Ning Shu observed Armor Paige, noting his pale golden hair and the matching golden earrings he wore.
With a swift flick of his wrist, he produced a handkerchief and performed a magic trick, making a lovely blue blossom materialize. He leaned forward, presenting the flower to Ning Shu.
Accepting the gift, Ning Shu brought it to her nose for a sniff before pausing. “Pardon my bluntness,” she remarked, “but this flower has the scent of a fart.”
Armor Paige let out a laugh as he took a seat across from her. “You are the first girl to ever admit that. Every other woman claimed it was fragrant. Not a single one mentioned the actual odor. Even when their faces twisted in disgust, they would still insist the smell was wonderful.”
Remaining expressionless, Ning Shu reached out and shoved the flower into Dagger Mu’s collar. It was clear to her that this man possessed a warped sense of humor.
This individual had previously stayed by Nicole’s side, hoping to establish a contract with her. However, Nicole’s heart had always been occupied by Lar.
She rarely paid attention to the weapons surrounding her, utilizing them only on occasion. If they required assistance with hunting, Nicole would provide it.
“What is your purpose here?” Ning Shu wondered. Another of the weapons that had once followed Nicole had now appeared before her.
Ning Shu gave Armor Paige a polite look and asked, “Would you like to join me for a meal?”
“I appreciate the offer, but no,” he replied.Dagger Mu spoke up with great enthusiasm, telling Ning Shu, “Armor Paige wishes to form a contract and become your partner.”
“How flattering,” Ning Shu said with a thin smile. She then turned to Armor Paige. “Isn’t it a bit impulsive to enter a contract so casually?”
Paige gripped his handkerchief once more, conjuring a yellow flower this time, which he offered to Ning Shu.
“I am hesitant. I have no idea what this one smells like, and I don’t want to catch the scent of a fart while I’m still eating.” Was he intentionally trying to revolt her?
“I give you my word that this one is pleasant,” Paige insisted, holding the bloom toward her.
Ning Shu took a sniff. This time, the scent wasn't a fart—it smelled like shit.
Without a word, she tucked this second flower into Dagger Mu’s collar as well.
How could she have been foolish enough to fall for his trick twice?
What kind of twisted hobby was this?
“Does it not smell lovely?” Armor Paige inquired.
Ning Shu replied coldly, “If I shoved your head into the droppings of a moon beast and you told me it smelled good, only then would I agree that this is fragrant.”
Armor Paige’s expression froze for a brief second before he regained his smile. “You certainly have a sense of humor.”
Despite the revolting subject matter, Ning Shu continued eating calmly. After being starved for days with nothing but dry flatbread, she was determined to enjoy a proper meal.
She glanced at Dagger Mu, who was sitting unusually still with two flowers poking out of his collar. “How exactly did you meet him?” she asked.
Under normal circumstances, respectable weapons avoided associating with fallen ones.
“I found him sobbing on the street and went to see what was wrong. After that, I couldn't get rid of him,” Armor Paige explained, pressing a hand to his forehead with a look of helplessness.
Ning Shu’s gaze flickered. So that was the reason—Dagger Mu had fallen for such a simple tactic?
He was so desperate for any form of affection that he clung to the first stranger who showed him even a shred of concern.
Lar descended from the upper floor and noticed Armor Paige seated opposite Ning Shu. He approached and asked her, “Who is this?”
He had rarely left his master's side and did not recall her being acquainted with this person.
“He arrived seeking a contract. Dagger Mu was the one who introduced him,” Ning Shu said, giving a short explanation.
Lar smiled. “It is a positive thing for Master to have more weapons accompanying her.”
This Lar was a changed man—no longer consumed by depression. Following his recent experiences, and seeing how easily moon beasts were slaughtered by Ning Shu’s hand, his self-loathing had faded.
Watching the exchange from the side, Dagger Mu added quickly, “Paige is a top-tier weapon. If you have doubts, you can put him to the test. His defensive capabilities are among the highest tier of all defensive weapons.”
Ning Shu continued her meal in silence while Lar politely questioned Paige about his background in more detail.
