Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1470 - 505: Secrets of the Ruins (Part 2)
Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
"Boom!"
With the speed of a lightning bolt, Rein suddenly lunged forward, his kick connecting squarely with his foe and launching them into the air. He wasted no time, following up with a searing Fiery Breath from the Red Dragon’s Head.
"Hiss~"
The adversary writhed in agony while suspended in mid-air, its scythes swinging wildly as it roared. However, it seemed completely helpless against the invisible, scorching heat of the flames.
"Clang!"
Just as the blaze began to die down, a massive dragon claw burst through the fire, delivering a heavy, hacking blow once more!
"Crack!"
In a desperate attempt to defend itself, the Black Mist Claw Monster raised a scythe to parry. However, having been softened by the intense Fiery Breath, the black blade could not withstand the sheer force of Rein’s dragon claw and snapped instantly under the pressure.
The impact slammed the opponent down onto the metallic floor of the corridor.
"Void Breath!"
Completing his triple combo, Rein unleashed a Void Breath before charging forward. He targeted the Black Mist Claw Monster as it struggled on the ground, striking it repeatedly with a dual-claw assault from both sides!
From that point on, the outcome of the battle was certain!
After Rein bombarded it with several more breaths, the Black Mist Claw Monster’s roars finally ceased. Its limbs curled inward, leaving its form looking like a shriveled, desiccated infant.
"Snap!"
Rein delivered a final, crushing stomp, causing the opponent’s withered remains to shatter into fragments like brittle coal!
"Is it finally dead?"
"Whew~~"
Rein exhaled a long breath. He had expended three attribute points during the encounter, effectively replenishing his stamina three times over.
While the ancient dragon form was undeniably powerful and significantly boosted his combat capabilities, it also drained his physical energy at a much faster rate.
At that moment, Rein’s split wounds began to knit together rapidly. His clash with the Black Mist Claw Monster had not left him unscathed.
Before the creature was destroyed, wisps of black smoke had latched onto his injuries like a freezing virus, stalling his body’s natural regeneration. However, with the enemy defeated, the dark mist began to fade away quickly.
"No drop like a Divine Power Crystal from this thing?"
Rein didn't rush to scavenge the human wizard’s corpse. Instead, he waited for his injuries to finish healing while he stood there, frowning in contemplation.
He had initially wondered if the black mist was an incarnation of an Evil God. If that were the case, his previous experiences suggested the system should have triggered a prompt to absorb the energy after its defeat.
Curiously, despite killing this entity—which Rein had dubbed the Black Mist Claw Monster—no such absorption prompt appeared.
However, the bounty of Golden Skill Points remained substantial; that single fight had earned Rein 196 Golden Skill Points.
"It seems this opponent wasn't a divine avatar, but some other kind of malevolent entity? Or perhaps a strange phenomenon birthed from Divine Power?"
"That would explain why the system couldn't absorb it," Rein mused quietly.
Still... these were only guesses.
Furthermore, having felt the true strength of his opponent, Rein dismissed the notion of descending to the next level for further exploration.
In his estimation, the monster's power had eclipsed the combined strength of the Sword Saint Terrio and the Water Element Dawn Wizard Hernandez.
It was easy to predict that as the black mist thickened further down, and monsters became more common, the level of danger would become overwhelming.
Rein shook his head, deciding to stop overthinking the matter.
He approached the wizard’s body but stopped a few meters away. Exercising caution, he used the Metal Morphing Spell to create a thrusting sword, using it to poke the remains several times.
Once he was certain there was no hidden threat, Rein leaned down and began a quick search of the corpse.
He soon discovered a pendant hanging around the neck of the deceased.
It consisted of a delicate gold chain and a rhombic crystal. Sensing no magical fluctuations, Rein concluded it wasn't a powerful witch artifact.
After a moment's thought, he tucked it away and continued his search.
This time, his hand brushed against a hard, rectangular object tucked into the inner pocket of the wizard's robes. He pulled it out to find a black diary that looked strangely familiar.
"Huh? This material is nearly identical to the leather diary I saw in the safe at the Valziger School." Rein’s eyebrows shot up, a sense of satisfaction washing over him.
"Could this be the Sect Leader himself?"
Even though the area was dangerous, Rein decided to take a quick look.
He flipped rapidly to the final pages of the journal:
"...Damn it, I don't know if anyone will ever find this diary, but regardless, I must record this..."
"To whoever finds this, I am likely long dead by the time you read these words."
"...But even if I could go back, I would still choose to come here! Beyond the mechanical achievements of the Ancient Goblins, there is a secret known to only a select few!"
"A secret of immense value to me and every other Metal Series Wizard!"
"The truth is, the Ancient Goblin Empire was the original birthplace of the Steel Heart Meditation Method!"
"Which means, if you want the complete version of this Advanced Meditation Method, you have to find it here. Of course, if you are from another school or are not a wizard at all, I implore you to spread this information, or even sell it."
"Believe me, any Metal Series Wizard would gladly pay a price that would leave you more than satisfied for this secret!"
