Inside the opulent second-floor study of the Drum Duke Mansion.
“Hahaha! That Rein is truly far too arrogant and lawless! Now that he has been crushed and seized by the Avatar of the Nether Sea Goddess, he will never be able to return to the Empire, even if he manages to cling to life!”
“It is a shame about Prince Menia, though...” Upon receiving the intelligence, the Drum Duke slammed his hand against the mahogany desk. His face was flushed, radiating pure joy and excitement.
It was not that he lacked composure, but rather that this involved his son, Greenwood, who had been slain by Rein!
He had once believed that avenging his son was a hopeless dream, considering how Rein’s power had increased at a terrifyingly rapid pace. Yet, a routine update had unexpectedly brought such marvelous news.
“Duke, it can be said that Young Master Greenwood’s great grudge has finally been settled!” The new butler standing nearby offered a smiling compliment.
“No, this is far from enough!” The Drum Duke replied, shaking his head as he forced his excited emotions to settle into a cold focus.
“Conduct an investigation into every individual and organization that previously surrendered to Rein. I intend to purge them one by one, and then I will completely exterminate his entire family!”
“Uh... Duke, his family appears to have taken up residence in the Imperial City under the specific protection of the Imperial Swordsmen. Furthermore, wouldn't acting so soon be too conspicuous...”
“Then we shall begin with his forces first. There is no rush regarding his family; we can take our time and wait until the public gradually forgets him,” the Drum Duke said, a cruel sneer twisting his features.
“Additionally, make sure to notify Marquis Orens. His household had prior conflicts with Rein and also suffered the loss of their shares in the Mingster Branch of the Axon Auction House.”
“Praise the Duke; your decisions are always the wisest,” the butler flattered.
...
Deep beneath Reef Island.
Beside the Magma Lake of the subterranean volcano.
In truth, Menia had already regained consciousness when Rein had carried her a short while ago.
However, feeling Rein’s warm breath against her and sensing something beneath her ample hips, Menia found herself completely at a loss as to how to handle the situation.
In fact, after Rein had separated her consciousness again and returned it to her physical body, she didn't know how to confront a man who was privy to almost all of her secrets.
She was a woman, and the person who held her secrets was a man.
A young man of immense talent who also possessed the Multi-Headed Dragon Bloodline.
Because Rein possessed a system, he did not actually have the Multi-Headed Dragon Bloodline, only the 'Multi-Headed' ability. However, Menia had no way of knowing this; judging solely by appearances, she naturally assumed Rein carried the Multi-Headed Dragon Bloodline.
For a fleeting moment, Rein reminded her of the one she had been infatuated with during her youth.
After all, tragedies like Romeo and Juliet tend to leave the deepest, lifelong impressions.
This held true for Menia; she had never been able to move past that emotional hurdle, yet in this moment, it felt as though she saw her heart's former Romeo in him.
Thus, when faced with Rein’s boldness—and even that kiss—Menia was unsure of the proper way to react.
Should she refuse?
Instinctively, it seemed she could not bring herself to say no.
As for... agreeing?
The age gap between her and Rein was simply far too vast...
Menia’s mind wandered for a long time before she finally managed to pull her thoughts together and re-enter a state of deep meditation.
On the other side, Rein was naturally oblivious to Menia’s internal struggle.
Taking advantage of the time while Menia was meditating, he first reviewed the Goblin Engineering knowledge he had forcibly memorized. Then, he approached the exposed ore embedded in the volcanic rock wall.
“Boom!”
Rein struck out with a light punch, shattering the surface of the ore. The dark grey rock layer, which had been crystallized by the high-temperature magma, was incredibly dense, but it was naturally no match for Rein’s strength.
“Hey, is this Black Iron Ore? And a rich deposit at that!”
While different standards exist for defining rich deposits, the Black Iron Ore here had a purity of over 60%, which would be recognized as high-grade in any mine.
After a quick thought, Rein pressed his hand—now glowing with a thick, dark silver light—against the meter-long protrusion of Black Iron Rich Ore on the wall.
Under the radiance of Rein’s palm, the metallic black iron within the ore unexpectedly began to seep out like liquid mercury, rapidly coalescing into a sphere within his hand.
But he didn't stop there.
Since Black Iron Ore does not contain only black iron, but also traces of other metals like copper and tin, four other metal spheres of varying sizes and colors formed in Rein’s palm alongside the black iron ball.
These were balls of copper, tin, silver, and gold.
This was an application of the abilities granted to a Fourth Level Dawn Wizard. His extremely high affinity for metal element particles combined with the surging spiritual power of a Dawn Wizard allowed him to achieve this with ease.
While he could perform such a feat at the Crystallization Wizard level, it had been exhausting and limited to one metal at a time. Now, it was as effortless as breathing or drinking water.
“Boom!”
Before long, a sphere of pure black iron weighing several hundred kilograms was refined and set before Rein, followed by the four smaller metal spheres dropping to the ground.
Rein glanced at the five metal balls and then at the hundred or more ore deposits protruding from the wall, his expression becoming thoughtful.
