Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1501 - 516: Ancient Sea Beast Glasers

Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
Following the massive explosion that claimed the life of Red Queen Menia, Pope Egil and the Sea God Sect arrive at the site to find no trace of the Nether Sea Goddess or Rein. Believing Rein may be severely injured and hiding, Egil orders a desperate search of the island while his forces engage the Imperial fleet and gathering Federation vessels. As the battle lines stretch across the sea and the search yields no results, the arrival of the powerful Federation warrior Tiro forces the Sea God Sect to reconsider their position.

The arrival of the Federation’s elite powerhouses was the final pressure that forced Egil to reconsider. Rather than maintaining his hold on the island to continue the search, he prepared to command a full retreat. However, before the order could be given, a Flying Fish Knight descended swiftly, bowing low to deliver a message:

"Pope, Vice Pope Meck has arrived."

"Lord Meck managed to unseal the colossal beast Glasers from the Sealing Gate. It is currently positioned roughly five nautical miles from our location."

"Excellent! Haha, it seems our Lord truly smiles upon us!" Egil, the Pope of the Sea God Sect, couldn't restrain a triumphant burst of laughter.

Behind him, the high-ranking Evil Sorcerers felt a wave of relief wash over them at the news.

While the Federation Sword Saint was a terrifying opponent, the true might of the Sea God Sect was far greater than what was currently visible. Had their two epic-level leaders not been occupied exploring various ruins and Sealing Gates, the Empire Delegation would likely have been wiped out instantly.

This entire situation had been an oversight.

Once they had secured the remains of the ancient mermaid princess Niruela to serve as a vessel for their Goddess’s descent, they assumed their victory was guaranteed and risks were non-existent.

"So, the dreaded ancient Sea Beast known as 'Grathes the Smoldering Eel' is free? Haha, marvelous. It shall serve as the perfect test for that Federation Sword Saint standing in our path."

"Indeed, with Lord Meck’s arrival, there is no longer any reason to withdraw."

"Quite right. This is the ideal moment to show the Federation the true power of our sect."

The Evil Sorcerers began to converse with renewed vigor.

Grathes was a prehistoric eel of monstrous proportions, distinguished by the purple markings across its hide. These patterns were actually natural conduits for dense, high-energy electrical currents. When it attacked, it did not merely knock its victims unconscious; it surged with enough electricity to ignite them, reducing enemies to piles of ash.

This terrifying trait earned it the title of the 'Smoldering Eel.'

It was also known for its insatiable hunger; ancient records claim it could swallow grey whales over ten meters long in a single gulp.

In the oceans of antiquity, no large sea creatures dared to enter the territory of Grathes. Its reputation for horror was rivaled only by the 'Leviathan Giant Whale.'

Though its power had inevitably waned after ages of imprisonment, the Evil Sorcerers remained confident that it possessed more than enough strength to slaughter a Sword Saint.

...

Meanwhile, on Sword Saint Terrio’s side.

He made short work of the Flying Fish and Manta Knights the Sea God Sect had deployed to stall him. Without wasting a second, he sped toward Dragon Knight Reginald and the battered remains of the Empire’s aerial fleet.

"Crown Reginald, where are Prince Menia and Lord Rein?" Terrio asked, his voice thick with concern.

By a twist of fate, Terrio had traveled north from Zetaya two days after his last meeting with Rein. However, his journey was interrupted by urgent reports of a disastrous exploration of the Floating City Ruins led by the Military Department, which had resulted in heavy casualties.

This shocking news forced Terrio to halt his progress.

Soon after, a missive arrived from Vice Speaker Bertrand on behalf of the Federation Congress. After weighing his options, Terrio decided to return to Zetaya to address the Vice Speaker in person.

But before that meeting could take place, word reached him that the Empire Delegation had fallen into a massive ambush by the Sea God Sect in the coastal waters. Pushing his body to its limits, Terrio rushed to the scene.

Despite the gap in their ages, he felt a profound bond with Rein. He held a deep respect for Rein’s formidable Cultivation and his character.

However, the devastation Terrio found upon arrival was far worse than he had anticipated.

"Prince Menia has likely... fallen in battle. As for Lord Rein, his current status is unknown..." Reginald spoke with a heavy, pained voice.

Even for a man as disciplined as Sword Saint Terrio, the news felt like a physical blow to his heart!

"What!!"

"Prince Menia is dead? Are you certain of this?"

"I did not see it with my own eyes, but that final, devastating wave of Fire Element witchcraft must have been Prince Menia’s final act after being mortally wounded. I can see no other explanation," Reginald replied, his head shaking slowly.

Reginald went on to explain his reasoning, and Terrio listened, nodding with a somber, dark expression.

"Sigh... this is a catastrophe..." Terrio let out a weary breath.

The Federation and the Empire had only just entered a promising era of cooperation. Now, the Empire Delegation had been decimated by the Sea God Sect right on the Federation's doorstep, and the Red Queen Menia was dead.

Even if the Sea God Sect was responsible, how would the Empire see it?

Would they believe the Federation was playing a double game, pretending to be allies while secretly helping cultists murder the Empire's strongest figures?

Beyond the politics, Terrio felt a genuine sense of loss for Menia. To see a figure of such legendary beauty and grace perish here was a tragedy.

Nevertheless, the fact that Prince Menia and Lord Rein had held out so long against the avatar of the Nether Sea Goddess and the full force of the Sea God Sect was a testament to their incredible power!

"And what of Lord Rein? You say his fate is unknown? Has no one found him?" Terrio asked urgently.

"We have not recovered Lord Rein’s body. My suspicion is that he is hiding somewhere, nursing severe injuries. He is likely somewhere on the island ahead of us."
