The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System Chapter 407 - So you are the man my daughter has chosen...
Qingyi couldn't help but find the environment on the western continent a little strange.
There was plenty of Qi, in fact, even more Qi than in many regions of the eastern continent. However, there didn't seem to be any Qi veins supplying the land or anything similar.
When he consumed this energy, it did not replenish itself as it did in the east. And if it did, the process was so slow that he could barely notice it.
It was weird.
With a soft sigh, Qingyi lifted his face, feeling the shower water fall on him as Isabel's voluptuous body melted in his embrace.
He felt a certain hesitation, but the fact was that the time had come to meet his father-in-law.
"Let's go," he said, patting Isabel's ass and grabbing one of her breasts firmly.
"Nghnn~~ okay, hubby!" Isabel flashed a big smile.
Soon, the two dried their bodies and left the bathroom, quickly getting dressed.
Suddenly, the girl was no longer so excited.
Her steps became shaky and her eyes uncertain.
"Everything will be fine, love..." Qingyi assured her as they walked through the long, luxurious corridors surrounded by black stones. His hands went to her delicate waist, displaying a gentle and loving
smile.
Honestly, unless Isabel's father had suffered damage to his soul,
Qingyi wasn't too worried.
Soul injuries were one of the few problems for which he was still unable to buy pills powerful enough to repair.
After walking for a few moments, Qingyi finally arrived in front of the room. The place was guarded by four knights of power equivalent to the realm of the false immortal, all with drawn swords, staring coldly at the corridors.
The moment they saw the couple approaching, they made way, bowing respectfully.
Isabel clung to her husband's arm a little tighter, and then they finally entered her father's chambers.
David Valemont, a proud warrior of the ninth ring, one of the most powerful in the entire kingdom and, above all, the supreme monarch of that region, who had ruled it for over 150 years.
He lay on his bed, his eyes tightly closed and his breathing weak. His once powerful muscles were reduced to skin clinging to bone.
At his side was his wife, Sofia Whitemane. Her hands were clasped with her husband's while the royal physician checked the pulse on his free hand.
In the corner of the room was another man whose robes Qingyi recognized well; he was a man of the church, similar to the bishop of Eagle Peak Valley.
The moment that man's eyes opened, they immediately focused on the young couple who had just entered.
This was the bishop of the cathedral of the kingdom of Valemont.
His hand went to the cross on his chest and his face twisted in disgust.
"I told you, my queen! It was the breaking of the promise to the Goddess that brought us this curse! You must separate this unholy couple and bring some sense to this girl!
Unless her husband converts, this marriage cannot continue," the bishop declared, rising from his silent prayer.
Sofia did not respond immediately, only glancing at her daughter and son-in-law.
Neither of them seemed to care much about the clergyman's words, keeping their eyes focused on David.
With a defeated sigh, the queen shook her head.
"We've already discussed this matter, and I will not continue this discussion," Sofia said coldly, calling her daughter closer and letting her grab her father's hand as well.
"Is there any damage to his soul?" Qingyi asked the doctor, also approaching his father-in-law.
"No," the doctor replied, shaking his head.
"But the damage to his body was catastrophic. Honestly, even years of
recovery may not be enough."
"Hm... well..." Qingyi smiled, drawing strange looks from everyone
there.
He opened the system store and searched for the highest-level healing pill he could find: an astral-grade healing pill.
The fact that it was one of the few mana-using pills available in the system certainly increased its value greatly, but Qingyi didn't care.
It was worth a fortune, yes. But compared to Isabel's value to him, it was pocket change that would barely buy candy.
Raising his hand, the pill materialized in his fingers. An enormous healing power immediately leaked from it, filling the entire room and even making the bishop shudder.
"M-may I?" the doctor asked, slightly trembling, swallowing hard as he reached out his hands toward the item between Qingyi's fingers. His eyes weren't lying to him, right? Even from a distance, he could
feel the purity and quality of that medicine.
Not even his best elixirs could compare to it!
"Are you thinking of giving this medicine to Your Majesty? I will not
allow it! This is unholy medicine, originating from heretics!
We cannot allow His Majesty to be corrupted by such a demonic item!" the bishop interjected again.
"Y-Your Holiness, please, this pill may be the last chance!"
"Blasphemy! The last chance lies in Auranys' arms, and only by
praying to her can we save the king! This-"
"Enough."
An angry, hoarse voice interrupted the discussion. A pair of eyes opened, cold and full of rage, falling on the bishop.
"Father!"
"Husband, please don't move!"
Two worried voices echoed, but David didn't care.
His skeletal arms clutched the edge of the bed. His cold eyes fixed on
Qingyi as he slowly stood up.
"So you are the man my daughter has chosen..." he growled, stopping
in front of Qingyi and grabbing his son-in-law's shoulders with long fingers that looked as if they were about to break.
He was using every ounce of power just to stand, face to face with the
young man.
"Very good! Hahaha!" David Valemont laughed. His laughter was soon replaced by a sickly cough, blood rising in his throat.
He almost fell to his knees, but he did not allow himself such
weakness.
He had woken up in a bad mood because of the annoying voice of that damned bishop, but seeing and feeling the power and nobility of the
man chosen by his daughter really improved his mood. Lifting his face to Qingyi one last time, he smiled, snatched the pill from the young man's hand, and then swallowed it.
