The Evolution Of A Goblin To The Peak Chapter 1245: Fighting the Assassins

Previously on The Evolution Of A Goblin To The Peak...
Souta remained secluded in his room within the Rulman Household, wary of internal enmities after escorting young master Fadu to safety. Summoned by Matriarch Freida, he entered her chamber amid the household's elders, where she expressed gratitude for his aid before a maid burst in with news of a poisoning attempt on Fadu. Enraged, Freida unleashed a powerful formation sealing the estate and launched a ruthless purge against traitors, clashing fiercely with Elder Reklor who sought to shield his son. Amid the erupting chaos and energy storms, Souta hastened to Fadu's side, joining the boy and his father Wresho as tensions boiled over the household.

Boom!! Boom!!

Tremors shook the whole formation.

It struggled to withstand the reverberations from the fierce clash unfolding high above.

’Freida has probably pinpointed the betrayers by now, or things wouldn’t have spiraled this far. Fadu must have informed her that one of his uncles is among the traitors,’ Souta speculated.

Violent surges of energy pulsed overhead, punctuated by sporadic blasts. The regular household members couldn’t suppress their shivers of terror. The power unleashed by the battling powerhouses soared way beyond their grasp.

More than one fight was underway simultaneously. Souta even detected a potent beast aura from a fifth-stage creature.

The Rulman Household boasted impressive might. With several top-tier experts in their ranks, they ranked among the leading clans across the nation. Regrettably, their unity was just an illusion to outsiders.

"Hmm?"

Souta arched a brow, diverting his focus from the overhead skirmish. He turned a bit and spotted three silhouettes nearing the spot, their auras masked.

Rising to his feet, he shot a look at the father and son pair.

"I’ll handle those three," he declared.

Wresho stayed quiet. His power level allowed him to pick up on the intruders too.

Yet, he struggled to accept that his brother aimed to nab his boy and dominate the whole Rulman Household through such vile tactics.

Without his son’s return, they’d never have uncovered Dihra’s plot.

Regardless, he’d shield his son no matter the cost. This pivotal instant demanded vigilance; he wouldn’t let anyone approach. Capturing Fadu could force Freida’s hand against their foes.

Wresho cast a subtle glance at his son.

Right then, Souta positioned himself a short distance from the chamber housing Wresho and Fadu.

He scanned left, then right. Those intruders showed no signs of emerging.

"Show yourselves. I’ve already detected all three of you."

After his words, Souta paused for a few seconds. Seeing no movement from the trio, he exhaled softly.

"If you’re not here to grab Fadu, I’ll leave you alone. But that malice in your stares is obvious; you can’t conceal it."

A subtle grin curved Souta’s mouth as he gradually lifted his hand. He aimed a finger ahead, where potent energy started to whirl at the tip.

[Bestrou]!!

Even before the strike hit the earth, three forms exploded from the foliage and trunks.

They touched down meters distant as a mighty detonation boomed in their wake. Surprise etched their features, unprepared for the beast before them to unleash without warning.

The group raised their eyes.

The eldest was a Searan with locks like seaweed, elongated and swaying as if underwater. He extended his right arm, gesturing for the pair behind to halt.

"Hold. All of you," he commanded.

The female next to him displayed a stern look.

"No need to state the obvious."

Though steady on the surface, she swallowed instinctively.

The creature facing them exuded a crushing presence that choked her breath. It pressed down like unseen hands squeezing her neck.

She eyed the fellow at her side and noted his stiff posture. The heavy force weighed on them like boulders on their backs.

Souta eyed the three and stated, "Reasoning with me is pointless now. I offered you an opportunity earlier, but you ignored it."

The eldest gulped deeply. He brimmed with caution. The beast ahead radiated a profoundly perilous vibe.

With no reply forthcoming, Souta glanced back at the room sheltering Fadu and Wresho.

"You’re fine with me eliminating these three, aren’t you?" he inquired evenly.

Wresho’s face grew grave as he answered, "No."

As betrayers targeting his son, mercy held no place for them.

"Very well..."

Souta redirected his focus to the trio.

Hmm?

Just two figures lingered before him.

The leader, who’d been out front, had disappeared.

Souta’s eyes flicked sideways, catching the eldest rematerializing in his side view.

Whoosh!!

The eldest shoved his left palm at Souta, his right clasping the wrist to steady the building force.

"Perish... beast!"

A ferocious ray burst from his palm. Bolts and liquid intertwined in a coiling rush, howling as the forces merged into a ruinous surge.

BOOM!!!

The beam ripped the atmosphere, cleaving it open. Electricity burst in dazzling flares while waves crashed like a bursting sea, engulfing all in reach.

The remaining pair moved swiftly. They vaulted away from the growing blast zone and launched their strikes at the core.

BANG!!

Within the chamber, Wresho lifted a hand. A translucent shield flickered to life across the entrance.

The torrent of liquid and bolts slammed into it, yet no disturbance seeped beyond.

Whoooosh!!

Haze billowed over the wreckage before gradually dissipating. Lingering sparks danced in the atmosphere. Fire nibbled at splintered remnants. Floods pooled in the fractured soil.

Close structures lay in ruins. Saplings were uprooted and flung scores of meters distant. Amid the chaos sprawled a vast pit, plunging almost thirty meters.

And in its midst, Souta remained upright.

Thick power wrapped him like a raging tempest, guarding his form from all harm.

No blemish marred his skin.

"It... impossible..." The eldest’s eyes bulged.

"Untouched... completely!" the woman murmured, her tone quivering.

The last one gaped in stunned silence.

Their joint assault, capable of leveling a whole sector, proved utterly futile.

Souta gradually raised his gaze to meet theirs. Then he balled his fist.

Tension gripped the air.

"Back then..." he uttered steadily, his words piercing the fading gale, "you could’ve harmed me perhaps, but today? It’s virtually out of reach."

The trio recoiled on instinct.

Yet the other male clenched his jaw, rage overriding sense.

With a bellow, he lunged ahead.

"STOP!!" the eldest yelled, lunging to restrain him, but the moment had passed.

In a blink, the male closed in on Souta, pouring forth his full might. Blazes ignited over his azure hide, draping him in fiery armor. Mana churned wildly around his knuckles, expanding until a colossal fiery punch hovered overhead, echoing his motion.

"Vanish, BEAST!!"

Souta’s stare grew icy as he thrust out his arm. His frame blurred, and a horrifying force erupted from within, warping the very atmosphere.

The instant after, his hand clamped onto the male’s visage.

The aggressor failed to register his blow had whiffed. His blazing punch cleaved through nothingness.

Then clarity hit.

For Souta already held his face.

"ARGH!!"

The male howled in agony and frenzy, flailing his free fist at Souta’s side. But Souta denied him the chance.

He smashed the male earthward.

Simultaneously, his knee surged up.

Bang!

The collision jerked the male’s skull back savagely. Before a breath escaped, Souta channeled power into his spare fist and plunged it into the male’s gut.

BANG!!

Shockwaves ripped the breeze apart.

The male’s frame crumpled inward and rocketed skyward hundreds of meters, a mangled missile.

Souta cocked his head a touch and parted his jaws.

[Bestrou]!!

A concentrated ray of ruin lanced from his mouth, slamming the flying target without delay.

BOOM!!!

The heavens flared in a savage burst.

Inferno and bolts devoured the male in flight.

And with that, the fight ended.

The brief clash spanned under a second.

The eldest and the woman stood paralyzed, reactions lagging. By the time awareness dawned, their ally lay erased.

"This is bad... retreat now!" the eldest wheezed.

Abruptly, a gleam ignited the area ahead.

Whooosh!!

Several [Bestrou] sliced the wind, launched at them in tandem.

Boom!! Boom!! Boom!!

Detonations rang out in harmony, quaking the terrain and scattering rubble. Haze and blaze clouded sight, while the din of ruin deafened them.

As the fog lifted, they stumbled forth, wounded and dazed, expressions warped in dread.

"Are we... truly ditching the task?" the woman breathed, her voice shaky.

"Yes... that... thing is unbeatable," the eldest conceded, his speech stumbling.

They couldn’t tell if their lost partner endured. It scarcely signified, given his loss of composure had doomed any command.

Whoosh!!

Icy dread prickled their backs. A figure had materialized in their rear.

They whirled about.

Souta loomed there, composed yet fearsome. A single digit aimed their way, energy churning wildly around it. The atmosphere buzzed with impending doom.

The very breeze wailed: their fate was sealed.
