Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1457 - 500: Fierce Battle with 7 Demon Statues (Part 2)
Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
The nightmare was far from over!
The goblin corpse draped in a white lab coat moved with purpose. After sparking the Sword and Shield Demon to life, it sprinted toward the right, extending its hand toward another massive Demon Statue equipped with metallic claws that lay dormant on the floor.
"This is bad! We have to put a stop to him!" Haleem yelled, his voice shaking with fear.
"Lord Rein, you deal with these three; I'm going to eliminate that corpse!" Sword Saint Terrio announced, his expression darkening as he spoke in a low, grim tone.
Rein opened his mouth to reply, but Terrio had already launched himself forward like a projectile fired from a bow.
Among the group, Sword Saint Terrio possessed the highest natural speed. Unless Rein utilized his Bloodline Transformation, Terrio was undoubtedly the best candidate for a swift assassination strike.
However, an ominous feeling washed over Rein. The design of the Sword and Shield Demon appeared peculiar, particularly its slightly distended abdomen, which looked as though it housed some sort of internal mechanism.
"Whoosh!"
Terrio moved like a bolt of lightning, weaving through the air. In less than two seconds, he had already bypassed the defensive line of the first Dual Sword Prototype.
Suddenly, the Double Hammer Prototype seemed to detect Terrio’s intent. The massive six-barrel Gatling Energy Cannon embedded in its chest roared to life, unleashing a hail of fire at the approaching saint.
"Thud thud thud!"
A torrential downpour of pale blue energy projectiles rained down upon Terrio.
Yet, Terrio’s agility as a Sword Saint was undeniable. With a sudden burst, he shifted to the right. The stream of energy bullets pursued him like the spray from a high-pressure hose, but it failed to land a single hit.
"Humph! Is this the best you can do..."
Terrio surged with even more speed, successfully breaking through the Double Hammer Prototype’s suppression.
But in the next heartbeat, before his internal triumph could manifest as a grin, his body came to a violent, grinding halt!
"A Gravity Field?!"
It was revealed that the third active Prototype, in addition to its sword and shield, was equipped with a gravity-altering device within its midsection.
During that split-second hesitation in Terrio's movement, the energy barrage from the Double Hammer Prototype behind him caught up, screaming through the air.
Terrio was forced to abandon his charge and pivot into a defensive stance.
Simultaneously, the Gatling gun in the chest of the Sword and Shield Prototype—the one projecting the Gravity Field—began to howl.
"Thud thud thud!"
Caught in a pincer attack from both front and back, Sword Saint Terrio was suddenly slammed by several high-impact energy shots.
"Boom!"
With a muffled groan, Terrio was knocked backward and to the side.
Although the protective witchcraft provided by Hernandez shielded him from physical injury, his face twisted in frustration. The white-coated goblin corpse had already succeeded in powering up the fourth giant Demon Statue.
"Damn it!"
Even the usually refined Sword Saint Terrio found himself swearing under his breath.
Having missed that critical window of opportunity, the peril of their situation was escalating rapidly!
He was trapped in a stalemate, torn between retreating to help his comrades, attempting to destroy a Demon Statue, or trying to push forward again.
The reality, however, was that the combined interference of the Demon Statues—especially the oppressive weight of the Gravity Field—made a breakthrough nearly impossible. With the enemy activating yet another machine, the odds of success were plummeting.
"Lord Terrio, fall back!" At that moment, Rein’s voice reached Terrio’s ears.
Hearing Rein’s calm and steady tone, Terrio didn't hesitate or question the order; he immediately pivoted and retreated.
Rein had once again triggered his Domain-class Dawn Killing Move, "Steel Forest." The metallic flooring beneath the Dual Sword and Double Hammer Prototypes softened into a liquid-like metal swamp.
The massive, heavy Prototypes began to sink into the mire, their mobility severely hampered.
This opening allowed Terrio to return to the safety of the group without further incident.
"Lord Terrio, allow me to take over!"
Once Terrio was back in formation, Rein shared a few brief instructions and immediately bolted toward the enemy.
"Lord Rein, wait—" Terrio started to ask about the strategy, but Rein had already vanished into a blur of motion.
"Is Lord Rein planning to use his Dragon Vein Transformation? If he increases his size, it will only make it harder for him to slip past the Demon Statues' defenses," Haleem whispered anxiously.
Rein employed Shadow Step, leaving a trail of afterimages in his wake. His velocity was nearly on par with that of Sword Saint Terrio.
Despite this, Terrio and the others remained skeptical of Rein's chances.
In terms of raw speed, Rein was still a step behind Terrio. More importantly, the enemy had already awakened a fifth Prototype. Even if they ignored the two they were currently engaged with, the challenge was immense.
Piercing through the defensive perimeter of the remaining three machines would be an even greater feat than what Terrio had attempted.
Rein darted past the first two Demon Statues, expertly positioning his body so that the Sword and Shield Prototype acted as a physical barrier between him and the two machines behind it.
For the moment, the only concentrated fire Rein had to dodge came from the Sword and Shield Demon directly in front of him.
From Terrio’s perspective, however, this was a temporary fix. As soon as Rein tried to bypass that final defender, he would be shredded by the combined firepower of the statues behind him.
Furthermore, once the Gravity Field took hold, Rein would likely be forced back in failure just as Terrio had been!
"Blade-toothed Disc!"
Suddenly, a dark silver disc with jagged edges, measuring several meters across, materialized above Rein’s right hand. It began to spin at a terrifying velocity.
The rotation was so intense that the individual teeth of the serrated disc vanished, leaving only a shimmering halo of lethal light surrounding the weapon.
