Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1469 - 505: The Secret of the Ruins

"Clang!!!"
Following a violent collision, both combatants recoiled, putting more than ten meters of distance between them.
The Black Mist Monster dug its lower talons into the metallic floor, carving deep grooves into the surface to kill the momentum of the impact.
Rein also fell back two steps, swiftly steadying his posture.
Utilizing his three sets of dragon eyes, he scanned his foe, searching for a vulnerability.
To his frustration, he found none!
Based on their brief struggle, this Black Mist Claw Monster outclassed every Fierce Species and Dragon Descendant Rein had ever faced in terms of raw power, agility, and physical resilience.
Furthermore, the creature possessed a roar capable of mental interference and a dark mist attack that mirrored a Dragon Breath.
It was a versatile killer, lethal at both close quarters and a distance, seemingly devoid of any glaring flaws.
What about its susceptibility to various schools of witchcraft?
Rein lacked the time for a thorough investigation.
However, fire energy appeared to have a slight advantage.
Having just unleashed two different types of breath attacks, Rein noted that his Fiery Breath was notably more effective at wounding the beast than his Void Breath.
This indicated that high-level fire element witchcraft might be the key to securing a kill.
"A vulnerability to the fire element?"
The problem was Rein's lack of expertise in that field; he hadn't mastered any high-tier fire spells. Deploying First or Second Level fire witchcraft in a high-stakes duel like this would be a waste of effort.
"If that's the case, it is the ideal time to test my latest form."
Rather than feeling dread, Rein’s dragon eyes flickered with a quiet thrill. He hadn't yet tested the Sixth Form granted by his improved bloodline concentration.
Since the corridor was too cramped for a full transformation into an ancient dragon, he opted for a partial manifestation.
"Sixth Form!"
At Rein's roar, his dragon scales darkened into an obsidian hue that rivaled the shade of the Black Mist Monster.
His claws expanded and sharpened, reaching dozens of centimeters in length and shimmering with a lethal, icy luster.
Across his partially transformed frame, veins pulsed like writhing worms, thickening as his muscle mass surged.
"So this is what a thirty percent boost in strength and agility feels like?"
Rein could feel a volcanic power thrumming through his draconic body.
"Bang!"
He pushed off, and the magically reinforced metal floor buckled like wet clay under his feet, leaving a meter-wide crater that hissed with heat.
Propelled by that massive force, Rein lunged toward his target.
The air in the narrow hall shrieked as it rushed past his transformed silhouette.
The Black Mist Monster was caught off guard by Rein's sudden burst of speed. Before it could dodge, a titanic claw descended like a lightning strike.
"Zzz!"
A cascade of sparks erupted!
Facing the power of the ancient dragon form, the monster’s right flank—defended by two scythe-like limbs—was shredded. The impact sent the creature flying!
Rein did not pause his assault.
"Roar!!!"
His Red Dragon Head locked onto the tumbling Black Mist Claw Monster and unleashed a Fiery Breath!
A concentrated sphere of flame erupted from his maw, expanding into a meter-wide cone of destruction that swallowed the enemy whole.
"Hiss hiss!"
Trapped in the air, the monster shrieked in pain as the flames scorched it.
The force of the Fiery Breath pinned it against the ceiling of the passage, and it crashed to the ground only after the fire dissipated.
Rein observed that the creature's black exterior had shifted from a scale-like texture to a softened, liquid state, venting plumes of acrid black smoke.
Furthermore, the fire damage seemed to have physically shrunken the opponent’s mass.
"This is working!"
"I need to finish this now!"
Rein refused to give his foe a moment to recover.
With a blur of motion, he charged again.
The Black Mist Claw Monster scrambled up to meet him; clearly, Rein’s strikes were damaging but hadn't reached a fatal threshold yet.
"Clang! Clang! Zzz!"
Two black shadows—one massive, one smaller—clashed repeatedly down the corridor. Sparks showered the area as dragon claws met monster talons, grinding against the metal walls and floor.
The screeching of metal on metal echoed through the air alongside the constant flashes of light.
Rein was certain that neither Sword Saint Terrio nor Dawn Wizard Hernandez would have survived an encounter with this beast.
The monster's shape shifted once more; its midsection narrowed while its shoulders broadened to support its scythes, resulting in a visible increase in its combat stats.
Though the improvement was only about ten percent, it was clear the monster was evolving its biology to counter Rein's newfound power.
However, Rein’s current strength seemed to exceed the monster's adaptive threshold. Despite its increased speed and power, the creature remained pinned in a defensive struggle.
Under Rein’s relentless, heavy strikes, the monster’s twin obsidian scythes began to vibrate violently, showing the first faint signs of structural failure.
