The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1749: Main Quest Initiated!

Empress Morgana offered a stunning smile.

It was a look of pure innocence and virtue, the kind that brought a sense of tranquility to Rex’s soul.

On the surface, nothing appeared out of place.

Her complexion shimmered with a faint, celestial glow, marking her as one favored by the heavens themselves.

"You’ve changed..." Rex murmured, his gaze traveling down her cascading gold hair before meeting her shimmering golden eyes. "Pardon my bluntness, Your Majesty, but are you truly the same woman? You weren't like this during our previous encounter."

Empress Morgana’s grin widened as she stepped out from beneath the dome.

She began to circle the statue with slow, rhythmic movements.

Each stride produced a sharp click as her golden high heels met the stone floor.

However, Rex remained fixated on her face, his brow furrowing as her image shifted once more the moment she exited the dome’s shadow. Her eyes ignited with a fierce crimson heat, and her pristine white gown became marbled with veins of deep red running through the fabric.

The transformation was both unsettling and perfectly fluid.

It left Rex wondering if his initial perception had been flawed.

Perhaps the dome itself was responsible for masking her true form.

As Rex watched her, his thoughts raced; there was something hauntingly familiar about her current state.

The sudden silence of her footsteps jolted him back to reality.

Standing directly before the statue, Empress Morgana regarded him with a strange look before turning her attention to the surrounding monuments. "I suspect your knowledge of the Tomb of Heroes is lacking. Even Princess Davina likely knew very little of this sanctuary."

"I was just about to inquire," Rex admitted, glancing at the statues. "What is the nature of this place, Your Majesty?"

"Please," Empress Morgana said, lifting a hand with a smile. "Morgana is sufficient. You are, after all, my savior."

"If that is your wish, I shall set aside the formalities."

"Excellent, that makes things much simpler."

Empress Morgana moved toward the side, approaching the monument dedicated to the Shapeshifter.

"The Tomb of Heroes is a humble tribute born of the mind to honor the great; it is a chronicle where the incomprehensible are preserved and celebrated. Only the mightiest and most courageous may find a place here," she explained, resting her palms on the railing while gazing at the figure. "These statues are indestructible, serving as perfect manifestations of those beings. Each one holds a fragment of their original power and their lingering will."

"What defines them as heroes? If this concerns the Great Flood, shouldn't the Silent Consort be represented?" Rex questioned, thinking back to the information Ethan had shared.

"The Great Flood is the only event most people remember, but that was merely the conclusion. The true conflicts occurred long before," Empress Morgana sighed softly, turning back to face Rex. "The real wars against our ultimate foe, Chaos, took place well before that era."

"And every statue you behold here," she said, gesturing to the vast chamber, "represents a true hero. Each was entrusted with the same burden: to carry the destiny of the world upon their shoulders. They all fought to their limits, producing lineages to bolster their ranks."

Rex’s heart hammered against his ribs as he heard those words.

His eyes flared with realization as he processed the Empress's statement.

He sensed a looming disaster he wasn't ready to face.

"What is it?" Amanir asked, noting his sudden pallor. "Is there a problem?"

"No..." Rex muttered, shaking his head. "I am the one in trouble."

Spotting his distress, Empress Morgana tilted her head and arched an eyebrow.

"Are you unwell, Lord Rex?"

"I... regarding what you just said... are you suggesting these are the statues of the Origins?"

"Indeed. And I am certain you recognize their descendants," Empress Morgana replied, pointing toward the figures. Her finger moved through the air, emphasizing each name. "Shapeshifters... Dragonmen... Angels... and Demons."

Rex extended his hand toward the statue immediately to his left. "That is the Demon Origin?"

"Yes, that is her—the first demon. Every demon in existence was spawned by her."

"Shit..."

Swish!

The moment the curse left his lips, all attention shifted toward the statue of the Demon Origin.

Faint, agonizing shrieks rang out in their ears.

While the others saw only a motionless statue, Rex witnessed its eyes ignite with a sinister red light. To his horror, the stone head tilted slightly to look him in the eye, and its mouth twisted into a mocking grin.

<Warning!>

<Warning!>

<Notice: The Demon Origin—Mother Eismerin, the Original Sin—has fixed her gaze upon the user!>

"Not now!" Rex snarled, but the phenomenon did not cease.

Instead, the statue’s chest split open, revealing a pulsating rift containing the very core of Hell—a scorched wasteland consumed by infinite fire. From that vortex, an object slowly emerged. It was a saber, a demonic blade wreathed in hellfire so intense it surpassed any mortal flame.

As it appeared, Rex found himself paralyzed.

An invisible force clamped down on him, as if the space around him had been crushed.

He was trapped.

Finally, the saber glided forward.

Its entire length slid out of the rift, revealing a body of pure onyx.

Demonic eyes lined the blade, and the cross-guard resembled a maw packed with jagged teeth.

Rex watched the saber approach with agonizing slowness—a pace so leisurely even a commoner could have dodged it. Yet, he remained rooted. The surrounding dimension had hardened into invisible chains, locking his body, his Qi, and even his breath.

He fought back with every ounce of his Cultivation, desperate to break the seal.

It was useless.

Not a single crack appeared in the invisible prison.

It felt like being trapped in a void where physical strength was irrelevant.

Nearby, Amanir and Empress Morgana were not frozen in time, but they seemed to exist in a different world. They moved and breathed normally, observing the statue which appeared lifeless to them, as if they occupied a separate dimension layered over his.

"Amanir!"

"Morgana!"

Rex shouted, but they didn't flinch.

They couldn't hear him.

Both were focused on the monument, completely oblivious to the fact that he was about to be impaled just a few paces away.

Then, the blade touched his skin.

Pssh...

Steam rose as the hellfire flared, latching onto his body.

Instead of burning outward like a typical fire, it sank into him, acting like a parasite that tunneled into his flesh and soul. A wave of agony crashed over him, a heat so fierce it obliterated all thought.

A scream escaped his throat, ringing through the hall.

But it lasted only a heartbeat.

Before the weapon could penetrate more than a few centimeters into his chest, Rex regained his focus.

His eyes erupted in a crimson flash as a savage power surged from within him.

His arm lashed out before the world could bind him again.

Clang!

Rex struck the side of the saber with a heavy blow, sending it skidding across the floor.

The collision sent a shockwave through the chamber, echoing like a clap of thunder.

"Still bitter about the fragment I claimed, I see..." Rex growled at the statue of the Demon Origin. "Rest assured, I am utilizing it far better than you ever did. Furthermore, if you wish to challenge me, it will take more than a mere shadow of your consciousness."

"Besides, I am currently assisting one of your own kind," he added with irritation. "Begone."

Boom!

A massive explosion of energy erupted from Rex, shattering the dimensional shackles.

In an instant, reality returned to its natural state.

"What is troubling you, Lord Rex?" Empress Morgana asked, bewildered by his intense reaction to the statue. "I am unaware of your history with the Demon Race in your world, but this statue contains only a tiny spark of consciousness. It lacks the power to harm you."

Rex forced a strained, weary smile, his chest heaving as sweat trickled down his neck.

Neither the Empress nor Amanir realized he had just survived an assault.

He saw no reason to enlighten them.

"Yes. My interactions with the demons in the Mortal Realm have always been... complicated," Rex lied casually, hiding his stress behind a calm expression. "But if you claim there is no danger, I will trust your judgment."

Empress Morgana looked skeptical, but she didn't interrogate him.

Instead, she nodded and returned to the dome, moving to retrieve the chests.

Rex looked at the Demon Origin statue and then at the tributes near the Angel Origin.

Confusion gnawed at him.

Things weren't adding up, and a sense of dread began to settle in his gut.

"There was an era when the Spirit Realm and the Mortal Realm were closely linked, far more than they are today," Empress Morgana remarked as she levitated the chests toward him using her life energy. "After all, I am sure you are aware that your world has suffered a regression. It is only recently beginning to heal."

Rex’s eyes narrowed; this was information she shouldn't possess.

Only inhabitants of the Mortal Realm should know about the World’s Awakening.

He instinctively pulled Amanir behind him, his intuition screaming that something was wrong.

Studying the Empress’s eyes, he realized she was trying to tell him something.

Clank!

Empress Morgana set the chests containing the Phoenix Feather and the Maw of Oblivion down before the hooded, ominous statue. "I am deeply grateful for your assistance, Lord Rex. Truly. Because of that, I have a warning for you."

Rex tilted his head in confusion.

This was the moment he was supposed to receive his payment.

Empress Morgana had brought the items he sought.

Yet, she seemed hesitant to let him take them.

"Leave," Empress Morgana commanded, her voice turning cold and serious. "Turn back, exit the Tomb of Heroes, and abandon these treasures. At the very least, wait until your personal matters are resolved—I give you my word I will protect them until then."

"What...?" Rex whispered, his eyes sharpening. "What is the meaning of this, Morgana?"

"Go," she whispered, her eyes becoming glassy. "Just go..."

Empress Morgana pointed to a fissure in the floor that separated the bridge from the central dais. "Understand that if you cross that boundary, you are throwing your life away. Even your physical form in the Mortal Realm will perish."

"Is this an attempt to intimidate me?" Rex asked, raising a brow.

He had never been ruled by fear of the end.

Even if he were, there was no turning back now.

If he stopped here, his journey would end in failure regardless, so why fear a threat like this?

Steeling his heart, Rex stepped onto the platform.

Immediately, a barrage of notifications filled his sight.
