar~~~"

Right then, the black dragon unleashed a resonant and mighty bellow.

Atop the expansive back of the black dragon Metheus, covered in shining dark scales, Rein stood beaming with a grin.

"Finally, I have become a Dragon Knight!"

...

Moments later.

Rein reached the office at Sword Holder Headquarters.

Even though he'd risen to Imperial Guardian, with the Empire fresh from turmoil, his Sword Holder responsibilities remained unchanged.

Olena, informed of Rein's arrival, showed up at the entrance quickly and bowed politely: "Lord, a confidential missive from the Imperial Palace Attendant has come, and additionally, Sect Leader Moria dispatched an urgent dispatch."

"The urgent dispatch from Sect Leader Moria was supposed to arrive two days ago, but the chaos in the Imperial City held it up."

"Oh?" Rein's eyebrows knitted as he accepted the document and started perusing it right away.

The message from the Imperial Palace Attendant didn't press him, since Menia had already shared its contents—a chart pointing to a possible Steel Dragon lair.

"They've uncovered a concealed base of the Tutkash School? Surround it without striking... await my orders. Sect Leader Moria appears quite prudent." Rein sighed in relief after reading and commented.

Though he'd abandoned 'Destroyer,' Graham lay gravely wounded from his assault, and Evil God Nael Breccan's dual incarnations were destroyed, foes could still turn to extreme ploys or odd strategies in conflict.

Moria proved wise and careful, opting only to surround the site with forces.

"Lord, is the matter grave?"

"It's under control, though some losses occurred."

"Looks like I'll have to head to the Shirendil Plateau to wipe out this Tutkash School and its ties to Evil God Nael Breccan for good."

"If not, as the energy tide surges grow, the power of summoned avatars could rise even higher."

Quickly, Rein resolved his decision.

"Lord, shall I prepare a swift aerial vessel for you?"

"Hold on, from now on, unless I say so directly, no need to set one up for me."

"Hmm?" Olena blinked, showing a touch of bewilderment.

Yet as she trailed Rein outside, soon a potent aura pressed down, and though nothing visible appeared, Olena felt an instinctive dread stirring inside.

As Rein vaulted onto Metheus's back, the grand form of 'Mad Wings' briefly revealed itself to Olena via the cloaking spell.

"Gasp~ it's so big!" Olena instinctively covered her mouth and gasped.

"Has Lord Rein formed a pact with a giant dragon?"

"Congratulations, Lord Rein."

"Mm, thanks, Olena. I'm heading out now." Rein gave a small nod and a warm smile.

Then, Rein tapped Metheus's back, and amid a rush of fierce winds, the pair of man and dragon swiftly vanished from Sword Holder Headquarters.
