The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1837: Threat of Erasure
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
Rex holds significant power in the Spirit Realm.
This stems mostly from his ties to Kei Xun, plus the illusion of extra support from Ignatius's welcome offering. Though his pure power doesn't rank at the peak, it's far beyond the ordinary level.
He matches a royal knight's prowess, yet falls short of the royals themselves.
By Mortal Realm measures, though, he'd be virtually impossible to defeat.
Still, his arms tingled from parrying Void's strike, startling him completely.
The mere occurrence of the blow landing on him was shocking; he certainly didn't anticipate this additional jolt that left him dazed.
A blue holographic glow spread across the whole space.
<Scanning...>
<Notice: From the leftover energy, the strike managed to hit the user via a cross-realm item linking the Spirit Realm and Mortal Realm. Strikes from this foreign item can all connect with the user>
After absorbing the system's response, Rex composed himself and stood tall.
The existence of such an item astonished him.
By now, Rex understood that multiple supernatural groups bridged the realms. Thus, discovering other links beyond the divide shouldn't shock him. He resolved to learn more about this particular artifact.
"Impressive," Rex acknowledged the assault with a head tilt. "But why seek me out specifically?"
"Since you've offended me."
"Explain precisely how I've offended you,"
Rex deemed it unbelievable, as he hadn't targeted the Angels yet.
Or so he thought; he believed his actions were harmless.
However, he was mistaken.
"You've backed the rebel factions. You've bargained with Demons to let their infernal influence and taint pollute my Dark Angels. You've attempted to reclaim seized territories like a blatant robber. And you..." For the initial time, Void's face shifted. Fury appeared, intense and raw. "Have slain my brother and tarnished the Archangel of Knives' honor."
Rex's expression stayed neutral as Void enumerated his offenses.
He pondered how Void discovered those details, but eventually, the truth would emerge anyway, so it didn't bother him much. Yet the final accusation stunned him.
He could never have suspected Stelios and Void were brothers.
"I've arrived to proclaim a blood vendetta upon you," Void's tone sank to a menacing rumble. "Your life is mine to take."
"Is that so?" Rex grinned at the pronouncement. "You'll need to join the queue with the rest."
Against Chaos, the Fourthborn, the Lunirich Gods, and the Sky People, Void posed the least danger. Rex prepared to confront entities from superior realms, so how could a fresh Dark Archangel trouble him?
In fact, he'd dispatch Void swiftly to concentrate on greater foes.
Splash!
Morgana slipped behind Rex and thrust her hand into his rear.
Crimson sprayed over her features as she forced it deeper, but soon she noticed her infused hand slowing down. It stopped midway, blocked from advancing. Rex's sinews and skeleton proved extraordinarily tough, like tempered iron.
Her digits sank into him as if pounding meat against stone.
"Raarghk!!"
She howled. His tissue resisted, pulverizing her hand and shattering bones to fragments.
"Master, aid me!"
Right as she pleaded, a fresh energy ray ripped through the dimensional barrier and surged into her hand with vitality. Terminating Rex immediately overrode all else; he'd spell disaster later. Better to finish him without delay.
Yet slaying Rex proved no simple task.
Rex spun his body and delivered a crushing elbow to Morgana's visage.
That single blow fractured numerous bones in her features.
Ruthlessly, Rex gripped Morgana's face, his gaze igniting to scarlet. He channeled life force swiftly into the Red Dawn of Kaiser via Inevitable Death. But this time, its resonance carried amplified might.
Potent enough to warp the atmosphere into a scorching mist, resembling molten rock.
"You see, after besting your brother, I suffered grave injuries," Rex clarified. The gash on his back mended instantly as he pivoted toward Void once more. "Recovery was essential, and your brother offered the sole path to restoration."
Void's countenance stiffened.
He recognized Rex's nature. He grasped the implication. This ignited visible rage across his stoic features.
Rex gestured, pulling an item from his inventory.
It crashed to the earth with a resounding thump. Several sets of elegant winged feathers.
Ones once borne by Stelios, now claimed by him.
"That event sparked my taste for Angelic essence," Rex's mouth twisted in mockery, staring at Void as potential sustenance. "I'm eager for our final confrontation. I anticipate savoring your essence and vitality. A true Dark Archangel... Now that's an exquisite rarity.
"But before that, witness the foe you face."
Slash—!
Rex swung his hand in a cutting arc at Morgana.
Terror gripped her as she shut her eyes, bracing for instant death.
Moments ticked by without agony.
Bewildered, Morgana reopened her eyes. She collapsed when Rex released her, then inspected her form urgently. Unharmed. No apparent injuries marred her, nor did discomfort assail her.
Yet the sinister grin on Rex's lips suggested he'd acted.
Suddenly, the sensation unfolded like a flower in bloom.
Not torment, or she'd be shrieking. Instead, an inner shift stirred. Her form felt amiss, profoundly altered. Dread gripped her as she fixed a furious stare on Rex. "What have you done?!" She bellowed, eyes bulging in horror at the mystery. "What did you do to me?!"
Even Void struggled to comprehend the occurrence.
Until, at last, he sensed it.
The bond linking him to Morgana weakened steadily.
"Angels served as former redeemers," Rex stated, his grin broadening while Morgana floundered in doubt. "Figures revered by multitudes. Entities who offered their lives for others' survival. But today? Angels, or Dark Angels alike, devolve into grotesque perversions of their former glory. That perversion comprises just half of your being. Conveniently, I possess the means to excise it."
"What...?" Morgana's gaze expanded.
Throughout her existence, she'd never envisioned such a fate.
And it chilled her to the core.
"Explain your words," Her features quivered. She clutched Rex's limb and rattled it desperately, pleading for clarity. "What do you intend by that? What do you mean you can excise it?"
"Precisely as stated,"
"No... You're deceiving me. You must be—arghh!"
Morgana yearned to dismiss Rex's claim as falsehood. Yet concurrently, her frame chilled progressively. Vital warmth ebbed away, and most dreadfully, her tie to Void vanished.
Only then did conviction dawn: Rex spoke truth.
Her Angelic lineage... It faded. Thinned and supplanted by her Spirit heritage.
His rise to Awakened Demigod reshaped him. Every force he wielded infused with sanctity. Each amplified in potency and clarity. His powers evolved accordingly. Inevitable Death now inflicted inescapable, fatal harm upon objectives.
Presently, it targeted profound cores within the victim, encompassing lineages.
A Spirit Genesis rooted in the Blood Moon.
Lineages fell squarely under its dominion.
Stripped of her Angel heritage, she became wholly Spirit. Her dermis softened with her essence, discarding radiance for mundanity. She no longer exuded majesty and poise as before.
Now she appeared ordinary, and alarmingly, far feebler.
"Though the First Light perished, his link to all Angels as their progenitor endures with immense potency. Perhaps a perk of longevity," Rex faced Void anew, posture unyielding, eyes harboring erasure's menace. "Dark Angels diverge. You and yours are recent. So, enlighten me... First Darkness. Imagine deploying my ability upon them as with Morgana?"
Void's look intensified and narrowed.
The response was plain enough.
Rex menaced him with obliteration from existence's records.
Absent a lineage's echo, Dark Angels equated to nonexistence.
This barb stung Void's deepest pride. One he'd heed gravely.
Morgana, merely a partial Angel before, lost her essence so effortlessly.
Provided opportunity, Rex's Inevitable Death might eradicate the Dark Angel lineage outright. Even potential challengers to Rex would crumble. Their forms could burst irrespective of might.
"This I'll not forget," Void declared with purposeful weight. "Our blood rivalry concludes with you drowning in your gore. Don't presume your evolution grants arrogance before me. Should safety delude you, further shocks await."
<Killing intent!>
Rex stood still, observing the killing intent alert sparked by Void.
Evidently, prior, Void viewed his death as obligatory.
It showed scant regard for Stelios, not as kin might.
Likely, he acted solely to safeguard his image. Avenging no brother's slayer ill-suited him. But now, Rex's warning pierced deeply, turning the motive personal.
Rex hadn't sought that shift, yet it benefited him nonetheless.
Thus, his form dissolved, the portal's lingering force depleted at last. Quiet enveloped the zone. Solely Morgana's sobs echoed as her inner glow resisted departure, despite her futile struggles.
Rex ignored her plight.
His thoughts wandered elsewhere.
Encountering Void solo already astonished him. He'd figured the Archangel of Knives as his sole Angelic concern, yet more arose. As though destiny decreed it, Void held extensive knowledge of him.
Reflecting on Void's departing visage, a deeper undercurrent lingered.
Mere intuition.
Rex sensed Void's swift ascent defied nature.
Assistance must have propelled him. Undeniably.
With Void's enigmas abundant, while he likely knew more of Rex, relaxation was impossible. Rex shook his head sighing. "All seem bent on my demise for varied causes. And he's the hypocrite. I approach the Tabaxis, and abruptly I'm the intruder? He's the invader of distant domains."
He rose straight. "Regardless, swift return is needed. He may target the others."
