The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order Chapter 2277 The end of an Empyrean World (II)

"RUMBLE!"
The Heart of the Root advanced relentlessly, its vibrations growing more violent as massive tendrils pierced the upper atmosphere of the Abyssalcrown Empyrean World. The entire firmament trembled under the weight of its approach, as if the cosmos itself cringed at the malignant presence forcing its way down. Cain gritted his teeth, pushing against the colossal mass and refusing to back down even as his body shook in every fiber. His soul and mind were stretched to their limits, nearing a breaking point he could feel manifesting behind his eyes.
Still, he did not crumble. He couldn't afford to. Every second he held his ground meant tens of millions of lives were spared—lives that the Heart of the Root would otherwise absorb into its hideous, expanding form.
"If only I could channel the strength of the Abyssalcrown Empyrean World..." Cain cursed to himself, though he knew such a feat was impossible.
Because he was not a native of the Abyssalcrown Empyrean World, he lacked the natural bond he shared with the Everstrife Empyrean World. At his current stage, the Power of Chaos was unable to synchronize with an entire world, leaving both him and Anark with no choice but to depend on their own raw Cultivation.
The Heart of the Root showed no signs of compassion.
Its descent grew more crushing with every passing second, striking with the force of a thousand falling moons. Tendrils as large as entire mountain ranges lashed out, targeting not only the Empyrean World below but also the physical forms of the True Primordials.
Cain and Anark stayed focused, ignoring the distractions. They withstood the strikes of decaying flesh, pushing back with all the power they could muster. Their bodies, fortified by incredible physical resilience, took the hits—but their spirits and minds could not avoid the mental onslaught that followed.
"ARRGHRHRG!"
A psychic wave, sounding like two titanic voices screaming in unison, slammed into them with invisible, brutal strength. This spiritual shock was silent yet deafening as it tore through the void. Anark managed to hold on through sheer willpower and the buffs from his Tribulation Enhancement. However, Cain—already pushed beyond his capacity—felt the shriek shatter his mental defenses. Agony surged through his mind, and his vision began to blur. The light in his eyes flickered, struggled—
—and then vanished.
His Chaos Wings crumbled into fading sparks of power as he slipped into a deep unconsciousness.
Anark’s eyes went wide. Without Cain’s assistance, the weight of the world-sized tumor became unbearable. The Heart of the Root surged downward, plunging toward the Abyssalcrown Empyrean World with devastating speed.
"Damn it!"
The True Primordial of the Void bellowed in fury. Shrinking back to his original size, he caught Cain’s limp body and retreated from the collapsing front line. His voice echoed across the vacuum.
"Withdraw now!"
Leonidas and the other ArchDeities heard the command. Their faces were etched with complex emotions—helplessness, sorrow, and frustration. Though millions remained on the surface below, there was no more time to rescue them. Pushing down their grief, they followed the order and pulled away from the Abyssalcrown Empyrean World with heavy hearts.
Regrouping in the void near Anark, they were forced to watch the tragedy unfold.
The Heart of the Root slammed into the Empyrean World.
A nauseating tremor shook the fabric of reality as the tainted mass spread over the planet like a layer of filth and rot. The Empyrean World tried to fight back, but without a powerful vessel to direct its essence, it could not stop the Heart of the Root’s conquest.
The scene that followed was one of pure horror.
Waves of corruption swept over the once-proud world. Vibrant continents turned to ash and dust. The great oceans boiled away into black mist. Mountains that once touched the heavens dissolved into piles of decaying sludge. The beautiful and ancient Empyrean World was buried under a suffocating blanket of rot.
The ArchDeities could do nothing but observe.
Their hearts were heavy with pain. Even though they had successfully evacuated over seventy-five percent of the people, trillions were still lost, consumed by the spreading nightmare.
And the situation was only deteriorating.
Having claimed the surface, the Heart of the Root began to flourish. Wild and unrestrained energy pulsed through it. A searing light gathered, intensifying until it burst forth in a massive inferno. A colossal wall composed of fire and writhing meat formed, reaching through the blackened atmosphere. Thousands of mouths, eyes, and tentacles moved within the flames, giving the mass a terrifying spark of life.
This wall of fire encased the entire Empyrean World, even blocking out the distant influence of the Universe Will.
Anark’s expression darkened. The situation had spiraled far beyond his worst projections. Previously, the Heart of the Root would have taken much longer to penetrate the inner layers of the Abyssalcrown Empyrean World, which would have given them a chance to regroup.
But in this new state...
The world was truly lost.
Anark could feel the sheer power emanating from the flaming barrier, and he knew with total certainty that even at his peak, he could not break through it.
"Move to the smaller worlds surrounding the Empyrean World," he ordered grimly. "Evacuate the inhabitants. Do not approach that wall of fire."
The Abyssalcrown Empyrean World was beyond saving. However, the numerous smaller worlds in its orbit were still in danger. While they couldn't move the worlds themselves, they could rescue the people living there. Leonidas and the other ArchDeities nodded, immediately dispersing to begin the task.
Even though these worlds were protected by Crystal Walls, the spiritual senses of such powerful beings could penetrate the shields. One by one, they started pulling the residents out, working without rest as they jumped from one world to the next.
Meanwhile, Anark kept his eyes locked on the corrupted Empyrean World, studying every change in its aura and power. He stayed vigilant for any sudden movements or new dangers. Simultaneously, he poured life force and spiritual energy into Cain’s body, carefully stabilizing his condition. Cain would eventually wake up, but the Abyssalcrown Empyrean World was gone forever.
