Meanwhile, the moment Chen Xi stepped into the lounge, her demeanor shifted instantly. Her eyebrows knitted together in a display of irritation as she barked, "Just what kind of relationship do you have with that Chu Mo?"
Wang Yue wasn't caught off guard. He understood Chen Xi’s personality perfectly, knowing she possessed such a volatile temper. While she would always present a united front with him against outsiders, her stubborn and sometimes irrational nature would emerge the moment they were alone.
Furthermore, since she held the moral high ground this time, she was bound to be particularly relentless.
Luckily, Wang Yue had already prepared a strategy. Instead of answering Chen Xi’s interrogation, he remained silent and suddenly pulled her into his embrace, tilting his head down to press his lips against hers.
Chen Xi was struck with total shock. Even though she was Wang Yue’s fiancée, they had always maintained a proper distance in their interactions. Such a bold, intimate act was far beyond their usual boundaries.
She had never anticipated that Wang Yue would kiss her so abruptly.
However, Chen Xi truly cared for Wang Yue; since her childhood, she had viewed him as the only man for her. Consequently, she felt no rejection toward his kiss; if anything, she found herself leaning into the pleasure of it.
Because it was her very first kiss, Chen Xi was lost on how to react, but Wang Yue was a seasoned veteran in romance. He quickly guided his fiancée through the exquisite sensations of the embrace.
The two of them shared a long, lingering kiss before finally breaking apart.
Overwhelmed by the embarrassment of her first time, Chen Xi hid her face against Wang Yue’s shoulder, whispering a complaint, "What do you think you're doing?"
"Weren't you doubting me? I’m simply using my actions to prove exactly how much I love you," Wang Yue replied, a smirk playing on his lips.
"Hmph, don't try to sweet-talk your way out of this. Give me a straight answer: what is happening between you and Chu Mo?" Chen Xi insisted, though her voice had lost its edge. It sounded less like a stern interrogation and more like a playful, coquettish plea.
"I don't want to deceive you. Initially, I only pursued her for the sake of family interests, but I’ve recently realized that I have developed genuine feelings for her," Wang Yue admitted honestly. He felt he had been unfair to Chen Xi, and he believed the best course of action was to be transparent rather than keeping her in the dark.
"I don't know if I can believe anything you say anymore," Chen Xi murmured softly. "You claim to love me, yet you admit to having feelings for another woman. Who is it that you truly love?"
"It’s you, of course," Wang Yue answered without a second of hesitation, though he quickly followed up, "But some men are naturally unfaithful and struggle to stay with just one person. That is simply my nature. My love for you is real and will never waver, yet I find myself unable to ignore my attraction to other women. I cannot lie to myself, and I refuse to lie to you."
"Does that mean I’m allowed to like several men as well?" Chen Xi asked with a pout. "Am I allowed to be with many men at once?"
"Absolutely not!" Wang Yue shook his head with conviction. "If you ever go to another man, I will kill him regardless of who he is. If he happens to be stronger than me, then I’ll let him take my life. But as long as I am breathing, I will never permit you to be with another living man."
"Wang Yue, you are truly shameless!" Chen Xi cried out.
"I can't help it. That’s just who I am. If you find that unacceptable..." Wang Yue let his sentence hang in the air.
Chen Xi’s heart raced with anxiety, and her eyes began to shimmer with tears. Was this jerk suggesting he would leave her if she couldn't deal with it?
But Wang Yue then finished his thought, "Then I will do everything in my power to make you accept it. In this life, you belong to me, and you will never be allowed to leave!"
Chen Xi was nearly fuming at his arrogance, yet a strange, indescribable sweetness washed over her—didn't his possessiveness prove how much he valued her?
Noticing her resolve softening, Wang Yue struck while the iron was hot. "Xiao Xi, I give you my word that I will cherish you for the rest of my life and provide you with everything I have. If there is something I don't possess, I will move heaven and earth to get it for you."
"I want a love that is whole, not something divided among others. Can you actually give me that?" Chen Xi asked, her voice turning cold.
"Yes!" Wang Yue replied instantly.
"And what about Chu Mo?" Chen Xi questioned.
"I have feelings for her, but it isn't love. It’s more of a desire to possess her because I find her charming," Wang Yue clarified. "If she doesn't return my feelings and chooses someone else, I would be saddened, but I wouldn't force her. But you... I will never let you go. Even if you despise me or stop liking me, I will remain by your side forever."
As she listened to his words, Chen Xi’s heart melted further. She couldn't resist saying, "But isn't that terribly unfair to Chu Mo?"
"Perhaps, but as long as she finds happiness with me, that is all I care about. Fairness doesn't factor into it," Wang Yue stated.
Ever since the resurgence of Qi and the rise of powerful martial artists, social morals had shifted drastically from several centuries ago. The concept of the strong having multiple partners had become a common reality, and Chen Xi was not immune to this cultural shift.
Thus, she was easily swayed by Wang Yue’s logic and rested obediently in his arms, whispering, "I truly hope you remember the promises you made today."
"Have no fear. Regardless of how many women enter my life in the future, you will always hold the highest place in my heart," Wang Yue vowed with gravity.
"Just how many more do you intend to have?" Chen Xi asked, sounding annoyed, before a realization hit her: "Wait, you said you only just started chasing Chu Mo, meaning you haven't won her over yet. So how are you so skilled at kissing? Tell me, is there another woman I don't know about?"
"There is also Sister Lan," Wang Yue confessed. It wasn't that he was using Li Menglan as a convenient excuse; rather, of all his women, she was the only one he could openly acknowledge, and she was the one most likely to be accepted by his circle.
Having already swallowed the pill of his pursuit of Chu Mo, Chen Xi found it slightly easier to tolerate the existence of another woman in his life.
Besides, Li Menglan was a known entity. Chen Xi knew her well and they shared a good relationship, making the news much easier to digest.
Even so, a spark of resentment flickered in Chen Xi’s heart: Why? She was the official fiancée, yet he had honed his kissing techniques with Li Menglan first.
And it likely didn't stop at just kissing... So she pressed, "Just how far have things gone between you and Sister Lan?"
