The Bloodline System Chapter 1679 1679: Collapsing Taboo
Previously on The Bloodline System...
As laughter echoed through the void, a fleeting glimmer of hope touched the deities, offering a brief respite in their unending nightmare.
That moment of relief was over in a heartbeat.
The cosmic prison began to shudder.
The source was not the Overseer.
It was not caused by structural instability.
The disturbance originated from within.
Nocturnis quickly shifted his attention back to the enclosure.
"What… was that?"
The Overseer tightened his brow. "What do you mean?"
A second tremor rocked the prison.
This one was far more violent.
A deep, rhythmic vibration surged through the glowing bars. It was a crushing pressure that did not belong to the cage itself.
The power belonged to Gustav.
Nocturnis’ eyes stretched wide. "Impossible—"
FWOOM.
A sudden eruption of force radiated outward, expanding from the interior of the cage like the birth of a new star.
The Overseer stumbled back, losing his footing.
The surrounding deities gasped in shock.
Inside the crimson sphere, Gustav’s aura flared like a supernova. It was evolving and shifting, sharpening into an edge that was far more refined and infinitely more lethal.
His Outworldly aura surged forward.
It expanded rapidly.
With every passing second, the density increased.
It grew more powerful.
More ancient.
It felt like a primordial entity finally waking after millions of years of slumber.
As his aura thickened, the beams of energy striking him began to warp and shatter, deflected away like simple raindrops hitting the impenetrable shell of a titan.
His fingers began to curl.
Then, he pressed his palm flat against one of the shimmering red bars.
The Overseer recoiled in fear.
"No… no, no, no!"
By design, the prison had nullified the very concept of gravity.
The concept of movement had been erased, ensuring that any living creature trapped inside would be rendered completely immobile.
Furthermore, the concept of active power was suppressed entirely within the cage.
The Overseer had stripped away every law that permitted motion or defiance, turning Gustav into a helpless target for thousands of beams with no way to defend himself.
This represented the absolute peak of the prison's Cultivation...
Yet, despite everything, Gustav’s hand moved.
With slow, deliberate force, he pushed against the bar.
The red pillar shook uncontrollably, vibrating under the immense strain.
"How—?" a deity whispered, their body shaking.
Another retreated in pure terror. "T-This is… This is not possible!"
The Overseer’s voice cracked with desperation.
"He cannot move! He shouldn't be able to move!"
Gustav’s fingers locked around the bar.
He began to pull.
The bar resisted at first, groaning with a cosmic weight. Since the prison’s structure was bound to the Overseer’s very essence, straining the bars meant tearing at the Overseer’s own soul.
The Overseer let out a scream of agony as a portion of his essence was scorched away by Gustav’s mere grip.
But Gustav did not relent.
The metal began to bend.
Slowly.
Painfully.
The Overseer struck back instantly, channeling all his strength to bolster the prison. He cast dozens of layers of temporal stabilizers and cosmic bindings around Gustav.
However, Gustav’s burgeoning aura simply absorbed every ounce of that pressure.
Even the relentless, galaxy-level beams failed to slow his progress.
Panic seized the Overseer.
"POWER… I… NEED… MORE POWER!!"
He threw his arms wide, generating a terrifying, localized vacuum.
The deities recoiled in horror.
"No!" one cried out. "Not that taboo—!"
"Yes!" the Overseer shrieked. "ALL OF YOU WILL FEED ME!"
A swirling vortex manifested in front of his chest.
The closest deity was instantly drawn in, screaming as their divine form disintegrated into particles of raw essence.
Another deity attempted to escape—
But the Overseer’s gravitational grasp caught them mid-flight.
They were dragged into the Overseer’s chest and consumed in a flash.
Nocturnis whipped his head around toward the monster.
"You FOOL!" he bellowed. "That taboo technique is unstable. You cannot assimilate that many deities at once! You will—"
The Overseer seized him by the throat like a discarded doll.
Nocturnis fought back, his shadows erupting in a frantic, uncontrolled mess.
"LET ME GO!"
But there was no release.
He was pulled into the Overseer’s torso like water being soaked up by a dry sponge.
"No—NO—!" Nocturnis’ scream echoed as he was swallowed whole.
His voice vanished as the Overseer began to convulse.
The Overseer's body bloated and warped, becoming more hideous than ever. More energy than a single vessel could hold surged through him, making his skin ripple like boiling chaos.
His chest began to bulge outward.
Suddenly, horrific, wailing heads started to protrude from his torso.
These faces were twisted in misery, their eyes burning with flickering, unstable divine light.
These were the deities he had just devoured.
The taboo made it impossible for them to merge correctly. Their minds were screaming from within him, their essence struggling to break free even as their power fueled his strength.
The Overseer howled in pain, gripping his head as he fought to stay in control.
Despite the agony, he continued to reinforce the cage.
Layer after layer.
Concept upon concept.
Seal after seal.
A thousand beam projectors materialized inside the prison, all firing at Gustav at once.
And yet—
Gustav kept forcing the bars apart.
One inch.
Two inches.
Four inches.
His aura expanded like a sentient being, swallowing the beams and consuming their destructive energy to fuel his own rise.
The Overseer gasped, his eyes bloodshot.
"WHY… WON'T… YOU… STAY… TRAPPED?!"
He funneled even more of his stolen power into the structure.
The heads emerging from his skin moaned and shrieked—weeping and howling as divine essence leaked from their eyes like tears.
The Overseer’s form spasmed as deep cracks began to spiderweb across his body.
Still—
The prison started to fail.
With a final, deafening crack, the red bars bent outward.
Gustav’s fingers shredded the conceptual boundaries, tearing through the manifestation of the Overseer’s authority as if it were nothing but wet fabric.
The prison shattered into pieces.
The light died out.
The beams went dark.
And Gustav stepped into the open.
In an instant, he appeared directly before the Overseer, his fist already cocked back.
The Overseer froze, his monstrous body trembling in fear.
Gustav whispered softly:
"…your prison failed."
Then, he struck.
Gustav’s fist slammed into the Overseer’s chest with the impact of a collapsing universe fighting for its last breath.
BOOOOOOOOM!
The Overseer’s massive frame was launched backward like a broken toy thrown through the ruins of reality. His enormous body plowed through the remnants of nebulas and the husks of dead stars.
His cries of pain resonated through the fractured layers of spacetime.
Gustav gave him no room to breathe.
Before the Overseer could even find his balance, Gustav disappeared—reappearing directly above him, his foot already mid-descent.
KRRRRRRAAACK!!!
His heel crushed the Overseer downward, sending massive shockwaves through the dying cosmos. The few stars that remained—faint glimmers of old suns—were extinguished in a flash.
Debris from shattered galaxies sprayed outward in great arcs of cosmic dust.
The Overseer choked, struggling to regain his senses, but Gustav was already there once more.
His hand transformed into a blade of pure, raw Outworldly energy.
SWOOOSH—SHIIINK!
