Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1528 - 526: The Death
Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
"Who?"
Shocked expressions crossed the faces of the four as they scanned their surroundings!
In the instant that followed, the Imperial Marquis O’Lence and the two other Crystallization Wizards stared in horror.
From a spot that had been completely empty, a bizarre hand materialized abruptly behind the armored knight!
The armored knight's hairs rose instantly, a chill gripping his heart.
He detected an icy stare from behind, reminiscent of a supreme hunter's gaze, and the terrified glances from the trio nearby only intensified that dread.
Yet, even as he attempted to twist away, an iron-like grip clamped onto his neck from the rear. The armored collar warped and buckled like flimsy paper.
"Creak!"
With the armored collar warping and buckling.
A searing agony exploded in his neck, his view skewed sideways by ninety degrees, then faded into haze, before total blackness swallowed him.
"Don’t move, whoever moves dies," Rein declared, emerging as though from a hidden dimension.
The Imperial Marquis O’Lence along with the two Crystallization Wizards had planned to flee in different directions, but Rein’s command halted them stiffly.
After all, Rein had slain a Titled Knight in a flash upon showing up, an utterly frightening feat!
Rein flung the knight's limp, neck-snapped corpse to the floor without a care.
Right then, the Crystallization Wizard who had earlier boasted about claiming the barbarian girl clung to a slim hope, summoning three whirling earth-yellow barriers around his form before bolting toward the window like a launched bolt, yanking an item from his robe.
But the very next second, his eyes bulged in disbelief!
For Rein, who ought to have lingered behind, had inexplicably positioned himself at the window; the wizard's charge slammed straight into him.
This turn froze his heart solid!
Even as he steeled himself to draw a scroll for a last-stand battle.
"Slurp!"
A finger glowing with dark silver radiance pierced through the earth-yellow barrier in a blink, jabbing right at the Crystallization Wizard’s brow.
The next instant saw all his movements halt abruptly!
The remaining two earth-yellow barriers, deprived of their power source, crumbled into heaps of dust that sprinkled down, as his frame toppled rearward, crashing with a heavy "thud," his limbs jerking faintly now and then...
Imperial Marquis O’Lence and the surviving Crystallization Wizard beheld the sight, sweat pouring coldly from their brows.
A Third Level Talent shield from a Crystallization Wizard failed to hold against one strike before death claimed him?
How was such a foe to be confronted?
What sort of near-instant relocation power did Rein wield?
Escape seemed impossible!
A whirlwind of frantic ideas swirled through their thoughts!
Though each possessed hidden witch artifacts and scrolls, against such a vast gap in might, those items proved useless, as their fallen ally had just vividly shown!
"Rein... Lord Rein, perhaps a misunderstanding has arisen between us, and this wasn't my doing, it was Duke Drum, he orchestrated the entire affair..."
Imperial Marquis O’Lence rushed to clarify, only for Rein to cut him off with a casual gesture.
"Imperial Marquis O’Lence, I reached the Imperial City just this morning. Why do you suppose the Drum family withheld news of my arrival from you?" Rein held back from striking, posing the question steadily while eyeing the strained composure of O’Lence.
Rein’s remark pierced Imperial Marquis O’Lence’s heart like a sharpened dart.
"It must... it must be that the Drum family lacked the chance to... inform me." Imperial Marquis O’Lence paled drastically, still convinced of the alliance between the Drum and O’Lence houses.
"Hehe, actually, the Empire’s elite learned last night that Prince Menia and I were en route home." Rein offered a faint smile as he revealed this.
This revelation shattered the last of Imperial Marquis O’Lence’s calm!
"What!" Marquis O’Lence appeared dazed, refusing to accept it.
In a flash, as a veteran noble, he pieced together the full picture.
No wonder...
No wonder the Drum family’s group never showed up!
He, and indeed the whole O’Lence lineage, had been cast aside by Duke Drum the second Rein’s return became known.
"Hold on, Lord Rein, slaying me would drag you into needless chaos, wouldn't it?" As Rein advanced slowly amid the threat of doom, Imperial Marquis O’Lence's panic surged.
"Oh? What sort of chaos?"
Rein regarded him idly, as if to say, 'Go on, let's see what you come up with.'
"Lord Rein, Earls and higher rank as the Empire's high nobles; even for law violations, judgment falls to the Elder Council. Dispatching an Imperial Marquis would stir major repercussions."
"I offer all the O’Lence family’s riches, and I vow no revenge from the O’Lences."
"No thanks, the chaos you describe poses no issue for me." Rein shook his head while replying.
"Thus, Imperial Marquis O’Lence, goodbye!"
"Wait, I'm prepared to..." Marquis O’Lence blurted desperately, trying to add more.
But the moment after.
The Hardened Essence Gold in Rein’s grasp morphed swiftly into a thrusting blade, driving deep into the imploring Imperial Marquis O’Lence’s forehead!
